I've only recently begun taking piano lessons, but I can already tell that Jon Novi is the kind of teacher who sees limitless potential in his students. His enthusiasm buoys me even when I think I've messed up a song, and encourages me to try again. Also, his piano skills are on point, and he does a good job of explaining how to read a score and the mechanics of playing the piano. Beyond piano know-how, though, I would argue that it is Jon Novi's zest for teaching that makes me glad I am taking lessons with him. You won't regret it.
Mr. Bob has provided my children (8 and 9 years old) with piano lessons in our home as well as the studio. They went from not knowing anything about music to reading notes and playing songs within a couple of weeks. When they would get frustrated he helped them work through their struggles to show them they could be successful. I would highly recommend Mr. Bob.
Matt is an exceptional guitar teacher. He has a great balance of ultimate patience and expansive skill. He tailors the lessons exactly to my skill level, and is great about pushing me to improve in a gentle way. Matt can decode any song I want to play, and break it down in a way that works best with my approach to learning and my skill level. In addition to being an excellent guitar teacher, Matt works with my whole family to bring us together as a band (guitar, drums, piano, and voice). He has an uncanny ability to get the instrument mix perfect, and to coach all of us to come together. I am a 53 year-old guy, and Matt is not only exceptional for me, but also adapts perfectly for my two daughters (age 18 on piano and age 14 on drums). Both of my daughters begrudgingly put in years of piano lessons with conventional teachers, but now truly enjoy playing together under Matt's tutelage. Further, Matt is a great guy ... very dependable and trustworthy. I have had several guitar teachers, and none came anywhere close to Matt's teaching abilities. I cannot recommend Matt highly enough.
My daughter started piano lessons with Stacey just a month ago but she is so excited every week to go. We have been very happy with how Stacey has progressed her - continually adding more difficult pieces to work on to see what she can do. This is our first experience w music lessons of any type and we are really happy with Stacey De & Co! Even my son, who never wants to try anything new, has started asking about taking drum lessons there. We couldn't be happier :)
More than just a teacher. I took guitar lessons with Paul for eight years. He helped me realize my natural ear for music, and allowed me to figure out what I wanted to learn. Our lessons were always different. Sometimes I would bring in songs that I wanted to learn, and sometimes he would have things he thought I should know how to play, which helped me learn similar songs later on. When I was applying to college and needed to learn how to read music and play jazz guitar, he tailored all of our lessons so that I could learn those techniques quickly and most importantly, efficiently. Paul's personality transcends the teacher-student relationship, which allowed he and I to become very good friends. Paul William is an excellent teacher for whatever you need to learn. You can't go wrong taking lessons from him.
My daughter enjoys taking piano lesson with Mr. Al for the past 4 years. His lesson is not boring. It's fun and the best part is he comes to our house to give lesson.
Pete taught our son James guitar lessons for about two years. James had never played guitar prior to meeting with Pete, and I was impressed by Pete's patience, optimism and professionalism at every lesson. James can now play several pop songs and even some beginner classical music. Thanks Pete!
I contacted Jerry, inquiring about in-home guitar lessons for my daughter. He replied immediately with helpful suggestions of an instructor. When I realized my daughter wanted a female instructor Jerry went out of his way to find out more about my daughter and the kind of instructor who would be compatible with her. He then suggested one of two female instructors he felt would meet her needs. I was impressed with the time and effort he put into helping me find an instructor for her. This was extraordinary that he would take the time to help me when it did not directly benefit him and he did not even know me! I had originally contacted Jerry because of his highly regarded reputation for teaching and instruction. But now I also hold him in high regard for his kindness and dedication to helping others find their way into the world of music.
Wiebe is the best, most trust worthy guitar teacher ever! It's a lot of fun to play and learn here. Students are super cool too! Best thing is that sometimes you can even make a small band here!
Kimberlyrics is a great place to learn to sing or play an instrument. My children have had a few voice teachers in the past but Kimberly Church is the best. My children like her, they want to attend lessons every week and have come a long way in their vocal skills. They have also started Guitar lesson with her too and love it! I would highly recommend Kimberlyrics to anyone that wants to learn to play an instrument or to learn to sing better!
I've taken guitar lessons over the years and Fran is the best instructor, I have ever met. He has the ability to teach and convey theory in a very concise and organized manner. His blueprint process helps you become a better player.
Mary has given our son (who is entering third grade this fall) piano lessons for 2 1/2 years and we could not be happier with our son's experience. Mary has a very pleasant personality and knows how to develop a good rapport with kids (this probably stems from her many years as a music teacher at a K-8 school). We feel like our son has advanced rather quickly in part because Mary introduces him to more challenging material as soon as he is ready. She also solicits input from our son regarding the music selection. This helps motivate our son as he enjoys learning pieces with which he is already familiar and that he likes. In summary, we are thrilled with the piano lessons and highly recommend Mary!
Nick is a great teacher. He is very knowledgeable and talented. I'm taking lessons for the acoustic guitar. He's great at listening to what I want to achieve and understands how to help me, given my current level and available time I can commit.
My wife wanted to take guitar lessons as sort of a refresher. I came across an Eric Kinkel website and found out that he gives guitar lessons. My wife called him for rates and times. She also mentioned to him that she has an older guitar and didnt know if would be suitable for lessons. As it turned out Eric was nearby and offered to. stop in and give an opinion on the guitar. Eric had one of his guitars with him and my wife talked him in to playing. That sealed the deal! He is really very accomplished and played incredibly well. Back to her guitar . . .there were minor issues for which he recommended a "guitar guy" who did great jub of fixing the tuning keys, changed the strings and made a few more tweaks for under a hundred dollars. That worked out great. Maybe this was a bit lengthy but the whole experience was nice for my wife. She wound up taking 4 each 1 hour long lessons to clear off the cob webs. I thought it would be good to pass this on because providers like Eric are becoming scarce. If you are near the Chicago Northwest. Suburbs and considering guitar lessons, definately give Eric a shout.
Enjoyable First Lesson. Made me feel very comfortable.
I took lessons through Mclain's mind of music for one reason; to learn how to play "Green Hill Zone" on Piano. Thanks to Kevin, I can say that I accomplished that goal (granted, 2 years after he left but you get the idea.) Because Kevin was my teacher, I've moved on to learning a couple other songs as well (although I could always practice more than I do.) When Kevin was giving lessons in Chicagoland he was the most affordable piano lessons, regardless of if it was hourly or half-hour (short of having a piano whiz for a grandparent who would teach you for free, which I do not.) Improve, I guess a couple times he was 5 or 10 minutes late for the appointment, but that's only because he would DRIVE OUT to the kid's house and be stuck in traffic on the way back (which is totally understandable, considering what an excellent musician Kevin is.) If you take one lesson, you'll feel the same. Young or Old, Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced Kevin can teach you how to play.
First impression has been great! Still in beginning phase of lesson plans .
