Mrs. Whitfield was invited to come to speak with eleventh and twelfth grade students about planning for their future in regards to career choices and the importance of setting goals. With this focus, many students really had no idea of what they wanted to do. What went extremely well, it prompted many of these students to think about what they needed to do to be prepared for the future. Many of these students were only concerned about "today." Mrs. Whitfield's background, enabled her to share what employers are seeking and help these students realize that the real world is a serious place. She was well received and the question and answer session was fantastic.
Due to time and scheduling constraints, I believe it would have been a more impactful presentation if we could have opened it up to the entire eleventh and twelfeth grade class, as opposed to just a few classes. In my opinion, I think this would be a great endeavor to pursue during the beginning of the school year.
