My husband wanted to get our garage painted as it was unfinished. We decided to use Ordonez and was not disappointed. He did a great job! He had to recaulk the whole area, prime and paint it. We are very happy with the finish product and will definitely use them again.

In addition, to the household debris located in my garage I had EBRR Logistics/Renovations disassemble and get rid of my camper trailer that was 40' long. All this was done in one day and couldn't be more impressed.

Marcos did excellent work on my garage. He and his partner treated the work like it was my living room. I now have a pristine garage, ready to hang cabinets and shelves... I am going to call on Marcos again when I get ready to have my interior painted, as well.

We had a long list of things to be done before listing our home for sale. Jenrii with Ordonez Home Improvement did an excellent job tackling every project. Jenrii enclosed the landing where we had removed a handicap ramp - this was not an easy repair and required good carpentry skills. He also installed new closet wood bi-fold doors in a basement bedroom. Again, not an easy task as they had to be “fitted” to the closet. His troubleshooting skills were evident here. He replaced two old light switches, four electric outlets, and a bathroom vanity light fixture. These were only a few of the things he did. Jenrii is very professional, polite, thorough, and responsive. He texted us each morning on the days he worked to let us know what time to expect him. He works quickly and does excellent work for extremely reasonable rates. I would not HESITATE to recommend him for small jobs to larger remodeling projects. I was a commercial real estate project manager for 15 yrs, building shopping centers and office buildings - so I can definitively say that Jenrri knows what he is doing and does it very, very well.

I found this company by reviews and decided to share my experience. Jose and his team painted walls and ceilings in my house and I'm very satisfied with the work they've done. Jose was understanding and accommodating, I needed to delay the start of works for 2 days and he agreed though he was busy with other clients, what I really appreciated. Little things that turned out in the process like the need of extra painting of a closet, doors and radiators were not an issue and even didn't cause the delay in our schedule, as well Jose called an electrician to remove my wall lamps to paint the wall completely. Such attitude is highly appreciated. What I appreciate even more is that we finished the work by now but Jose agreed to come one more time to do the touchups and finish little things to have everything perfect! I'm really happy with such attitude and care about clients and when I will need more work to be done in the house would call them again Walls at the house were bright colours before and really hard to convert into pure white, but they did it beautifully and made sure that the tone is even, without spots Would recommend this company if you need quality job for fair price

Nery painted two garage doors, a column which had blistered paint due to weather, an inside bedroom ceiling with water damage, recaulked and painted a window, and caulked and painted a new door and molding. He always called to see what times would be appropriate to my schedule, called my while on the way, and showed up on time. The painting was superb. Frequently painters simply scratch/sand away old paint and repaint, leaving a small impression where flaking paint had been scrapped away. Nery scraped/sanded away any peeling paint, spackled any areas where old paint was scrapped off, and then painted. The garage doors and the column (which would have had large areas where it would have been noticeable if it weren’t spackled before painting) now look brand new, as do the indoor areas he worked on. I would recommend Nery for any indoor or outdoor painting needs.

After a separate company provided plumbing services, we had a lovely gaping hole in the drywall. We looked at the hole and figured why not get a quote for additional work we needed done to our home. We pointed out a few holes in the wall and needed a door replaced so why not get a comprehensive quote / estimate. We decided to go to Thumbtack, Odd Jobs responded first and we commenced the process. Odd Jobs consistently communicated with us, worked with us to solidify an accurate estimate and explained the work, were flexible to schedule the work and explained what resources and materials would be necessary to complete the job. They arrived on time to perform the work. They had the right tools and materials and did an exceptional job from start to end. They cleaned up afterwards and were professional throughout the experience. The quality alone will compel us to call Odd Jobs when we need folks that understand their business and respect their customers. Thanks Curtis

The gentlemen Tim sent was on time, worked quickly, and did great work. I'm very satisfied and will be using Tim again for other projects we have around the house (dry wall etc).

We can't say enough great things about Nico. We found him on Thumbtack, and what started out as a small touch-up painting and repair job turned into a full-blown house turn-around job to prep for sale. There was nothing he couldn't do: not only did he end up painting most of the house, but he also laid down new floors, repaired walls, replaced doors and lighting, and fixed our garage door easily that we might otherwise have had to replace. He was extremely punctual, thorough, skilled, flexible, kind, neat, quiet, and hard-working. He worked every day of the week, and even got along with all our dogs! He as very reasonably priced and saved us a great deal of money. What a find!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you fix a broken garage door?

