Mr. Bob has provided my children (8 and 9 years old) with piano lessons in our home as well as the studio. They went from not knowing anything about music to reading notes and playing songs within a couple of weeks. When they would get frustrated he helped them work through their struggles to show them they could be successful. I would highly recommend Mr. Bob.
My daughter started piano lessons with Stacey just a month ago but she is so excited every week to go. We have been very happy with how Stacey has progressed her - continually adding more difficult pieces to work on to see what she can do. This is our first experience w music lessons of any type and we are really happy with Stacey De & Co! Even my son, who never wants to try anything new, has started asking about taking drum lessons there. We couldn't be happier :)
I have been taking lessons from Dan for more than two and a half years and it something I look forward to every week. Aside from being a great teacher, he is fun, understanding and very talented. He takes the time to help you understand the structure of what you are learning without over burdening you with theory. He is also really interested in making sure you are enjoying playing (that is the point) and getting out of it exactly what you want. Any time I have a request (no matter how absurd) of a song to learn, Dan takes the time to find a good arrangement at my level and teaches it to me. It is really nice having that flexibility and personal investment in my lessons. In just two and a half years, I went from playing no to guitar to be comfortable jamming with my friends while also developing my classical guitar playing skills. His musical interests are vast; from beautiful classical pieces to classic rock solos to movie soundtracks (he loves Storybook Love from the Princess Bride). This blend of genres and talents truly sets Dan a part and I would encourage anyone looking to finally learn the guitar to sign up for lessons with Dan.
I contacted Jerry, inquiring about in-home guitar lessons for my daughter. He replied immediately with helpful suggestions of an instructor. When I realized my daughter wanted a female instructor Jerry went out of his way to find out more about my daughter and the kind of instructor who would be compatible with her. He then suggested one of two female instructors he felt would meet her needs. I was impressed with the time and effort he put into helping me find an instructor for her. This was extraordinary that he would take the time to help me when it did not directly benefit him and he did not even know me! I had originally contacted Jerry because of his highly regarded reputation for teaching and instruction. But now I also hold him in high regard for his kindness and dedication to helping others find their way into the world of music.
I got SO much more than I asked for connecting with Altered Stage. Not only does my membership get me access to unlimited guitar lessons with an awesome teacher, it also includes a great space with all the equipment needed, a welcoming community of likeminded and friendly recreational musicians, and the chance to play on-stage with my fellow members once/month. I went from being the guy who could play chords and learn simple songs through tabs to someone who understands music theory and feels comfortable jamming with strangers at the drop of a hat. A huge change from where I started and not at all what I expected. AS gives members the chance to get involved as little or as much as one wants. I could not recommend them more to musicians at any level.
I took guitar lessons from Fran. He is a very soulful and talented person. As a teacher, he is knowledgeable and helped me accelerate in my journey to learn guitar. You can't go wrong with Fran. He is one of the best!
Mary has given our son (who is entering third grade this fall) piano lessons for 2 1/2 years and we could not be happier with our son's experience. Mary has a very pleasant personality and knows how to develop a good rapport with kids (this probably stems from her many years as a music teacher at a K-8 school). We feel like our son has advanced rather quickly in part because Mary introduces him to more challenging material as soon as he is ready. She also solicits input from our son regarding the music selection. This helps motivate our son as he enjoys learning pieces with which he is already familiar and that he likes. In summary, we are thrilled with the piano lessons and highly recommend Mary!
Nick is a great teacher. He is very knowledgeable and talented. I'm taking lessons for the acoustic guitar. He's great at listening to what I want to achieve and understands how to help me, given my current level and available time I can commit.
My wife wanted to take guitar lessons as sort of a refresher. I came across an Eric Kinkel website and found out that he gives guitar lessons. My wife called him for rates and times. She also mentioned to him that she has an older guitar and didnt know if would be suitable for lessons. As it turned out Eric was nearby and offered to. stop in and give an opinion on the guitar. Eric had one of his guitars with him and my wife talked him in to playing. That sealed the deal! He is really very accomplished and played incredibly well. Back to her guitar . . .there were minor issues for which he recommended a "guitar guy" who did great jub of fixing the tuning keys, changed the strings and made a few more tweaks for under a hundred dollars. That worked out great. Maybe this was a bit lengthy but the whole experience was nice for my wife. She wound up taking 4 each 1 hour long lessons to clear off the cob webs. I thought it would be good to pass this on because providers like Eric are becoming scarce. If you are near the Chicago Northwest. Suburbs and considering guitar lessons, definately give Eric a shout.
