Laura is a very talented, pro-activ and very well educated woman with a good sense of humor. In my case, my schedule, learning method is individual lessons and Skype and she makes this work. I am Russian traveling for business to Chicago. I am satisfy and enjoy the beginning. About improving language skills I'll tell you in 3 - 4 months.
My tutor Andrew was a great inspiration to me and externally helpful in all departments of English, Math, and Science. He was able to bump my previous 16 score on the English act section to a 22. That is an 8 point difference
I hired Lauren to help my 11 year old twins with math and English homework. She came to our home and worked with them both. Her first session was just yesterday. She impressed me in that she was incredibly patient and encouraging. She went above and beyond in that we had originally hired her for one hour but once she dug in with my son it became clear this was a longer project - she ended up staying at our house for 1 1/2 hours! After the first session, Lauren followed up with me. She provided a plan of action to get my children the help they need now and how to get them to where they can work more independently. It was wonderful. In my case, homework had become a tough, with my twins fighting over my time and questioning whether or not I really know how to do their math problems (I do, but not the way they are learning them!). Honestly, this is the best money I might ever spend. Now, homework is about a peaceful chance to work with a wonderful, qualified teacher rather than fight with mom about fractions!
Ted's fluency in Spanish is excellent. His personality is very engaging and he is patient with students. I know the kids at the Y really enjoyed working with him. He is professional, timely and cares about his clients/students.
Our son has been working with Carol for over 6 months preparing for the ACT test and also receiving subject-area tutoring in geometry, English/Reading and Earth Science. Carol is very professional, extremely smart, wonderful to work with and has demonstrated her ability to work effectively with secondary students at all skill levels, including those with special needs and current IEPs. Carol has helped our son prepare for the ACT in all subjects and provided detailed strategies, not only for test preparation, but for each element of the exam. She uses teaching, demonstration, practice and testing as an intertwined process that has really benefitted our son. Last semester, he earned a 4.0 for the first time and made the National Honor Society. Carol also is wonderful with homework, projects, and writing assignments. Her background in education is AMAZING. She not only has multiple degrees and certifications, but has an extremely high IQ, and has extensive knowledge of both high school and college curricula. We highly recommend Carol, and urge others to utilize her expertise, experience and her wonderful personality with kids for all your family's tutoring and testing needs. My wife really enjoyed working her ESL classes with Leisa. She has a lot of experience and knows very well her job. I would recommend her to anyone who want to learn English.
We have taken both of our sons here. They are located over an hour away from us but what they have accomplished with our sons is incredible. If they 2 hours away it would not have changed our minds about going there. One of our sons was born at 26 weeks and even I never thought he would be able to read. It took him weeks to learn the word "at", and the school was not very optimistic. Our first son had just graduated from Robin's program, and she told us she would be able to make Jonah read. We had explained to her that he was even having trouble with the alphabet. However she was confident that she could help him. After a couple years he is now reading at his own grade level without any difficulties at all!! He loves to read and it is incredible to have him read stories to us!! He is also able to read incredibly difficult words that are far above his reading level!! The atmosphere of teaching is very relaxed and Robin makes it very easy to learn and works with the students own pace. She rewards the students with stickers which the kids absolutely love and occasionally has cookies for them also !! It is absolutely incredible how she's able to teach kids so well!! I simply cannot recommend them highly enough!!
We were lucky to have April Abraham as a teacher to our son. We are from Greece and I was always concerned about my kids' adjustment in an non greek environment. April started teaching English my now almost 7 years old son and she was amazing. She was always sweet and I still remember all those interesting and interactive games she used to bring and play with him. Soon his vocabulary started to improve and I was so amazed to see him make his first sentences in English. I'm a teacher myself and I can understand all the effort she put in teaching him. We were so sad when she had to move away from us. My son is now bilingual, he is one of the top students in his class and me and my husband always say that it's because of April that he loved the English language and put it in his heart next to the greek one. We cannot thank her enough.
I have had 22 years of experience teaching English as a second language to children and adults. I offer reasonable rates and references if requested.
We wanted my 7th grade son to strengthen his writing skills over the summer. With high school quickly approaching, we were hoping for him to enter with solid writing skills so his focus could be on the content of his work without struggles with language and structure. Kendra Hadnott was the perfect person to help him with this. Every part of her process is unique and customized. We started with a meeting to define our goals. Not only did she focus on our objectives, but also our child’s overall interests. He is obsessed with soccer and it was exciting as we sat down the next week to go over her tutoring plan for the summer how she incorporated reading and writing work that included his favorite soccer players, his friends, current teen technology, and more. He was thrilled to write about these topics and was really engaged in her lessons. Throughout the summer they worked on everything from spelling, vocabulary, grammar, language use, sentence structure, and essay structure. Each time they met I received a progress report on his accomplishments. He went into eighth grade with improved confidence and it showed in his writing. He tested into Honors English at OPRF and we are certain that Kendra’s tutoring helped to get him to that level. He will continue to work with her this summer to be certain he will hit the ground running next year. I highly recommend Kendra for your child’s tutoring. She is extremely professional, engaging, and it is evident that working with children is her calling.
Robert is an excellent and prepared teacher. His lessons are always helpful and exciting. He provides all the required documentation and he is open to meet your necessity. Alessandra
I highly recommend Sarah for ACT tutoring. She worked with my daughter on the ACT and helped her raise her score from a 31 to a 34. Even more amazing, is that my daughter's weakest subject used to be English, and Sarah helped her master the subject, which helped my daughter earn a 35 in the English section. Sarah is extremely knowledgeable and has a great approach to working with kids.
We found Ms Pérez through a friend, as our kids wanted to advance their Spanish level. During the first lesson she arrived promptly and was curtious toward the whole family. My children can not stop thanking me for hiring her, as they have improved radically. I also believe that Ms Pérez is originally from Europe and can teach to a high standard of English. Highly recommended.
I worked at a junior high school with Kristy. She worked well with the students, she was professional and kind. She was well liked by both students and staff. She was a joy to work with.