Garage door problems don’t have to mean the end of the world. Garage door repair is typically a one-day process and can be done for only a few hundred dollars. Common garage door repair requests include fixing slow or erratic garage doors, addressing strange sounds coming from the garage door or motor, fixing cosmetic damage such as dents or scrapes, repairing broken doors that are stuck open or closed, and troubleshooting inoperable doors.

The two main garage door operating mechanisms are sectional roll-ups or tilt-ups. Garage door repair services can fix single-car, double-car or RV-height doors. Your garage door may be made of wood, steel, aluminum, masonite, vinyl, fiberglass or another material. The type of garage door repair you need really depends on the type of garage door you have and the issue at hand. Garage door repair pros often charge a flat service call fee to diagnose the problem and provide an estimate. For customers who choose to have the repair done, the service call fee may be applied to the first hour of labor (including time to make the diagnosis). If your garage door is under warranty, the repair may be free of charge.

Who repairs garage doors?

Garage door repair is a specialized job, which is typically handled by a garage door repair service. Professional garage door repair technicians can test or repair a garage door system and fix cosmetic blemishes on doors. Common requests include help with jammed or inoperable doors, slow or erratic doors, unusual sounds, dents or scrapes on the door, and general system testing. Garage door repair professionals can work on single-car, double-car and RV-size garage doors.

How do you choose a garage door?

When garage door repair isn’t an option — perhaps the current door is beyond fixing or you want to upgrade to a quieter, more energy-efficient model — it’s time to buy a new one. But choosing a garage door is not as simple as it sounds, even when you know the right size for your home. A wide range of materials, styles and finishes are available, and each factor influences the cost. Garage doors are made of aluminum, steel, vinyl, fiberglass, masonite, wood (typically cedar or mahogany), or a composite of several materials. They may be insulated against cold or heat. Traditional and modern styles include raised panel, carriage house or crossbuck. Most styles have window or arch options, and are available in different wood finishes and neutral colors. Because garage doors account for a large part of a home’s exterior, their appearance is usually a homeowner’s top priority. An attractive garage door can increase a home’s curb appeal and resale value.

How much does garage door repair cost?

When a garage door goes off the track, the spring breaks, the door is dented or the garage door opener is on the fritz, a professional garage door repair specialist can help. The cost to have a garage door fixed varies, but the national average cost of garage door repair is $70-$110. The extent of the damage and the size and material of the door will affect the final cost. A garage door repair company generally charges a national average of $80 for a service call, which includes the first hour of labor and service, such as testing and inspecting the garage door and opener. Apart from labor, the garage door repair costs hinge on buying replacements parts. For example, a new spring costs an average of $60. Expect to pay several hundred dollars, though, if the door is beyond repair; a new garage door ranges in price from $200 to $4,000, and most homeowners spend an average of $800-$1,200.

How much does it cost to install a new garage door opener?

Your new garage door opener cost will vary based on the model you purchase and how long installation takes. Typically, installation pros charge by the hour, although if the pro is also selling the garage door opener they may have a flat fee for the product with installation. The national average for new garage door opener costs (with installation) is between $390 and $650, although the national average cost for the opener purchased alone may be in the $150-$300 range. The three most common types of openers are chain-drive, screw-drive and belt-drive. The chain-drive costs the least but makes the most noise. The belt-drive is typically the quietest and the most expensive. You can expect to pay about the same amount for installation for any of the three styles. The lifespan of a garage door opener is approximately 10 years, depending on quality. A pro may provide opener repairs for the cost of their service call fee or they may charge a flat fee, such as $100 for opener repair. Here are some examples of new garage door opener average costs, including installation:

  • Contractor-grade garage door opener with installation: $300.
  • Chain-drive opener with installation and one remote: $350.
  • Belt-drive opener with installation and two remotes: $400
  • Top-of-the-line opener with ¾-horsepower battery backup, belt drive and nearly soundless operation: $475
    • The majority of higher-end garage door openers are “smart” products and will connect via app to your smartphone for remote access.
