My daughter started piano lessons with Stacey just a month ago but she is so excited every week to go. We have been very happy with how Stacey has progressed her - continually adding more difficult pieces to work on to see what she can do. This is our first experience w music lessons of any type and we are really happy with Stacey De & Co! Even my son, who never wants to try anything new, has started asking about taking drum lessons there. We couldn't be happier :)
David was very patient with my ever-changing schedule and was able to make songs seems easy. He was able to boil down complicated drum skills into simple steps so that every lesson I felt like I was advancing. Sad he's no longer in NYC!
My son really enjoys the drum lessons and has learned a lot in a short amount of time. We are very satisfied!
Guitar Chicago is the best option for music lessons in Chicago! Their instructors are patient, knowledgeable, and supportive. They do a fantastic job of working with you to achieve your individual goals. I started as a beginner with no guitar knowlege, and they helped me achieve my goals of playing multiple open mics and music events. I've also been able to meet and work with other Guitar Chicago students! They are always willing to work with my busy schedule, which is very hard to find with other schools or group lessons.
Great instructors, very friendly. Sam was the best drum instructor. I learned a lot in a short time.
I found Eric through a friend of a friend and love him. My 12 year old son has been taking lessons from Eric for about 6 months now and really enjoys it. I never have to remind him to practice anymore. Eric is reliable, always on time and enthusiastic every time we meet.. My son can't wait for his next drum lesson. He really seems to be learning a lot.
My wife and I am very fortune to have Andrew Sole as a drum teacher for our twin boys. Our boys have been taking drum lessons from Andrew for two years now. His teaching skills and care are main reasons why our boys enjoy his drum lessons. We highly recommend Andrew's drum lessons to all. Thank you, Andrew!
I have taken about 10 years of guitar lessons with Matt. He was recommended to me by Guitar Center. When I started out, I knew nothing about playing the guitar, and over those 10 years I learned more about the guitar than I could have ever imagined. Matt is patient, and knows anything you could ever want to know about playing the guitar. I wasn't always the easiest student, but Matt was always a complete professional. I will always be thankful for my ability to play the guitar, and Matt is the only reason I know as much as I do. I would recommend him to people just starting out, and people looking to improve their skill.
I contacted Jerry, inquiring about in-home guitar lessons for my daughter. He replied immediately with helpful suggestions of an instructor. When I realized my daughter wanted a female instructor Jerry went out of his way to find out more about my daughter and the kind of instructor who would be compatible with her. He then suggested one of two female instructors he felt would meet her needs. I was impressed with the time and effort he put into helping me find an instructor for her. This was extraordinary that he would take the time to help me when it did not directly benefit him and he did not even know me! I had originally contacted Jerry because of his highly regarded reputation for teaching and instruction. But now I also hold him in high regard for his kindness and dedication to helping others find their way into the world of music.
We cant say enough abiut Eric. We have had an amazing experience with Eric. My ten-year-old son has learned so much and is so inspired by Eric during every lesson. Eric really knows how to work with kids and keep them interested. Not only is he an amazing instructor, but he is a rocking drummer himself. We will continue to take drum lessons with him as long as my son stays interested.
I got SO much more than I asked for connecting with Altered Stage. Not only does my membership get me access to unlimited guitar lessons with an awesome teacher, it also includes a great space with all the equipment needed, a welcoming community of likeminded and friendly recreational musicians, and the chance to play on-stage with my fellow members once/month. I went from being the guy who could play chords and learn simple songs through tabs to someone who understands music theory and feels comfortable jamming with strangers at the drop of a hat. A huge change from where I started and not at all what I expected. AS gives members the chance to get involved as little or as much as one wants. I could not recommend them more to musicians at any level.
First lesson was great and haven't been disappointed since. Lots of information and practicing. I definitely recommend the hour session. Gives you plenty of time to learn and work on technique.
I have been taking piano lessons for 5 years, voice lessons for 9 months and flute lessons for 6 months at Music Makers...For Life, Inc. As an adult with prior music experience, I had certain ideas on how I wanted my lessons, and Theresa was very willing to accomodate my wishes. She always tried to work within my schedule as well. Theresa was always kind and patient with me and always made me feel good about my music and myself! I'm also impressed with how her school is structured for kids. They earn "music money" if they've practiced their lesson or land on the right square on the board game the teachers use to reinforce their teaching. Then they can spend their "music money" in her "music store" on small toys, or t-shirts, tote bags, etc. This really motivates the kids to want to practice! Older kids might be invited to join one of her rock bands, which perform around the county. Playing in a rock band helps to keep the teens enthusiastically engaged in their music! Music Makers...For Life is truly "The Fun Way to Learn to Play"!
My son learned to play guitar there at the age of 5. He is now 12 and has continued his lessons and has formed a Rock Band where they all practice and perform through the music school. They have all learned a tremendous amount and it continues to be a wonderful experience for them.
Very professional and extremely competent. Excellent with small children. Would highly recommend.
HGS Music is amazing, has the best staff and is really fun! I always feel very welcome. I think they've even convinced me to start playing Ukulele as well!
I'd say that I stand out because I'm somewhat younger than other teachers but well experienced already. I am more up-to-date on the newer styles of drumming but have also taken the time to learn the classics such as jazz and shuffles.
My name is David M. McCray. I am offering music lessons, in my home or yours. I offer instruction in composition, music theory , aural skills, saxophone, flute, guitar and bass guitar. I have an M. M. (Master of Music) with an emphasis in jazz arranging from Northern Illinois University. I also currently hold a P.E.L. (Professional Teaching License), Type 10 - Standard Special (K-12) - Music, and have experience teaching private instrumental music lessons to students from age eight through adult. I have played gigs in many bands in ten states over the years, and I have also played solo shows (blues, folk and original compositions) in Iowa, Illinois and Alaska. I record my original compositions in my home-based project recording studio. I have self-produced five CDs since 2004 namely: Bootstraps (2004); Prospect St. (2007); The Promise (2010); Selfish World (2012); Blues and Folk (2012 - old time blues and folk covers). I have an intimate familiarity with Abode's Audition recording software, as well as the Sibelius musical notation software. I have a great ear, and I incorporate aural skills into my lessons. My master's degree from NIU in jazz arranging prepares me to teach music theory in lessons as well.
I have played drums for 40 years and was in the music industry. I worked with Buddy Rich, L. Bellson, and G Krupa. In the area of rock, I have worked with Kansas, Alice Cooper, Rush, Chicago, BS&T, and many more. I teach a standard practical method but also apply what is being taught, so that the student understands theory and develops taste. In this way, they will get invites and earn spots at auditions.
I've studied drums with some of Europe's and Chicago's finest drummers. I can help you develop your technique, timing, feel and style on the kit at a pace that is perfect for you. No matter what your experience is, I will give you my best effort to help you grow as a musician.
We love what we do !!
