I sought Mr. Novi out after taking a long hiatus from piano. I have had many piano teachers but Mr. Novi is definitely one of the most fun and enthusiastic teachers I've had. I have had many years of classical piano instruction but am completely new to jazz. Mr. Novi will give me suggestions on new pieces to learn, but ultimately leaves choosing what I learn up to me, no matter what style I want to learn (classical, jazz, rock n' roll, etc). Because of this I never see practicing as a chore since I am only playing the pieces that I truly enjoy. Mr. Novi is a fantastic musician himself, it's very inspiring to listen to him play! I would absolutely recommend Mr. Novi for anyone interested in studying piano.

Mr. Bob has provided my children (8 and 9 years old) with piano lessons in our home as well as the studio. They went from not knowing anything about music to reading notes and playing songs within a couple of weeks. When they would get frustrated he helped them work through their struggles to show them they could be successful. I would highly recommend Mr. Bob.

My daughter started piano lessons with Stacey just a month ago but she is so excited every week to go. We have been very happy with how Stacey has progressed her - continually adding more difficult pieces to work on to see what she can do. This is our first experience w music lessons of any type and we are really happy with Stacey De & Co! Even my son, who never wants to try anything new, has started asking about taking drum lessons there. We couldn't be happier :)

I have been taking lessons from Dan for more than two and a half years and it something I look forward to every week. Aside from being a great teacher, he is fun, understanding and very talented. He takes the time to help you understand the structure of what you are learning without over burdening you with theory. He is also really interested in making sure you are enjoying playing (that is the point) and getting out of it exactly what you want. Any time I have a request (no matter how absurd) of a song to learn, Dan takes the time to find a good arrangement at my level and teaches it to me. It is really nice having that flexibility and personal investment in my lessons. In just two and a half years, I went from playing no to guitar to be comfortable jamming with my friends while also developing my classical guitar playing skills. His musical interests are vast; from beautiful classical pieces to classic rock solos to movie soundtracks (he loves Storybook Love from the Princess Bride). This blend of genres and talents truly sets Dan a part and I would encourage anyone looking to finally learn the guitar to sign up for lessons with Dan.

More than just a teacher. I took guitar lessons with Paul for eight years. He helped me realize my natural ear for music, and allowed me to figure out what I wanted to learn. Our lessons were always different. Sometimes I would bring in songs that I wanted to learn, and sometimes he would have things he thought I should know how to play, which helped me learn similar songs later on. When I was applying to college and needed to learn how to read music and play jazz guitar, he tailored all of our lessons so that I could learn those techniques quickly and most importantly, efficiently. Paul's personality transcends the teacher-student relationship, which allowed he and I to become very good friends. Paul William is an excellent teacher for whatever you need to learn. You can't go wrong taking lessons from him.

I took guitar lessons with Shane for about 3 or so years and it was such a great experience. After trying many other places that gave lessons, the experience that I had with Shane really made it easy, fun, and enjoyable. I learned A TON while still getting to pick the style of music I like. I was able to explore different types of music and different artists that Shane introduced to me, some of which are among my favorites today. Choosing Shane at TriTone music was a great decision that made for a fantastic learning experience for me.

I got SO much more than I asked for connecting with Altered Stage. Not only does my membership get me access to unlimited guitar lessons with an awesome teacher, it also includes a great space with all the equipment needed, a welcoming community of likeminded and friendly recreational musicians, and the chance to play on-stage with my fellow members once/month. I went from being the guy who could play chords and learn simple songs through tabs to someone who understands music theory and feels comfortable jamming with strangers at the drop of a hat. A huge change from where I started and not at all what I expected. AS gives members the chance to get involved as little or as much as one wants. I could not recommend them more to musicians at any level.

I had been looking for a chance to take my guitar abilities to the next level since graduating from college with my music business degree. While I've met many guitar players who were capable, I wanted the best guitar teacher I could find and not ONLY is Paul an excellent guitar player, but he's an excellent teacher as well. His patience while I worked through more advanced techniques was incredible and his ability to provide the learning material in simple terms helped immensely. If you're looking for a guitar player to teach you, you can find those anywhere. But if you want an amazing guitar player with equally impressive teaching abilities, Paul is your ideal teacher. I 100% recommend him without question.

I've been studying with Miss Brown for a few years now. I had always wanted to play piano so when I retired I took lessons with her. Now I'm learning to play guitar. She makes everything easy to understand. I'm learning so much. Really nice and great teacher!

About

I've spent my life writing for all the major guitar magazines and websites and have interviewed and/or shot video guitar lessons with hundreds of major guitar industry celebrities, including everyone from Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin to Aerosmith, Van Halen, B.B. King, the Allman Brothers, and famous modern bands, famous country guitarists, famous classical guitarists, famous blues and jazz guitarists, and so many it's hard to remember them all. I've learned so much from this, plus through the process of writing dozens of books for major music industry publishers -- not to mention playing live in working bands for nearly 35 years... My rates are as follows: - $40/hr. at a student's home within 10 miles of Wood Dale, IL - $20/hr. at my studio in Wood Dale - $15/30-minute lesson via Skype I am a guitar teacher with over 10 years of experience teaching all different styles of music, including blues, folk, acoustic, funk, ska, rock, metal, melodic, country, classical, punk, alternative, and various other melodies. I have played concerts all over the state of Illinois, and I have taught many students throughout the years. I teach beginning, intermediate, and advanced players. I am very passionate at what I do, and I will guide you through the proper steps in becoming a great guitar player. Playing music takes a lot of time and patience as well as a lot of practice playing by yourself and in front of people. I am very relaxed and motivated to help my students learn, and I will guide you through everything. I would prefer that students bring their own guitars, so that you would be more comfortable playing their own instrument. If you can't or do not have one, I have guitars here that you may use but during our sessions only. Check out my video. With a lot of practice and a lot of studying, I can show you how to play like a pro and have fun! Lesson Details In my curriculum, students will start off by learning the basics of the guitar, knowing the parts and accessories and so forth. Then, we will move on to tuning and perfect pitch. As we move on, students will learn how to build and maintain a rhythm. Learning how to play chords is essential, and we will be going through chord progressions and how to recognize and memorize the various chords. Furthermore, I will be showing students how to read tabs and write music. I will be showing students the different types of scales there as well as the keys that they are in for those who want to become soloists. I will also be teaching different techniques that are incorporated with tapping on the fretboard as well as various other techniques. All of these lessons will be taught in our private sessions, and each student will receive homework assignments, so that he/she can go home and practice what he/she has learned. I will be having tests later on, in which I would ask you to play one of your favorite songs. With enough time spent practicing, you can become a master of your instrument. Studio Equipment Basement studio: amps, guitars, wah pedals, music stands, guitar picks, and music sheets. Travel Equipment I have an amp, wires, picks, guitars, gig bag, case, music sheets, picks, and music stands. Specialties Teachers marked as a student favorite have taught a minimum of 25 lessons and have received the highest feedback rating from students. My styles include rhythm and blues, rock, funk, pop, classical, country, classic rock, metal, thrash, alternative, punk rock, folk, and various other melodies.
