I would highly recommend it Theresa McDonald to meet your nutritional needs. I was unable to lose weight and in three short weeks I lost nine pounds. I thought I knew every thing about nutrition but I was wrong. Theresa taught me the truth about nutrition. She also was very available through texting and email. Thank you Theresa you are awesome! I hired Javier to help me lose weight and reduce body fat. After meeting with him I decided to utilize his nutrition and health coaching services. He reviewed my current nutritional habits and made recommendations on how I could improve. We made gradual changes to my diet and within a very short amount of time I began seeing results. He made it so simple. He also shared with me recipes that are healthy and easy to prepare.

Josh at Relentless Fitness has been my trainer for more than 4 years. In that time, he has helped me recover from injury, lose weight, build strength, achieve athletic goals I never thought possible (2 half Ironmans and 2 marathons), and we're currently working toward my first full Ironman. Through all of this, he has been nothing but supportive, going out of his way to help me find solutions to issues and keep me healthy and on track. He isn't just a brilliant trainer who is always learning new ways to train and help you with nutrition - he's a good person. He's always positive and smiling, can always offer a bad joke to make you laugh and makes each sweaty, intense session enjoyable and fun. There's not much he wouldn't do for his clients, and I've never met a more supportive, knowledgeable and kind trainer (and you can tell him you hate him a million times and he'll just smile and keep kicking your butt, giving you a high five or fist bump at the end).

I have been putting off exercising and weight loss for years, and was scared walking into a gym again. This was nothing like I expected! I've hard health scares recently, and this was a little intimidating at first, but Ryan really knows his stuff, from nutrition to how the body works, to what exercises are going to do the best for me. I am so happy to have overcome my "gym fear".

Lacey helped me with so many easy and practical approaches to food, which is the first and foremost lifeline to lasting health. I start each day with her tips on blending a delicious and power-packed "Green Monster Shake". My willpower has increased and I now have the fuel to energize my day. She’s taught me to make educated decisions at the grocery store, which is the "first step" to a healthy transition. Let’s face it; if you buy it, you intend to eat it, especially the “comfort foods”. In my case, it has always been about battling SUGAR. Lacey taught me to take initiative and to question the nutrition labels on food immediately fortifying my food intake. I was amazed to find out that my so called “healthy yogurt” had more sugar than my favorite candy bar. Each day I feel myself getting stronger and stronger as I stock my refrigerator with foods that FUEL me and not FOOL me. I'm so happy with my results! Jeanne C. Z

I am getting all individualized nutrition coaching and starting my fat loss program right away! Seth was an amazing educator and motivator to get my goals on track for MY LIFE! I was a little skeptical of hiring a nutrition coach instead of a dietitian or something, but I have been shocked to hear that those credentials come at the price of being stuck with strict USDA guidelines. I wanted results, not government diet programs. I can't wait to get lean and feel good again! Thanks to Seth and thanks to Eighty 20 Nutrition!

Today I know I can accomplish anything that is put in front of me, weather it is something with work, home or with my workouts. Sean has been truly and inspiration and not only do I have confidence in my self, I have lost several inches lost several pounds and I am gaining lean muscle! I can not tell you how he goes out of his way to help and make sure you are getting what you need, weather it is nutrition or training. You can not go wrong with this guy!

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does a nutritionist cost?

A nutritionist provides expertise and guidance to help clients with all diet-related health matters, including losing weight, gaining muscle, improving their sports performance, and managing diabetes or high cholesterol. Nutritionists can help people learn to follow special diets in a healthy way, such as becoming vegetarian or vegan or developing a low-sodium or gluten-free eating plan. The average national cost of a nutritionist is $60 to $100. Nutritionists often require an initial consultation with a new client, during which they’ll take a medical history, assess the client’s nutritional needs, and determine the best course of action; this first meeting usually averages $100-$120 for a 45-minute to 90-minute consultation. Subsequent nutritional counseling sessions generally cost less, ranging from an average of $45 for a half-hour session to $60-$90 for a one-hour session. Like many professional service providers, nutritionists may offer discounts through package pricing. For instance, a one-month package with two sessions and email support costs an average of $190; a three-month package with three sessions and email support costs an average of $360; and a six-month package with six sessions and email support costs an average of $540.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.

Are nutritionists covered by health insurance?

Nutrition counseling can be a critical component of good health care, especially for people recently diagnosed with diabetes or high cholesterol who need to adhere to a specific diet. People also meet with nutritionists for help developing a healthy vegetarian or vegan diet, developing an eating plan to lose weight or gain muscle, or improving their sports performance by changing their diet. Nutritionists may be covered by health insurance depending on your reason for meeting with them. Nutrition counseling is more likely to be covered if it is part of a doctor-prescribed treatment for a particular medical condition, such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or coronary heart disease. For example, Medicare covers medical nutrition therapy services only for people diagnosed with diabetes or kidney disease, as long as they get a referral from their doctor. Also, insurance providers more often cover nutrition visits if the patient has been referred to a registered dietitian within the carrier’s network of providers. Insurance plans vary greatly, so research your benefits before visiting a nutritionist.
