Northwest Air Duct Services, LLC
We hired Northwest Air Duct due to the reviews on google and thumbtack but I don't believe we received the type of services that most did...I actually don’t believe he did much for the 2+hours he was here…
I already looked past the fact the tech showed up 70min after he was supposed to, I was scheduled to arrive between 12-2pm. At 2:20pm, the tech still hasn't shown up or called, so I texted him that was when he told me he is on his way and will be arriving in 40min. He did show up around 3:10pm, this is not the issue here.
Up on arrival, he was polite, told me that he is my tech and will be checking out the furnace, and then get started with the returns, clean the furnace & main lines and then the supply vents, will follow by the dryer cleaning
He asked me if I wanted to have the bath vent cleaned, he told me normally the price was $45 for one but since he is here it can be done for $30 each.
After he left, I was cleaning and went to the upstairs hall bathroom and then I realized, how did he clean the bath exhaust vent when his ladder is downstairs the whole time? The hall bathroom vent is 12ft high from the floor. The vent is not directly above the bath vanity even if he stand on there he won't be able to reach....that got me to go up there and check it out
I checked all three bath vents, while the cover is cleaned, the motors and the duct still have dirt/dust...So my question is, is the $30 only vacuuming the bath vent cover or should the motors and duct as well...I mean, if only clean the cover I could of done that myself lol after the face photos were sent to owner
Now that I realize the bath vents were not done right, it got me to do a little inspection....I went to check the supply vents, most were cleaned(not that I can see in the middle of the duct but at least after opening the vent cover it looks clean) but a couple of them still have dust or dirt after I remove the vent covers...I don't know if he missed or being caseless but I have security camera in my house because I have younger kids. Some of the vents he didn't even clean. photos were sent to owner
I dont recall if the furnace itself is included in the cleaning or the furnace fan, but I did open up, I cannot tell rather the furnace fan had been cleaned but I did see a screw there and a few dust, so if the furnace was opened up to clean the fan I am sure the screw would have been removed? Now, should I worry if the main supply and return vents were cleaned? Well, the previous dust services company cleaned our duct , they had several cut opening in the main, these opening were sealed back with duct tapes, let's just say these old taps were still there so it doesnt look like this tech opened up anything in the main supply and main return! So the question remain, how did they cleaned any main supply or return if they were not opened?!?!
Now, onto the dryer vent. If you want to see the after-the-fact photo I would love to show you! I was outside of my house to see the dryer vent, oh boy, there was dust at the vent exit opening/cap! Even if he cleaned the vent for sure he didn’t clean the vent at the exit end…! He even charged me to install a new dryer duct because after he pulled the duct closer to the dryer he claimed part of the duct was bent and unable to be installed back! I have security camera, and it didnt show he was even at the exterior dryer vent cap to clean anything....
I also checked the filter because the equipment he used wasn't a big vacuum sitting by my furnace pulling dust and dirt into a big container. So I looked, the new filter which I changed out three months ago is filled with dirt and dust...It looks like when the tech using the air gun blows dirt and dust loose, he wasn't vacuuming but pushed all dust to my filter lol. My filter is good for a year but I Normally change out about nine months. It sure looked like the filter was in there for a year or more after this lol. I don't mind changing to a new filter but I wish it would have been brought to my attention so I know I should change it out without finding this out myself....
I am not trying to get anyone in trouble, I am glad they have staff that are working but now, I paid full price but got less than half of the services…or no services at all depending on how you see it. I feel like I wasted five hours of my time on a Saturday, 3 hours waiting for him and 2hrs that he was 'cleaning'....I could have been playing with my kids!
Photos for uncleaned vents, return, dryer vent and bath vents were all sent to owner. Owner refused to offer refund because her company do not offer refund. She send me a screen shot of the policy but this policy is nowhere to be found anywhere! Not on her website not on thumbtack!
I just wish my experience is not how professional standard is...
