Nick is fantastic! Once he got to the party he got right to work entertaining my guests! EVERYONE absolutely loved him! He was funny and charismatic. He easily juggled twisting balloons and entertaining kids AND adults waiting eagerly in line for a balloon animal, sword, hat... you name it he made it! I highly recommend him as a balloon twisting entertainment person! Many people at my party said they will be using him for their party! I plan to do more business with Nick in the future! Such a great addition to our party! Thanks Nick for making Bella's first birthday special, and entertaining ALL of our guest!

Silly Aunt Nora Magician was amazing. I was a little worried that it might not be age appropriate for my 8 year old daughter's birthday party but she was absolutely fantastic! The kids loved the music face painting and magic tricks. She made my birthday girl feel really special and I'm pretty sure the adults loved her more than the kids. I'm so happy I hired her and highly recommend her for anyone looking for great children's entertainment.

We hired DJ AD Entertainment for our daughters college graduation party. All we can say is - EXCELLENT!! Due to weather issues we had to go to "Plan B" for the party location & they rolled with us. The music was fantastic & they expertly read the crowd. We continue to get rave reviews from our guest on the fun they had. We will definitely hire them again for our next event.

Review for William Powers I am a non-professional singer interested in improving my overall level of performance in both solo and choral situations. I have worked with Mr. Powers on several occasions in preparation for a vocal recital and an opera performance, and I truly cannot recommend him highly enough! Not only is he great fun to work with, he is able to quickly and accurately assess my strengths and weaknesses as a performer, and offer practical advice that I can put into use immediately. He is particularly effective in helping me bring a song to life by examining the emotional content of the music and lyrics, and then presenting it in such a way as to deeply touch the hearts and minds of my listeners. Whatever your current level of skill as a singer, actor, or public speaker, and whether you are an amateur or professional performer, Mr. Powers can give you the inspiration and the practical tools to move on to a much higher level!

The Band Sundance was fantastic. On top of running our wedding ceremony audio, the band was spectacular for the entire reception. A large variety of music was played and it had all ages of people up and dancing the entire night. Jim is very professional and easy to work with - we were so pleased to have the band and our wedding reception wouldn't have been the same without them. Live music is the way to go.

In mid-September, Positively Naperville received a letter to the editor from Loren Michaels Harris regarding an story about the Ohio police release of graphic overdose photos featured on Sept. 12, 2016. As publisher of the hyper local monthly publication in a city focused on fighting addictions and drug abuse of all kinds, I was struck by Loren’s thoughtful, timely and meaningful words, especially as they related to local initiatives such as “Connect for Life,” “KidsMatter,” and Project H.E.L.P. His reference to being a motivational speaker and his never-ending story of survival prompted my wondering about a presentation to our Rotary Club of Naperville-Downtown. Our small Rotary club is always looking for 30-minute programs. Speakers are invited to present educational topics such as the one addressed in his letter. We talked, we met, Loren agreed and the date was set for Oct. 26. Though electronics failed to connect that afternoon, preventing members from viewing Loren’s video introduction, he punted ably, landed on his feet and started from the very beginning of his 54 years. The trials and tribulations that have contributed to Loren’s strength of character and determination live within an engaging story of surviving one birth mother, one adoptive mother, and 20 foster mothers. Against so many obstacles, Loren is a survivor of the foster care system who says his only source of continual healing from the scars of foster care comes from addressing the need for better protection of all children, especially from social media, neighbor to neighbor. Rotarians experienced a very compelling presentation by a man who appears to be at home with his powerful story, one that needs to be told over and over—with or without the video introduction.

Kazar performed at our New Years Eve event. (about 100 people) He was recommended by a friend. The show was great, I've never seen a live magic show before, it was more than we expected. It was a very elaborate. It was very entertaining and fun. I personally have no idea how that magic is done. I'd like to see more. Thanks Kazar!

Zoltan with Bounce N Celebrations did an AMAZING job at my son's 3-year-old birthday party. We had about 35 kids between the ages of 2-8, and he was very patient, very professional, very engaging, and the kids absolutely LOVED his work! The glitter tattoos were the biggest hit, but the balloon swords and wands were not to go unnoticed - the kids loved those as well. Zoltan is extremely prompt and thorough. He got RIGHT back to me any time I called with a question or an update weeks before the party, he was very clear when he outlined what I should expect or needed to do, and he just made everything very simple and easy on my end. I felt in good hands and I could tell right away he was a reliable professional and person who I could trust. He is also very kind and reasonable and humble, and he is good with the kids. He didn't mind staying a little later so that some of the kids could get a balloon in addition to their tattoos, and when one child's balloon popped, he made another one even though the party was over and he had packed up all of his things. He didn't even bat an eye about it - it was his natural reaction to unpack and fix the problem. He was really perfect entertainment for our party, and we look forward to hiring him again. I strongly recommend Bounce N' Celebrations. Thank you Zoltan!!

