Very professional, helpful, and nice. My bed bug problem is under control. I had bugs for about five months, and now they are almost completely gone. There is one problem area left that we are working on, but it should be resolved shortly.. David has done everything to help.. I've been given plenty of good advice and will continue to use them if I have any bug problems in the future..

This company is awesome. We came back from vacation to find our house was infested, INFESTED, with bed bugs..... we had no idea where they came from. It seemed as though we had them before vacation but we were unaware, since we were gone they traveled the house searching for human blood. They where everywhere in every closet (5 closet) on most beds and all over the living room, walls, in the bathroom, and just everywhere. I just died! I called the company - they came the next day (although we left that night) - we left our house for 3 weeks because I could not live in that condition. Crow treated our WHOLE house during the 3 weeks with 3 treatments. They had a plan and we followed it exactly. We did not have to throw anything out or buy anything new. With us coming back form vacation we did not have that much money, they were super affordable and very easy to work with. We never felt judged. We have been bed bug free for 2 years now and I hope that it is like that forever. Crow is the best and it there for all your pest control needs. Thank you Crow.

The guys that came out were very professional and thorough with their work. Covered all the bases, understanding that we couldn't accomplish bagging everything for the bed bugs extermination but we had 2 weeks forewarning. Even guided me on how to set a mouse trap. Only draw back was the price which was different from what is originally quoted. Don't know if Nolan or Scott actually worked there, but would have appreciated a written quote. Only happened once I agreed to their service and gave them the credit card number.

Let me first start off by saying that Clean Pest Solutions has something that other exterminators and big, well known extermination companies don’t have.... HONESTY! I got Clean Pest Solutions information after posting my thumbtack ad, looking for a bed bug exterminator. We were told by Orkin (who came out to inspect) that it would cost us $1100-$1800 to treat our whole house. Although we wanted to treat the problem quickly, we also wanted to shop around a little and see who had the best guarantee and tools to deal with this. Chris offered to come out and inspect for us and come to find out, IT ISN’T BED BUGS! Chris was so honest about his findings and didn’t even try to upsell us on a preventative treatment because he didn’t feel the need to expose our family and my son to pesticides based on his findings (or lack there of). He gave us the best news we could’ve hoped for. Chris also left us with a few sticky traps free of charge just in case we experience any bites or such because he was honest saying it’s possible he missed something not seen by the eye. AWESOME SERVICE! Would highly recommend.

Vladimir of Windy City Bed Bug Specialists is extremely professional. I felt very confident after just talking with him on the phone about resolving our bed bug issue. He showed up right on time for our appointment and he did a very thorough inspection. He was very knowledgeable and personable and I felt very comfortable having him in our home. He did the two treatments as explained and we have been free of bed bugs since then. I highly recommend Vladimir and his company.

Bed bugs were literally ruining my life. The lack of sleep made my work performance suffer and I eventually got fired. I was weakened so much that my immune system suffered and I was sent to the hospital. I searched on thumbtack looking for a price I could afford and this popped up. Donald is literally my hero. He came in and got rid of all of them. I can now sleep peacefully at night and my health has improved. I definitely recommend this exterminator.

I'm very impressed with the results. Alejandro showed up on time, explained the process and kept it simple so I could understand, showed me where some of the bed bugs were hiding (I had no idea), and followed up a few days later. His work is truly admirable and would highly recommend him to anybody who is having issues with pests. Thank you Alejandro, I'm completely pest free now!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do pest control companies do?

Pest control companies handle all aspects of bug, rodent and animal extermination or removal. Pest control professionals visit your home or office to identify the type of pest that is troubling you and offer various treatment plans — complete with clearly outlined costs. Once you and the pest control company have a signed agreement, the pro will begin treatment. Pest treatment can range from the use of spray pesticides and gel bait to live and/or kill traps. There are a wide range of types of pesticides, many of them nontoxic for humans and other small animals. This means you may be able to have your home treated for pests without harming nearby wildlife or your dog and cat. The pest control pro will carry out the treatment plan and, depending on the service agreement, provide follow-up such as emptying traps, inspecting access points, or reapplying pesticide spray if the pests return. Costs will vary based on the type of pest you are having removed and the extent of the infestation. The average national pest control price range is $80-$130. From a minor bedbug event to an entire home termite infestation, pest control companies have got you covered.

