Uttara is so friendly and professional. My fiancé and I had great time working with her on our wedding dance. She is able to come up with choreography for the music that we selected. The choreography is beautiful and fit the music perfectly. Glad that we made the right choice!

If you are not sure or have any doubts, I suggest you cast them aside! Priti did a wonderful job for us, she took into consideration our own comfort level and guided us through a nice choreographed dance to our wedding song. After that she incorporated what we already learned into casual dance sessions for after. Now we're pumped for our wedding!

My fiancé and I had no formal dancing experience, so we were quite nervous for our first dance. Gonzalo started with the basics and helped us formulate a game plan how we would learn our first dance within our short time frame. Even with our busy schedules, Gonzalo had no issues scheduling dance lessons during our limited availability. He is a true professional that taught with patience, a sense of humor, and valued the opinions of his clients. He recorded clips of our lesson, which was an extremely helpful reference. Thanks to Gonzalo on our wedding day, we were prepared and extremely satisfied how elegantly we danced to our wedding song.

My experience dancing with and learning choreography from Brandy has been great. She is skilled in multiple genres of dance and is able to work with anyone from beginner to advanced levels. Brandy has a passion for and takes pride in what she does. She puts in the extra time to make sure you are comfortable with the choreography. Dancing with Brandy is an EXPERIENCE and I would gladly recommend her to anyone who is interested in learning the art of dance.

About

For TENNIS volume of students I teach per week during the peak of summer in classes and small groups is 80 - 100. In BALLROOM DANCING student evaluations of past classes have praise our instruction skills. Class size has grown consistently from 8 originally to over 20. In PIANO I can incorporate simple composing technique (if desired) into the lesson structure to enhance learning in a creative way.

Olivia’s work quality and ethics are stellar. She is professionally trained in the areas of vocal performance, musical theatre and dance. Olivia is complimented by her ease in working well with others, is a bearer of high standards, is well liked by her colleagues and students, and has a natural ability to transform these art-forms into an experience that is believable, memorable and well done. Olivia brings value and recognition to each of her performances and students are eager to follow her careful lead and tutelage. Olivia demonstrates patience when working with her students and is genuine in her encouragement to have them do their best. She establishes high expectations for appropriate student behavior and for showing respect for one another in her classes. This is a hallmark of her teaching style. Olivia is complimentary for both individual and group effort and doesn’t shy away from insisting on repeated practice when working on mastery of new skills, executing techniques and demonstrating showmanship. Olivia has performed on stages nation-wide, in Western Europe, Asia and Canada. Whether on stage or in a dance studio, the great take-away is that everyone leaves having benefited; for being part of a job well done, an enjoyable experience, and most importantly, a smile.

I am not keen on exercise, but I know how importnat it is, so I look for activities I can truly enjoy so that I'll stick with it. After a demo class on Middle East dancing (belly dancing to most of us), I decided this was for me! Mary made the classes a lot of fun. There was no pressure on those of us who were not the most coordinated or graceful dancers. Everyone was supportive and encouraged others when they did something well. We all got the colorful scarves with metal dangles and felt totally ready for the sultan's harem! The music was exotic and came from many countries, and that was a nice bonus I had not really considered. Best of all, this was great exercise. I was expecting to exercise the tummy muscles, and it did not surprise me that my legs also got workout, but I did not expect to feel the exercise in my arms. It is a full-body workout. I have a broken ankle right now and am not doing ANY exercise, but I miss my dance class and am eager to get back. I can't remember ever feeling that way about an exercise class!

    About

The Ferocity Dance Company was founded in 2012 and focuses on Bachata Fusion pieces: mixing ballroom as well as other dance styles with Bachata to create a distinct viewpoint and style. The Ferocity Dance Company houses three other franchise bachata dance teams, and has also grown to have a competitive group that performs Bachata pieces to compete in National and International competitions. The mission statement of the Company is: Fierce Is For Everyone. It is our hope that through constant support for the dance community, friendly behavior on and off the dance floor, and a distinct respect for all dance styles, that we can create a safe environment for all to learn and enjoy dancing. Whomever wants to be family, can be. Most of the students that attend Ferocity are currently performers or striving performers. Students can be seen anywhere from once a week to seven times a week - it depends on how many teams and workshops they attend! We pride ourselves on offering teams that have different bachata styles so that our dancers learn new things, new styles, and new perspective!

I wanted to learn to dance in order to be more social and mingle. I choose BlacKatz Jam because i heard what an EXCELLENT instructor Chyna is. And she certainly is!! She's engaged and excited about teaching, knows ALL the moves, and had me dancing in real dance shoes from the very beginning. Now i go dancing at least once a week!!! Learning to dance with Chyna was the best training i could have imagined. I've now moved on from salsa to ballroom and can't wait to add that to my outings! If you really want to learn the moves, understand the music and be comfortable in your shoes, give BlacKatz a try. She really is wonderful!! Miriam Rudder

Helena is an amazing instructor. When I began working with Helena I knew the basics on how to dance. Not only did she move me above and beyond what my dancing had been, she also helped me develop my dance etiquette. Things like how to dance in a crowd, how to approach ladies to dance with, and ooohhhh…. how to stay on step (which I still struggle with sometimes). I have been around the Latin dance scene for many years now. I have performed in many different places with many different teams. I’ve had many different instructors, but to this day I have never had a better, more dedicated instructor than Helena Hassan. I highly recommend her for anyone wanting to learn the beauty and passion of Latin dance.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do dance lessons cost?

Adults who want to learn to dance, whether to prepare for a wedding or to meet new people, often enjoy taking dance lessons from an experienced dance instructor. Instructors may offer classes one-on-one to individual students or couples, or to small groups. The national average cost for a dance instructor ranges from $30 to $50. Some studios offer a discounted introductory lessons or group lessons, as well as package deals that are more affordable than paying for individual lessons. Some dance instructors will travel to the student’s home, which usually costs more, while others hold small-group sessions in their studios. If you choose a small-group class, expect to pay less than for individual dance lessons.
