Mr. Kaddoura has been helping me with the Quantitative section of the GRE. Overall, he has been a pleasure to work with. I'm not really the type of person that enjoys math. I've never needed a tutor before and I had a lot of reservations about hiring one. However, before I started working with Mr. Kaddoura, I had too much test anxiety to even take a practice GRE. Today, I took one timed--and got a 154 for the Quant section. Hooray! 1) He knows the test very well. He knows how to prepare students for it. 2) HE KNOWS MATH. WELL. He was professor for a lot of years prior to this. (Can't remember how many...) 3) He is incredibly patient. I will give up on myself, before he will give up on me--which is encouraging. 4) He will adjust his teaching style to meet your learning style. 5) He's very flexible in terms of appointments and very accommodating. He will bring prep materials for you: like flashcards, handouts with formulas, etc. 6) Essentially, if you have a goal, he's going to do everything to help you achieve it. Just be upfront about it and be willing to work hard. Mr. Kaddoura will help you get there. 7) Turnaround is quick. I an impatient person. I like to see results. It's been less than a month, and I've seen my own math aptitude VASTLY increase within a few short weeks. I'm even getting quicker on timed practice tests...(which, I never thought would happen.) It's honestly the best result I could have hoped for. 8) He really does care about all the students that he tutors, which is rare these days, lets be honest. If you're reading these reviews, obviously you're already thinking about hiring him. My advice would just be to go ahead and do it. Look at all the reviews below me. It's an easy decision to make. You won't be disappointed. This is a bold statement, but I'm going to put it out there anyways because I believe it to be true: I think you will be hard-pressed to find a better tutor. I seriously doubt one exists.
My son's online tutor was Dan. He and my son worked very well together, and Dan was open to suggestions from me via email which he would incorporate into his sessions. In less than 2 months tutoring twice weekly, he was able to bring my son's college math grade from an F to a C. We are thrilled with the results we received from employing Arbor Tutors. We first worked with Steve and explained our needs, and he matched us with Dan. Great job, Steve and Dan! Thank you so much!
Arbor Tutors is the best tutoring company anywhere. We tried several other tutors before Arbor and found exactly what we are looking for here.
Mr. Pow is a true mathematician. He definitely knows ALL levels of math there is to know and has the ability to teach/tutor clients of all grades and levels. My son is in 6th grade and was struggling in math... after just a couple of sessions my son was back on track. Mr. Pow was able to identify if/when my son didn't understand something and tackle the subject in different ways until my son was successful with the concepts. We are still having Mr. Pow drop in from time to time just to confirm our kid is still on the right track. He's worth the time and money... we highly recommend him to all.
Jennifer was responsive, timely and very helpful in editing my resume. She has good experience in hiring and reviewing resumes and her suggestions and guidance greatly improved my document.
Nema really really helped me a lot. I ended up passing the course with the grade I wanted (B). He was able to identify my weakness (algebra) and we worked to improve it, he would give me problems related to my weakness so that I would do good on the main problems which were calc related. Nema was very patient with me, knowing that my mother tongue is not english, he would find easy ways to explain the word problems which were one of my main difficulties too. He also taught me shortcuts to solve some problems such as U substitution. He really knows how to teach/tutor and he cares about the student, Nema made sure I understood the topics during our sessions and if not he would give homework so I could practice more. His availability is 5 stars, he was available to help during texts and calls whenever he could. There would be breaks during our sessions which help me to get more focused, Nema has good sense of humor and knows how to keep a person calm and confident, I've got into many situations where I was very nervous or insecure about an exam/quiz and he got me very calm, secure and confident about myself in math. I don't know how to thank him about his help but if I need help in another math related course I'll definitely ask him for help.
Sara's professionalism and work quality made her an excellent tutor. She was always punctual and prepared for each session. As career switcher into the education field, I was apprehensive about preparing to take the math Praxis. Sara helped me not only with my performance, but also with my confidence. With her student-centered approach, I felt at ease and empowered to accomplish what I had set out to do. She was very supportive and went above and beyond. It was such a pleasure to work with her. I highly recommend Sara!
Very pleased with the resources available with this tutor and her patience with the student.
Kendra was my personal tutor to help me prepare for the GMAT exam. She is brilliant at simplifying concepts, particularly math, and making them accessible for anyone to understand and recreate. She bridges gaps between, what I find, esoteric and abstract math concepts that are difficult to conceptualize into simple, real-world problems that can be easily solved. Could not recommend her enough!
Ms. Belle has tutored my twins since September 2016. She is great with them and they love working with her. I have seen significant improvements in my kids' written ability in terms of clarity, volume, flow, and style. They are in the 5th Grade AAP Level IV program in FCPS and are now comfortable constructing multiple paragraphs to express their ideas or tell a story. My daughter is especially confident and excited in her writing since working with Ms. Belle. My son's ability to write about his passion for sports has soared. The effort is reflected in the last two report cards and in the grades that they receive on their language arts projects. I highly recommend Ms. Belle as a language arts tutor and we will continue to engage her services.
My daughter always seemed to have panic attacks leading up to tests. I was desperate to find a way for her to be comfortable especially as SATs were coming up. All I can say is after a few weeks with the tutors and life coaches at Chelsea International Education, my daughter’s confidence level went up a lot. She was not only prepared to take her SATs but her core academic skills have improved tremendously, which has helped her with her AP exams. The fact that all of the Chelsea tutors are fully qualified teachers, I think makes a major difference and really sets them apart. It really is a quality service and I am very happy to recommend them to anyone.
