Superior Exteriors came in with the most competitive bid when I posted for a gutter cleaning service on my two-story house with a high roof with wide eaves. The next closest bid was $20 higher even after negotiations with that company that I had a lower bid from Superior Exteriors. Within a few hours, I was communicating with Superior Exteriors and scheduled for cleaning later in the week. They also suggested I should use their gutter guards product. I asked them to see a sample and they came the next day to show me a sample before agreeing on the install. They came in on a Friday to complete the cleaning and install and worked hard on getting half of the work done (it was 95 degrees out so it was quite hot to be up on the rooftop). They said they would be back the next morning to finish the work as they wanted to make sure it was completed in a timely manner. They even took pictures of the rooftop install and sent them to me so I could see what it looked like from up there. This is a dedicated small business that's willing to go the extra mile to make sure the consumer is informed and taken care of throughout the process. Their prices are very reasonable and you can tell that they take pride in their work.

We had a new roof and new gutters installed. The employees of American Bonded Xteriors arrived on time and with all the necessary supplies. When they removed the old roof they protected the side of our home as well as the neighbors home. The tear off went very smoothly and the clean up was outstanding! Our new roof went up quickly and looked great. We went with the suggestion from the owner of the company for the gutter color and design and it looks absolutely perfect. The workers were timely, neat and efficient. Our new roof and gutters make the house look updated and fresh. Absolutely recommend for the professional service and design help. The house looks great!

Contacted Loyola Roofing and Phil answered on the first ring. We set an appointment for a free estimate. Not knowing whether we would need a repair or an entire replacement, he walked us through as he pointed to the weak spots causing the leaks. He then explained the entire process, and materials that would be used. He returned the following day. He was prompt, conscientious, efficient, honest and came in on budget. We will use this company again.

Sam & his crew did a great job adding two brand new gutters & downspouts to help alleviate our rainwater issue. He & his crew also sealed our roofs to help extend their lives. I contacted Lonestar Roofing on Monday afternoon and Sam was here today (Wednesday) first thing in the morning with all of his supplies and crew ready to work. I feel that we were charged a very fair price & the quality of work is excellent. Sam & his staff were very professional and nice people who did excellent work. I would definitely refer Lonestar Roofing to others. Brad Carlson

Steve came out right away and provided a fair estimate. They were able to do our work within a week of the initial consultation and worked with us to schedule the repairs (roofing and tuck pointing). They also provided some free tips that I can do to save money on hiring someone the easy stuff). Overall it was extremely positive experience and we would consider using them again. BTW - His worker went above and beyond the work listed on the estimate and didn't charge a penny extra.

James first did a thorough inspection of my roof and then gave me a fair quote. He picked up several replacement parts on his way to do the job, fixed everything I asked him to do, and even used a leaf blower to clean out my gutters while he was up on the roof. Thumbs up👍. I would definitely hire him again or recommend him to others.

He scheduled a date to start the job and again showed up on time. The job was completed on schedule and followed up with a personal inspection. I will recommend MegaSolutions to anyone who needs their services, a painless experience. A great company.

I had a great experience with Peter Pryce and Quality Way roofing company. They did a great job on my roof, which ended up having some pretty serious problems. There were water issues which was causing mold in the house. Not anymore!! I felt the price was competitive, the work was very high quality, and I loved the warranty they provided. Even with the crazy snowstorm that set things back a little, they were able to get it done in a timely manner. I will definitely be using them again and recommend them to my friends. Thanks Pete!

We hired Perfect Exteriors after receiving several bids to replace our roof. We could not be happier with them. The work was done in a shorter period of time than what they originally told us. Karina was very flexible and understanding when we ran into a problem with our insurance company issuing an incorrect check. The entire process could have been very stressful on our family, but Karina, Jonas, and the rest of the people associated with the company surpassed our every expectation and made the process easy and simple.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
