- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First, making sure they are aware of the details and requirements of obtaining their Marriage License from the County Courthouse. We like to chat and get feel for their personalities and get a feel for the tone of the ceremony as they see it. We usually start giving them a copy of a typical ceremony along with some options that can be incorporated in the ceremony and let them know that they can make changes, write their own vows. If they want help with the changes, we are available for that, too. We do all that within the type of ceremony they have chosen: Religious, Non-denominational, Non-Religious, Same-Sex, Military, Spiritual, etc. We will also include other smaller ceremonies within that: Unity Candle, Sand Ceremony, Wooden Box, HandFasting, etc. So it is "all about the Couple" Or they can use the standard traditional religious ceremony, civil ceremony, non-religious ceremony, etc. But we have found that when a couple is invested in the construction of the ceremony, they are more comfortable, not as nervous, and it is more meaningful.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Phyllis played her first wedding at age 8. She went on to study music for 8-years of college, and became of Minister of Music/Pipe Organist/Pianist at several large Indiana church. Of course, part of the job was weddings and their rehearsals - my life long professional. The daughter of a seminarian minister, and the outgrowth from that lead me to the joining of her daughter and husband to add the Officiate Service.