I had been looking for a chance to take my guitar abilities to the next level since graduating from college with my music business degree. While I've met many guitar players who were capable, I wanted the best guitar teacher I could find and not ONLY is Paul an excellent guitar player, but he's an excellent teacher as well. His patience while I worked through more advanced techniques was incredible and his ability to provide the learning material in simple terms helped immensely. If you're looking for a guitar player to teach you, you can find those anywhere. But if you want an amazing guitar player with equally impressive teaching abilities, Paul is your ideal teacher. I 100% recommend him without question.
I've been studying with Miss Brown for a few years now. I had always wanted to play piano so when I retired I took lessons with her. Now I'm learning to play guitar. She makes everything easy to understand. I'm learning so much. Really nice and great teacher!
Bill teaches my 12 year old daughter. He is very patient, works well with young kids and current. He's a great guitar teacher.
My rates are as follows: - $40/hr. at a student's home within 10 miles of Wood Dale, IL - $20/hr. at my studio in Wood Dale - $15/30-minute lesson via Skype I am a guitar teacher with over 10 years of experience teaching all different styles of music, including blues, folk, acoustic, funk, ska, rock, metal, melodic, country, classical, punk, alternative, and various other melodies. I have played concerts all over the state of Illinois, and I have taught many students throughout the years. I teach beginning, intermediate, and advanced players. I am very passionate at what I do, and I will guide you through the proper steps in becoming a great guitar player. Playing music takes a lot of time and patience as well as a lot of practice playing by yourself and in front of people. I am very relaxed and motivated to help my students learn, and I will guide you through everything. I would prefer that students bring their own guitars, so that you would be more comfortable playing their own instrument. If you can't or do not have one, I have guitars here that you may use but during our sessions only. Check out my video. With a lot of practice and a lot of studying, I can show you how to play like a pro and have fun! Lesson Details In my curriculum, students will start off by learning the basics of the guitar, knowing the parts and accessories and so forth. Then, we will move on to tuning and perfect pitch. As we move on, students will learn how to build and maintain a rhythm. Learning how to play chords is essential, and we will be going through chord progressions and how to recognize and memorize the various chords. Furthermore, I will be showing students how to read tabs and write music. I will be showing students the different types of scales there as well as the keys that they are in for those who want to become soloists. I will also be teaching different techniques that are incorporated with tapping on the fretboard as well as various other techniques. All of these lessons will be taught in our private sessions, and each student will receive homework assignments, so that he/she can go home and practice what he/she has learned. I will be having tests later on, in which I would ask you to play one of your favorite songs. With enough time spent practicing, you can become a master of your instrument. Studio Equipment Basement studio: amps, guitars, wah pedals, music stands, guitar picks, and music sheets. Travel Equipment I have an amp, wires, picks, guitars, gig bag, case, music sheets, picks, and music stands. Specialties Teachers marked as a student favorite have taught a minimum of 25 lessons and have received the highest feedback rating from students. Andrew has a real passion for helping people reach their musical goals
I am the kind of teacher who wants you to play what you want to play. I am not going to make you learn to play all of my favorite songs, I want to ask you what songs you want to play and sing so you can have fun while we work on it together.
I've spent my life writing for all the major guitar magazines and websites and have interviewed and/or shot video guitar lessons with hundreds of major guitar industry celebrities, including everyone from Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin to Aerosmith, Van Halen, B.B. King, the Allman Brothers, and famous modern bands, famous country guitarists, famous classical guitarists, famous blues and jazz guitarists, and so many it's hard to remember them all. I've learned so much from this, plus through the process of writing dozens of books for major music industry publishers -- not to mention playing live in working bands for nearly 35 years...
