My son's online tutor was Dan. He and my son worked very well together, and Dan was open to suggestions from me via email which he would incorporate into his sessions. In less than 2 months tutoring twice weekly, he was able to bring my son's college math grade from an F to a C. We are thrilled with the results we received from employing Arbor Tutors. We first worked with Steve and explained our needs, and he matched us with Dan. Great job, Steve and Dan! Thank you so much!
Arbor Tutors is the best tutoring company anywhere. We tried several other tutors before Arbor and found exactly what we are looking for here.
Jennifer was responsive, timely and very helpful in editing my resume. She has good experience in hiring and reviewing resumes and her suggestions and guidance greatly improved my document.
Sara's professionalism and work quality made her an excellent tutor. She was always punctual and prepared for each session. As career switcher into the education field, I was apprehensive about preparing to take the math Praxis. Sara helped me not only with my performance, but also with my confidence. With her student-centered approach, I felt at ease and empowered to accomplish what I had set out to do. She was very supportive and went above and beyond. It was such a pleasure to work with her. I highly recommend Sara!
Very pleased with the resources available with this tutor and her patience with the student.
Ben Schwabb/physics & engineering tutor is a real professional: knowledgable, concise, thorough, and presents a well-planned lesson each time. He helped my high schooler pull up his physics grade dramatically and pre-taught an electrical engineering course to my college-age son to get a jumpstart on his fall class. Alex/director is extremely responsive, provides quality tutors quickly, and stays in contact to ensure client satisfaction. Every company should operate this way.
Ms. Belle has tutored my twins since September 2016. She is great with them and they love working with her. I have seen significant improvements in my kids' written ability in terms of clarity, volume, flow, and style. They are in the 5th Grade AAP Level IV program in FCPS and are now comfortable constructing multiple paragraphs to express their ideas or tell a story. My daughter is especially confident and excited in her writing since working with Ms. Belle. My son's ability to write about his passion for sports has soared. The effort is reflected in the last two report cards and in the grades that they receive on their language arts projects. I highly recommend Ms. Belle as a language arts tutor and we will continue to engage her services.
My daughter always seemed to have panic attacks leading up to tests. I was desperate to find a way for her to be comfortable especially as SATs were coming up. All I can say is after a few weeks with the tutors and life coaches at Chelsea International Education, my daughter’s confidence level went up a lot. She was not only prepared to take her SATs but her core academic skills have improved tremendously, which has helped her with her AP exams. The fact that all of the Chelsea tutors are fully qualified teachers, I think makes a major difference and really sets them apart. It really is a quality service and I am very happy to recommend them to anyone.
Tom Mullen is fast, professional, and flexible. His services cater for everyone from new college graduates to experienced executives looking for a step up in their career. The resume had excellent quality and was delivered on the agreed upon date. He provided me with a product that I can easily adapt to a range of positions. Most importantly, his prices are the best in the area.
I worked many hours with Emily in TOP SCORE EDU with essays along with GRE Prep. She was full of energy and always pushing me to do better and helping me focus on my weak points to make them strong. It was always a pleasure to sit down with Emily and work. My GRE increased immensely and also my writing and outlining skills. It was a perfect fit for me.
My son is a junior in high school and we desperately needed a tutor to help him in AP Calculus. Michael has been a huge help with matching us up with a tutor. Michael listens and fully understands the needs of a student and family struggling in a subject. He took the time and effort to select a tutor that best fit our son's needs and personality. He scheduled an initial "get to know you" session with my son so that they could learn more about my son and to understand his current study and classroom habits, etc. The tutor follows up after each session with feedback on what was covered, what needs more attention and how things are going. So far, so good...and I, as a parent, feel like we are in great hands. I appreciate Michael's attentiveness to our situation. I look forward to seeing my son succeed in this class! I highly recommend A+ Club for Student Success.