This review is a long time coming.... We hired Boss Entertainment for a preschool Christmas Party. John was by far the best Santa we have had at a holiday party in the 32 years our preschool has been opened. He sang songs with the children, passed out gifts and was jolly and fun - our children had a blast! A true Santa experience. We will be hiring John for every holiday party moving forward. Thank you for providing an exceptional and magical experience for our children!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a bounce house?

Bounce houses, inflatable castles, moon bounces, inflatable slides and jumpy castles are all large-scale inflatable houses made for interactive entertainment. Commonly intended for children, bounces houses are made of PVC or other durable materials such as nylon or vinyl that when look like a house or castle when inflated. Rental companies deliver bounce houses to birthday parties, festivals, fairs and other events. The companies have industrial-grade blowers that fill the large structures with air to make them bounceable. A common size for a bounce house might be 15 feet by 15 feet by 13 feet. Bounce houses often have a flat, inflatable bottom pad and inflatable walls so that kids can jump and bounce without being hurt, along with a netting door and windows so that kids can see out and adults can see in. Bounce houses are suitable for both indoor or outdoor events, depending on the venue. For large events, rental companies often have a staff member who stays with the structure to monitor safety and keep it properly inflated. There are also wet/dry bounce houses with slides that you can hook up to a hose on hot summer days. A bounce house can be a fantastic addition to a party with kids, keeping them both entertained and contained.

Are bounce houses safe?

Bounce houses can be safe if operators and parents take proper precautions. Before renting from a company, confirm they are a legitimate company and hold any licenses and insurance required by your state. Ask to see reports of bounce house safety inspections provided by third parties, to make sure the equipment is in good operating condition to prevent injuries. If the rental company does not provide a staff member to oversee the bounce house for the duration of the rental, make sure you are properly trained on how to oversee the equipment. The American Academy of Pediatrics offers these guidelines for parents to help keep their kids safe when using a bounce house:

  • Follow guidelines for safe installation including anchoring. Position away from fences, greenhouses, branches, etc., which would be dangerous should a child fall onto them.
  • Consider limiting use to children 6 years of age and older.
  • Have kids take off footwear, eyeglasses and jewelry before playing.
  • Take sharp objects (pens, keys) that could cause puncture injuries out of their pockets and hands before playing.
  • Don’t let kids of significantly different sizes into the bounce house at the same time. Smaller kids can get hurt by colliding with or falling under an older child.
  • Heed the height and weight regulations of the inflatable.
  • Food, drink, bottles, glasses, etc., should not be taken onto the bounce house.
  • Supervision should be maintained all the time. Supervision means watching constantly, not just being in the area.
  • Do not allow children to push other children off the inflatable. If it is a flatbed, this is especially important to avoid broken arms and legs. If the bounce house is walled, don’t let kids bounce against the walls and crash into one another — this can result in collision injuries.
  • Don’t exceed the maximum number of children at one time in the bounce house.
  • Don’t let kids climb onto the outside walls. Flips and rough play should also not be allowed.

How much does bounce a house cost to rent?

Bounce houses are a fun way to keep kids entertained during birthday parties and other events. The national average cost for renting a bounce house ranges between $160 and $200. Cost will be affected by the size, design and functions of the bounce house you rent as well as the length of the rental. A three-hour rental will likely cost less than an eight-hour rental. Many rental companies offer fun additions like popcorn machines or cotton candy makers, and provide packages with discounts on multiple items. Another item that you may want to rent with your inflatable is a generator to keep the bounce house inflated. Here are some examples of average inflatable rental costs, packages, and common add-ons that many companies provide:

  • Bounce house, 10x10x13-foot: $95.
  • Bounce house, 15x15x13.5-foot: $125.
  • Wet/dry slide, 14-foot: $150.
  • Wet/dry slide, 20-foot: $250.
  • Combo bouncer and slide, 24x10x13-foot: $140.
  • Combo bouncer and wet/dry slide, $175.
  • Folding chairs: $1.50 per chair.
  • 6-foot folding table: $8.
  • Snow cone machine: $45.
  • Popcorn machine: $55.
  • Cotton candy machine: $55.
  • 2300-watt generator: $75.
  • 3000-watt generator: $100.
  • $299.95 package: includes a 20-foot dual slide ($250), table ($8), 10 chairs ($15), and a popcorn machine ($55) — $29 savings.
  • $450 package: includes a double water slide ($350) and bounce castle ($130) — $30 savings.
