Awesome! Keith Troemner is the one to hire! A little bit about me I am a new graduate nurse with no hospital work experience. I had messaged him and not even an hour he replied promptly and we met up the next day. I came to the meeting area with no resume at all. He was very accommodating and patient with me. Very professional but at the same time I felt that he was giving his 100% into constructing my resume as well as helping me dig from my clinical rotations that would be relevant to the job posting. There was no pressure or he was in no rush to leave but also gave great advice that would also help me land the job. I am sure anyone who will work with Keith will have a great experience. He emailed me the final copy that has been revised and formatted the same day and the end copy was impressive. Highly recommended!

It was a pleasure working with Laura. She is cordial and professional. She showed genuine understanding of the message I wanted to deliver in my speech. Laura makes every effort to accommodate your schedule. She knows how to work with you until you find the right “voice” for your message. She’s adept in editing and can hone a message down to its essence by helping you to find just the right word, concept, or sentence. I appreciated her commitment and dedication to helping me write the speech I felt confident in delivering.

I had Grin For Life create a tribute video for my mother to be shown for Thanksgiving. All in all the project went well. The filming, editing and re-editing was completed on time and on budget. There were some concerns with lighting (some of the filming was subcontracted) but GFL was professional throughout the process.

Our first meeting was great. He is a conscientious tutor. He prepared some practices for me to learn about my skills such as listening, speaking, reading, and writing. And then he will customize a plan for me, according to my performance in our first meeting.

I initially experienced Tammy's writing coaching as a participant in her "Crafting and Inspirational Blog" class. Her teaching style is dynamic and experiential, giving great examples for the concepts she teaches and then encouraging her students to try their hand at it. Her follow-up and suggestions are always beneficial. My experience with that class was so great that I hired Tammy. We meet over the phone weekly to edit my newsletter articles. When I am struggling to find the words for what I want to say, she asks exactly the right questions to enable me to find those words. And, when I'm having a hard time coming up with a topic, we brainstorm ideas. In addition, Tammy writes a weekly newsletter with writing tips that help solidify what I am learning. The process is always full of learning and fun. Tammy is absolutely fabulous in every way!

Travis is one of the most consummate video producers within the Chicago entertainment industry today. His Dubai/ Miami style of sharp cut/ editing techniques post production is what caught my eye. I have worked in media industry for over 10 years, so I immediately know a good thing when I see it. His work speaks for itself. I had limited time to search for an exceptional videographer for a pivotal event that I was co-organizing in the city. Travis was the first person on thumbtack that I spoke to and he immediately understood my vision and was very flexible and open to suggestions. He definitely went the extra mile the day of the event filming and on editing outdid himself there as well. An all round nice guy with a sharp attention to detail to his craft. I wish I had known of his superb video filming/ editing talent earlier for my previous events. This guy is going places. You should definitely try him out. He's worth it. Cheers.

Remy was indispensably helpful in editing my papers. Her knowledge of good writing techniques and command of language helped transform my work to new levels. She provides great tips for how to strengthen your argument and how to add the strongest types of evidence and analysis to your work. I've never received such useful, personalized advice in or out of school. I will reach out in a heartbeat to her for my next project, and I would definitely recommend her!

When I need solutions, I call Faith. I can not begin to express how great it has been to work with her. I met Faith while serving as Marketing Director of a University. She was contracted for numerous editing projects. Later, Faith assisted me in transitioning to my present entrepreneurial role. We collaborated in web content creation/editing. Faith has a strong background in business services, accounting, and compliance. Yet, she enjoys writing and editing - what a combination. Her business recommendations have been invaluable and her excitement is phenomenal. You should see for yourself. Faith has my recommendation!

I sought Marissa's help when writing my personal statement for medical school applications. She was instrumental in helping me organize my thoughts into a clear and concise piece of writing. Thanks to her my personal statement was probably better written than all of the essays I ever wrote in college. She taught me style tools and techniques that I continue to use in my writing. She also made the process enjoyable. I actually looked forward to editing and revising my writing with her. I plan to seek her help again when it comes time to write my personal statement for residency applications.

