How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.

Nicole is your go-to person for meal prep, all the way to learning the basics of cooking. She taught me to cook, from buying groceries to deciding the menu to conducting a cooking class at home. Nicole was enthusiastic, and the perfect blend of direction and flexibility made us comfortable. She has a keen ability to connect with people and makes them feel at ease, creating the ideal learning environment. Nicole is warm and welcoming, and she is warmed and welcomed to our home. I unequivocally recommend Nicole for any of your cooking needs. She is a rare gem.

Carol was very responsive with the communication and her cooking class was a great addition to our bachelor party. With only a week's notice, we worked out a full schezwan cuisine menu (the bachelor's favorite). Even though Carol didn't have much experience with the cuisine, and we didn't have much experience cooking, everything turned out amazing (could have been a bit spicier though - Carol admitted she doesn't really like spice) She showed up to our AirBnb in her chef's outfit with all food and supplies (along with an excellent tuna tartar app that was already made for us to start eating immediately). She was very helpful coaching us how to make everything just right in just the right amount of time. The only downside was that in the end it worked out to be about $125/pp (not $70 as listed on her site). I relied on her to map out how many dishes would be sufficient for 8 people, but in the end we had SO MUCH left over. We could have gotten away with cutting probably 2 dishes to save on cost and food. I didn't negotiate the price at all - I just wanted her to map something out that would be great for the 8 of us. Either way, we were all happy with the experience and would recommend her for your next private group cooking class!