I worked with Lotus Prep when preparing to take the LSAT about a year ago. Before I started working with Michael, I was struggling to get the score that I wanted and needed to get into law school. After meeting with Michael twice a week for 3-4 months, everything started to click as he was able to help me simplify each question and pick the right answers, rather than over analyze which I had been doing. Through our sessions I was able to improve my score by 15 points. I applaud Michael for his patience and genuine service. I would highly recommend his company for anyone looking for tutoring services and achieving a more desirable score.
Eric has a vast knowledge of mathematics and presented varied ways to attack the curriculum. I earned a B in a class I doubt I would have received a C in without his help.
Shabnam is a good fit with my daughter. She is very patient with her, teaching the concept behind the topic and concern on how to improve her grade.
I enjoyed working with him very much. He's very kind and patient. When asking questions he'll go in depth to help one better understand the topic as well as why you're learning how to do the problems and where the formulas come from.
Mary worked with my son (a sophomore in high school) for nine weeks, and the change in my son's confidence with writing improved significantly. Starting in first grade he developed a dislike for writing, which over the years turning into almost a phobia. He was so intimidated by the process, that he would rather fail than turn in an essay. As a result, he never really learned HOW to write, and his anxiety increased. Mary worked with him, starting with the basics of how to map out and organize a persuasive essay. What took him hours before, he was able to accomplish in less than half an hour. It was very empowering, and helped him considerably with facing writing tasks. One thing that I didn't expect with a writing tutor was Mary's incorporation of subtle life coaching. She had him examine his motivations and his goals. They even did personality testing. I think it was very eye-opening for him to have the chance to look at himself from a different vantage point. Her approach is very supportive and validating. She knows what to ask to make you (both the student and the parent) feel important and interesting. Finally, one of the things I appreciated most as a parent, was that she sent me an email after every session detailing what they had done and explaining her plans for the next session. I can't recommend her highly enough.
Ive met lots of people that are multilingual, but none that have the command of speaking and writing several languages that Yolanda Goss has. I was fortunate enough to meet Yolanda when I was an undergraduate in college. While I was satisfied with passing three terms of French, she was mastering that and more taking courses in grammar, German, and working on a project where she taught English as a second language. My relationship proved very fortunate when I was recommended for a scholarship to attend a German university, where I would be taking undergraduate level courses at the University of Goettingen. This was a competitive scholarship and at the time, I only had one semesters worth of German. I needed to learn as much German as I possibly could and I knew that Yolanda could help me. Her plan was that during my senior undergraduate year I would skip straight from the first semester to the third semester. It turned out that I would be accepted in the third semester German class if I could prove mastery of the second semester through a spoken and written exam. Our goal was to pass that exam with Yolanda preparing for the grammar, vocabulary and speech component during the summer break. German is not a straightforward language with its three genders and tricky prepositions, but Yolanda made it seem easy, often illustrating her points with information from other languages. Long story short, I passed my entrance exam to third semester German with flying colors. My accomplishments in qualifying for third-semester German were certainly noticed and I was able to win my scholarship and go overseas. Furthermore, when I arrived at the University of Goettingen I passed the German comprehension exam with high marks on the very first attempt. I credit that achievement to Yolanda. Second semester German deals with future tenses and subjective constructions; its beyond introductory phrases and conversational vocabulary. Yolanda helped me build the foundation to put it all in perspective. Ive always been impressed with Yolandas ability to make learning languages seem simple. She has incredible patience and a real love for learning and teaching. I think shes a great resource for anyone needing an instructor, teacher or tutor and I give her a heartfelt recommendation.
I'm currently a graduate student majoring in Elementary Education at American University. I'm also a Chinese native speaker. I tutored a 14-year old boy for his Chinese in the spring. I understand completely what's the most difficult part between the communication of English and Chinese. I believe I'm able to make both parts understood fully by another, and I earned The Shanghai Advanced-level English Interpretation Post Credentials Certificate in 2011. Growing up with a Chinese literature major dad, I could say I'm immersed in literature, cultures and languages. I decided to learn English because I would like to meet and talk to the native speakers one day in the future and contribute to the communication of cultures and languages. That's why I'm here applying for the translation job! I have the ability, the motivation and the enthusiasm to help you in the bilingual environment!
