Miss Susie was very knowledgeable and genuinely caring about both the puppy and the family. She offered a variety of hands on techniques that we are able to use from the very start. I would highly recommend her services and we will use her again as a resource for dog training.
Scott was great. I was having trouble with walking my dog. We went for a long walk and he was not only training my dog but me as well. He gave me a lot of great advice and I am certainly going to work my best to get my dog to walk by my side. Thanks, Scott.
Sherry is a great lady. She is kind, encouraging, and very knowledgeable. She taught us a lot of great techniques and was a joy to work with. Would highly recommend her to help with any dog training needs --Denise S
We picked up our dog Mandi about 10 days ago. She was having some anxiety issues, and was very timid around other dogs. We heard about YBFDH from our neighbor and thought we should give them a call. We live in Colorado, and didn't want to send Mandi alone on the plane, so the owner of the company flew out and picked up Mandi and flew back with her. She updated daily with photos and videos of Mandis progress. We flew into Chicago for the weekend when it was time for Mandi to come home. Once home we noticed her behavior was much different. She seems so much calmer and not as timid when other dogs are around. She even plays with the neighbors dog now instead of running away! We give 5 stars and would recommend them to anyone else interested in truly loving dog training!
Gayle has helped us to make amazing progress with our family dog, Grover. Grover is now housebroken - which at one point in time we were certain would never happen! Gayle helped teach us simple techniques, and when consistently applied, the results were incredible. She has also helped us with mouthing issues (him biting or mouthing your hand), jumping issues, and confidence issues he had as a result of being a shelter dog. Thanks to Gayle, our dog Grover is still a happy member of our family. We were tearing our hair out before.....now I know that if I have any other issues, we can contact her and she can quickly put us on the right track again. Thanks so much for your dedication and passion to the dog training industry Gayle!
She always gives wonderful feedback on my puppies, including pictures! I was very impressed by the amount of dog training experience she has. I am so glad to have found a reliable and trustworthy dog walker!

Prior to getting our dog, I saw Jesse walking down Michigan Avenue with 4 dogs (3 off leash, 1 on leash). In total amazement we stared as these four dogs followed his every movewhen Jesse stopped at a cross walk they all stopped and sat, when he walked, they walked. I joked that we had just spotted the Chicago dog whisper! Months later we got Keenan, a 12 week-old Irish Retriever (1/2 Irish setter-1/2 Golden Retriever). I had grown up with English Setters and had even had one as an adult, so I was familiar with the challenges of training this; high energy, stubborn, prey driven, and oddly sensitive breed. I immediately started training Keenan off leash so he could explore, hunt and runat a time when he could still easily be caught. By the time Keenan was nine months old, people frequently stopped me in Chicago and commented on how well trained he was. However, despite every attempt we could not squash Keenans propensity to pull, zigzag and dart forward while he was on a leash. Over a six month period we worked diligently to address that behavior through; collars, treats, abrupt turns, gentle leaders, harness, clickers, whistles, high value treats, pulling back, stopping, I read several books on dog training, watched countless YouTube videos, and even went to a seminar where a different Chicago dog trainer discussed Loose Leash Walkingnothing had a lasting effect. To intensify our frustration Keenan started to go through his second fear stage. During this time our once sweet, shy puppy, changed into unpredictable and reactive dogbarking, growling and snapping at random dogs (sometimes in response and other times for no apparent reason). I knew it was time to call a professional when I no longer trusted or knew how Keenan would react in particular settings. We met with Jesse (Canine Perspective) in late November 2014, we were immediately impressed with his insight into Keenans personality as well as his philosophy and plan for addressing it. I am so thankful we invested our time and money into hiring Jesse. Everyday new situations arise; some I know how to address because of Jesse, and others I still need his help with. Life is stressful enough, I want my time with my dog to be fun & relaxingJesse has taught us how it can be!
It was love at first sight when I first met Beau, a four year old American Staffordshire, Being a long time Cesar Millan fan, and never an alpha dog owner before, I knew that the breed can be determined , even though Beau first appears to be too submissive, and needs an assertive pack leader. I deliberately searched for a trainer who could help me be the kind of leader Beau needed, who had the same beliefs which I held, that dogs need exercise, discipline and a job as an important part of being a happy member of our pack. From the moment I met Ian, I knew Beau and I were in the right hands. Beau and I both are so excited to learn new behaviors, skills and new jobs that we have also been able to be examples of a happy pack with our friends and their dogs when we visit them, even calming their dogs just by going on a pack walk and letting Beau and me lead. Beau and I have also been able to change a couple of prejudiced minds about his breed, just by practicing our new skills confidently. Being a strong believer that nothing happens by chance, I am so grateful that Smart Dog Training was available to us. We re both are better beings because each other and Ian. (And Elizabeth and Kristy too)