Ben Schwabb/physics & engineering tutor is a real professional: knowledgable, concise, thorough, and presents a well-planned lesson each time. He helped my high schooler pull up his physics grade dramatically and pre-taught an electrical engineering course to my college-age son to get a jumpstart on his fall class. Alex/director is extremely responsive, provides quality tutors quickly, and stays in contact to ensure client satisfaction. Every company should operate this way.
Working with Tom was a great experience. I am looking for a social work position with the military and Tom had much to offer in my endeavor. He reworded areas of my resume to say what I had written but in half the space and more to the point. He went out of his way in making my cover letter and resume appropriate for either a position with the military or with a civilian agency. I was very impressed with his skills in organization. He showed me how to include positions from years ago without keeping them in the forefront. I would recommend him to everyone, whatever position they are pursuing. He has the talent to look at any resume, listen to what you want to stand out and put it all in perspective and produce a professional resume.
I worked many hours with Emily in TOP SCORE EDU with essays along with GRE Prep. She was full of energy and always pushing me to do better and helping me focus on my weak points to make them strong. It was always a pleasure to sit down with Emily and work. My GRE increased immensely and also my writing and outlining skills. It was a perfect fit for me.
My son is a junior in high school and we desperately needed a tutor to help him in AP Calculus. Michael has been a huge help with matching us up with a tutor. Michael listens and fully understands the needs of a student and family struggling in a subject. He took the time and effort to select a tutor that best fit our son's needs and personality. He scheduled an initial "get to know you" session with my son so that they could learn more about my son and to understand his current study and classroom habits, etc. The tutor follows up after each session with feedback on what was covered, what needs more attention and how things are going. So far, so good...and I, as a parent, feel like we are in great hands. I appreciate Michael's attentiveness to our situation. I look forward to seeing my son succeed in this class! I highly recommend A+ Club for Student Success.
I worked with Lotus Prep when preparing to take the LSAT about a year ago. Before I started working with Michael, I was struggling to get the score that I wanted and needed to get into law school. After meeting with Michael twice a week for 3-4 months, everything started to click as he was able to help me simplify each question and pick the right answers, rather than over analyze which I had been doing. Through our sessions I was able to improve my score by 15 points. I applaud Michael for his patience and genuine service. I would highly recommend his company for anyone looking for tutoring services and achieving a more desirable score.
Eric tutored my daughter in Calculus II for about 8 weeks. He was always courteous/respectful, responsive, and timely. He was also flexible, willing to change the tutoring dates/times to accommodate our fluctuating schedules. My daughters Calculus II grade went from a D to B.
Shabnam is a good fit with my daughter. She is very patient with her, teaching the concept behind the topic and concern on how to improve her grade.
Mary worked with my son (a sophomore in high school) for nine weeks, and the change in my son's confidence with writing improved significantly. Starting in first grade he developed a dislike for writing, which over the years turning into almost a phobia. He was so intimidated by the process, that he would rather fail than turn in an essay. As a result, he never really learned HOW to write, and his anxiety increased. Mary worked with him, starting with the basics of how to map out and organize a persuasive essay. What took him hours before, he was able to accomplish in less than half an hour. It was very empowering, and helped him considerably with facing writing tasks. One thing that I didn't expect with a writing tutor was Mary's incorporation of subtle life coaching. She had him examine his motivations and his goals. They even did personality testing. I think it was very eye-opening for him to have the chance to look at himself from a different vantage point. Her approach is very supportive and validating. She knows what to ask to make you (both the student and the parent) feel important and interesting. Finally, one of the things I appreciated most as a parent, was that she sent me an email after every session detailing what they had done and explaining her plans for the next session. I can't recommend her highly enough.
Ive met lots of people that are multilingual, but none that have the command of speaking and writing several languages that Yolanda Goss has. I was fortunate enough to meet Yolanda when I was an undergraduate in college. While I was satisfied with passing three terms of French, she was mastering that and more taking courses in grammar, German, and working on a project where she taught English as a second language. My relationship proved very fortunate when I was recommended for a scholarship to attend a German university, where I would be taking undergraduate level courses at the University of Goettingen. This was a competitive scholarship and at the time, I only had one semesters worth of German. I needed to learn as much German as I possibly could and I knew that Yolanda could help me. Her plan was that during my senior undergraduate year I would skip straight from the first semester to the third semester. It turned out that I would be accepted in the third semester German class if I could prove mastery of the second semester through a spoken and written exam. Our goal was to pass that exam with Yolanda preparing for the grammar, vocabulary and speech component during the summer break. German is not a straightforward language with its three genders and tricky prepositions, but Yolanda made it seem easy, often illustrating her points with information from other languages. Long story short, I passed my entrance exam to third semester German with flying colors. My accomplishments in qualifying for third-semester German were certainly noticed and I was able to win my scholarship and go overseas. Furthermore, when I arrived at the University of Goettingen I passed the German comprehension exam with high marks on the very first attempt. I credit that achievement to Yolanda. Second semester German deals with future tenses and subjective constructions; its beyond introductory phrases and conversational vocabulary. Yolanda helped me build the foundation to put it all in perspective. Ive always been impressed with Yolandas ability to make learning languages seem simple. She has incredible patience and a real love for learning and teaching. I think shes a great resource for anyone needing an instructor, teacher or tutor and I give her a heartfelt recommendation.