How do you get bed bugs and how do you get rid of them?

The increase in bed bug infestations in the U.S. is a result of increased travel, lack of knowledge about preventing infestations, increased resistance of bed bugs to pesticides, and ineffective pest control practices, explains the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It’s easy to mistake bed bugs for carpet beetles or similar-looking bugs, so infestations are often not noticed when they first occur. Prevention tips include keeping areas free of clutter, regularly washing sheets and mattress covers in hot water (and don’t forget to wash the laundry bag, too), and vacuuming regularly and safely disposing of the sealed vacuum bag. Not everyone has reactions to bed bug bites, which also may be mistaken for the bites of other pests such as mosquitoes, so timely bed bug extermination depends on identification of bed bug activity. If you notice physical signs of an infestation, contact a bed bug extermination professional as soon as possible to learn about chemical and non-chemical (such as heat) treatment options. An integrated pest management plan may incorporate one or more methods.

How much does it cost to remove a mouse?

If you have a mouse in your house you’re probably quickly researching pest control costs. Mice, although tiny, can transmit diseases and also get into your food and leave unsanitary droppings around your home. If you have seen one mouse in your house, it’s likely that more have taken up residence in your crawl space, attic or basement. The national average pest control cost is $150-$200. Costs can vary depending on whether you need to get rid of a population of living mice or just dispose of a dead mouse (or full traps), how extensive the mouse population is, and where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pest control cost for removing a mouse:

    • $150 for initial trap setup and inspection (and sealing of entry holes).
      • $50 for rodent removal service calls and emptying of traps. This visit can also include identifying and sealing entry points that were not sealed on the first visit.
    • Rodent extermination: $110-$350, depending on how heavy the rodent population is, whether the mouse infestation poses health risks, how many entrances exist and how many rodent bait stations are needed.

How much does it cost to kill bed bugs?

The cost of bed bug extermination depends primarily on how widespread the pest infestation is and how many rooms need to be treated. Other factors that can affect bed bug extermination costs are the amount of clutter in the location, additional furniture that needs to be treated, and construction of the home. Pest management professionals often have rates for room treatments, which can vary based on these factors. As an example, a pest management company treating a 10-by-15-foot room with light infestation might charge clients about $250, while the same size room with a heavy infestation and large amounts of clutter might cost the clients $300-$400. Clutter and heavier bed bug populations mean more product and longer labor time for the workers. Rates will vary from company to company, and from region to region, but the national average bed bug extermination cost is $320-$400. Bed bug heat treatments are an alternative way to exterminate these pests. Heat treatments are typically charged per square foot and tend to cost more than chemical or non-chemical spray solutions. Although effective, they are not usually recommended for occupied spaces, as the extreme temperatures can damage televisions, window dressings and other home furnishings.

How much does it cost to treat a house for termites?

Termites are not only creepy-crawly, they can literally eat your house out from underneath you. Termites feed on damp and dry wood and can chomp through your house at an alarming rate. The national average pest control cost for termite extermination is $240-$400. Treatment costs can be higher for an extensive infestation. Here are some examples of average pest control costs for termites:

    • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: $3-$4 per linear foot.
      • For $75 per year, a company may offer a maintenance plan that provides inspection of the property and renewal of the warranty.
    • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: approximately $400 for a 2,000-square-foot home at $3-$5 per linear foot.
      • The price is higher for additional work such as foaming and drilling inside of concrete slabs.
    • Fumigation treatment of drywood termites: $1,200-$1,500 for a 30,000- to 35,000-cubic-foot home
      • Fumigation is measured in cubic feet because it fills the airspace of the home and infiltrates the wood that the termites may be colonizing. The cost of fumigation is affected by the number of levels in the home as well as the square footage.
