Do far so good, she has had two lessons with my headstrong 6 year old son and she has been patient with him and he has been really excited to show off what he has learned. She gives homework to reinforce what he is learning during his lessons .

I am a fan of piano lessons with Sean primarily because he works at your pace and works with the direction you want to move toward with your music. He is extremely flexible with scheduling lessons - I decided to meet on a bi-weekly basis and whenever a need has come up to postpone a lesson, he has always been very understanding and hasn't had any problem with rescheduling. I have only been taking lessons for a few months with Sean and this was my first time learning how to read and play piano music, but I can already hear the difference from what it was like when I first started to now. He does focus in on technique, yet also allows time for playing music that you want to play. If you're a student that enjoys a little more flexibility and less rigid lessons, this is the instructor for you. He is extremely reliable and great with responding back to you. His passion for piano music is clear and if you ever get a chance to hear him play, he's great to listen to on the piano!

I have been playing guitar for my own enjoyment for 40 years. As a boy I briefly had casual lessons in strumming along to popular music. The lessons weren't very serious or effective, and so I'm pretty much self taught. Over the years I've become an accomplished dilettante able to impress the nonmusicians, but always aware that I didn't really play very well. In all that time I've often wondered how the really talented musicians learned their craft, never more so than while watching my son's slow progress with the laughably unchallenging lessons at Bach to Rock. This Christmas I told my wife I would really enjoy having some serious instruction, and she went hunting for the best the region had to offer. She found Alexander Rani at NOVA. I progressed more in my first 4 lessons with Alexander than I have in the last decade. I see now how accomplished musicianship is not some unattainable feat of the few truly blessed. Proper technique and a little diligence can see even an old duffer like me making beautiful music. My wife, who thought I was ridiculous for wanting to take lessons when I already knew how to play, keeps telling me how shocked she is at the difference. I feel like an idiot for thinking it was beyond me and not seeking out a real teacher before. And that has been the difference: a real teacher. Alex is fabulous. I have to say I find it intimidating to be sitting down with such a tremendously accomplished musician. He is so at ease doing things I know are extremely difficult and he can throw in endless variations of his own creation seemingly without having to think at all. He is a concert quality guitarist of the very first order. However he is wonderful at making you feel at ease. He is kind and patient and never condescending or harsh. (And I promise, my playing should try his patience if anyone's will!). I won't say he makes it easy. Quite the opposite. Alex will challenge you at your level of ability. He will take you out of your comfort zone and on to the next skill or technique and tell you you are ready to do more. For me the first run through anything new seems completely alien, and many of these things I wouldn't have given more than a first try. But Alex patiently takes you through one little bite at a time and quickly it becomes more natural. In a short time you are doing things that you didn't think you had in you. And that has been the biggest surprise. I haven't gotten very far yet, but now I understand how it is done, how accomplished musicianship is attainable one skill at a time. Thanks, Alex.

I hired Bill for electric guitar lessons. I actually shopped for an instructor who would fit my learning style best. I learn by doing things hands-on, not so much auditory learning. After trying 4 different instructors, I decided Bill was the best fit for me. Other instructors were good but did not have what I was looking for such as: not teaching according to my learning style, not understanding my goals, or making me feel like I learned nothing after the first lesson. I felt none of these will Bill. After my first lesson with him, I knew he would be a great fit for me. You can just tell he has experience by interacting with him. I left the lesson feeling satisfied with the information I learned and that I am capable of reaching my goals. He takes his time with each lesson, does not rush, and welcomes all questions. He is patient with newbies like me and adept at explaining things in a manner that I will understand. I never feel overwhelmed with the information he gives. I like that he gives positive encouragement when you do something correctly. He will also help you correct you if you have bad form/technique. Bill is very professional, he responds to inquiries quickly. He has the knowledge, experience, and background to help you reach your goals. He has a great personality and is willing to work with your schedule. I highly recommend Bill as an instructor!

I have taken voice lessons before, however, never enjoyed the experience as I have with Momma Debbie Kirkland. Momma Debbie has a warm, fun, exciting, inviting, loving, motherly and caring spirit. She is an awesome teacher and singer. I felt major improvements in my breathing and voice dynamics. It has truly been a life changing experience that I will treasure forever and ever. After a great stint of piano and violin lessons, we just began with Johnny Walker, Aida's strings teacher, to start my son on cello. We are so impressed with him - he knows HOW to teach, asking questions, guiding my son to think and understand rather than a mere demonstrate-and-repeat style. My son immediately took to him and can hardly wait between lessons for the next. Thank you!