I worked with Reno to develop some short videos for my web site. He did a great job of making me look better than I am. His editing and splicing together the necessary peices to make a coherent, complete video was very good. He dubbed in music and made things come out better than expected.

I am President of the Board of an international non-profit. As such, I have had to compose funding requests, press releases, legal contracts, and more. Since Elisabeth began helping me with editing, the quality has improved greatly. She is a master of the English language, and always brings insights I did not have. In addition, she is very responsible, and finishes what she starts in a timely manner. Personally, she is easy to work with, takes criticism well, and has a delightful sense of humor. Your clients would be fortunate to able to work with her.

Was able to quickly reformat some business documents. My company was using faded copies of a form, filling them out by hand, scanning them in and emailing them. She took 3 forms and put them into a word document where I could type I the information, convert to PDF and email. This cuts down in time and wasted paper. I put them on a shared drive at work and my boss was impressed and my colleagues we all very grateful. She was able to get me the documents the same day - even though there was no deadline - and didn't upcharge me for the expedited services.

If you are looking for a graphic designer, video editer, or a photographer she is the person to seek for assistance. I'll definitely use her again in the future and I do recommend her services to others!

John did an excellent job restoring 2 photos for me that had been damaged due to being stuffed in a tight space. He was able to restore the photos to nearly perfect, and I will now be able to re-print the photos to save the memories. John worked very quickly, taking only 2 days to restore the photos. Furthermore, the job was fairly straightforward, so everything could be done through Thumbtack. However, he is willing to meet clients with larger projects and walk them through the process.

How do you hire a good grant writer?

Grants are available to nonprofit organizations, for-profit businesses that qualify for government grants, and individuals who qualify for foundation or government grants. Hiring a good grant writer can help you gain funding in your chosen field. According to the American Grant Writers’ Association, grant writers can help you research potential grant opportunities; write grant proposals, create budgets, and build budget narratives; review written materials before you submit; prepare a business plan; analyze your organization for grant competitive qualities; prepare research grants; help with 501(c)(3) applications for nonprofits; and more. Investing in the right grant writer could result in a financial win for your organization. Generally no licenses or certificates are required to be a good grant writer, but you may want to find a grant writer who has been certified (not just received a certificate of completion) by a reputable organization such as the Grant Professionals Certification Institute. Qualities to look for in a good grant writer include:

        • Proven success writing winning grants, especially in your target area.
        • Strong writing skills.
        • Strong math skills and demonstrated proficiency with budgeting.
        • Careful attention to detail — brilliant grant proposals may be rejected just for formatting errors, so you want someone who follows instructions explicitly.
        • Expertise in your target area.
        • Punctuality and good communication skills.

How much does a grant writer cost?

Hiring a grant writer can give you a competitive edge when applying for financial grants for your business or nonprofit organization, or as an individual. The cost to hire a grant writer can vary depending on their academic background, areas of expertise, previous grant writing success and years of experience. According to the Grant Professionals Association, grant writers should be paid hourly or by flat fee. It is unethical for a grant writer to accept a commission or percentage compensation of grant monies received. They can, however, be awarded bonuses in line with the hiring company’s prevailing practices. Here are some examples of average grant writing fees:

        • Hourly rate for grant writers with less experience or fewer grants awarded: $25-$35 per hour.
        • Hourly rate for grant writers with some degree of success: $35-$75 per hour.
        • Hourly rate for grant writers with proven success winning large grants: $75-$150 or more per hour.
        • For a smaller grant, the writer may charge a flat fee of $200-$500 for preparation and submission.

Pricing may also vary based on the complexity of the grant application. A federal grant that requires pages of research, budgets and a business plan may take more than 30 hours to prepare. For a high-level grant writer who charges $100 per hour, this means $3,000 or more in grant writing fees.

Most grant writers will provide you with a total cost estimate before agreeing to the work. You may be required to pay a deposit up front, or the grant writer may work from a retainer. Often, seasoned grant writers pay for themselves in the long run by writing successful grants.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