I’ve been taking guitar lessons from Gregg every other week for the last 6 months. The main reason I decided to seek out private guitar lessons from an instructor, was because I couldn’t get into online or DVD guitar lessons which I attempted for several months. Moreover, I’m old school when it comes down to music lessons, due to learning the cello through classroom instructor- based lessons from elementary to High School, along with private lessons thereafter. With that being said I can say I’ve made one of the best decisions towards enhancing my playing on the guitar by taking lessons with Gregg. When I first started taking lessons from Gregg, he provided an individual plan for me to help with learning scales, technique exercises, licks, and improvisation. He showed me how to make my own melodies on the guitar by using scale/chord relations. He provided the theory behind using various chords with scales which I did not gain from DVD or online guitar learning. He also broke down how much time I should spend on practicing the guitar to get where I want to be. He is very encouraging and will provide feedback to you which will enable you to improve in certain areas. I would like to recommend Gregg for beginner to intermediate players, as well as advanced players who are preparing for gigs. In addition, Gregg cannot practice for you, he can only provide lessons. I try to practice from 30 minutes to 2 hours a day depending on my daily schedule. Gregg is a great teacher, I am already playing with others (bassist and drummer) and using the skills he taught me to improvise my playing.

I have used Alvin Smithson's services for over five years as a piano tuner, teacher and performer. I am always impressed with his skills, artistry and professionalism. Alvin first came to tune my 100-years old Steinway after it had been neglected for a number of years. He first examined the instrument, diagnosed what needed to be done and then proceeded with his expert tuning. Immediately after he was done and started playing, I was amazed at how good the piano sounded. Alvin explained that with a piano that hasn't been tuned or played in so many years, it will take some time to achieve its best form and sound for which it was built. A short time after, my wife started taking piano lessons from Alvin and as she started gaining proficiency in playing under his guidance, the piano itself gained a rich pleasing sound. Alvin paid close attention and adjusted notes or did a full tuning whenever needed. He also took the time to clean the strings and do minor technical adjustments. When a string needed to be replaced, Alvin recommended a technician from a highly reputable company. Overall, we owe it to his expertise to have the wonderful old piano do what it was built for by the Steinway masters. I should also mention that I heard some great musicians at venues where Alvin is the regular piano tuner. People who visit our house and hear our piano, or play it themselves, always compliment its sound. But the best comes when Alvin himself sits at the keyboard, whether at our house, at a social function or performing in the theater, it's such a joy to hear him play some great classical pieces as well as his own wonderful compositions. He is truly a very talented, sensitive and highly knowledgeable artist. And such a pleasant person, too. My wife and I feel fortunate to have Alvin give us the best piano sound to enjoy live music in our home. I would recommend him to anyone as piano tuner, teacher and overall musician.

Yulia is absolutely incredible!! She has been working with my 12-year-old daughter to strengthen her voice. The results are immediate. I had the pleasure of viewing the first lesson and I am pleased that she ran through all the technical aspects of signing. My daughter will be performing in a talent show today and her confidence is through the roof, thanks to Yulia. I recommend this coach 100%.

My experience with Mr. Penney is unparalleled and unequal with respect to any other voice teacher I've ever had. I thought a longtime voice teacher was the best until she passed away and I had to find a new teacher. Then I found Mr. Penney and I've never looked back. Everyone noticed a difference in my voice once I started lessons with him. He hears things in your voice like no one else and he is able to translate that into advice and guidance that enables his students of all ages to reach their potential and their goals.

Singing in church choirs has been a wonderful outlet and enabled me to find a community as I moved every few years to different parts of the globe. Finally putting down roots, I wanted to find a voice coach who would help me improve breath control, strengthen the range of my voice, and improve the overall quality of my singing. I am blessed to have found Keely Bosworth Borland, a gifted soprano and performer. Keely has been the perfect coach for me. She has a unique ability to both nurture and push me. Keely has identified and helped me work on my breath control. She has used a wide variety of music to foster my confidence while stretching my vocal range. Her lessons include a selection of vocal warm-ups and breathing exercises each week that compliment the music we sing. I have found that recording her lessons and rehearsing them between lessons to be of great help. I highly recommend Keely to anyone looking for a voice coach from the novice to the serious performer.

Vicky has been a great fit for our son. He is almost 13, but with the deep voice of a 21-year old. Being autistic, proper singing is not only fun, but also an integral part of breathing and speech for him. Vicky has been knowledgeable and very patient!

John Kunu is flexible in his approach to teaching, he brings many styles & skills to the keyboard, and he is willing to teach to what the goals of the student are rather than a regimented steps approach. John has been my daughter's piano teacher for several years. We are a musical family so it was important to us to choose a teacher with the depth in classical but also the breadth of knowledge in contemporary pop music, in order to keep our teen engaged in what she was learning. John's flexibility to teach to her interest areas while still making sure she mastered foundational skills and repertoire are rare in a piano teacher. We love that he weaves both classical instruction and improvisation so that a student is comfortable playing a piece of Bach as well as the latest songs on the radio. This has kept the learning fresh and relevant. But the greatest thing of all is when we hear our daughter wander over to the piano and just play -- she sounds beautiful and it is utter joy hearing your child make music and know that she will have this for a lifetime.

I studied voice with Dorothy Miller for over four years, and I loved every lesson I had with her! I began taking voice lessons in eighth grade because I loved musical theater, but I could not sing. I was absolutely tone-deaf and I couldn't even read music. When I first began with Dorothy, she gave me nothing but continuous encouragement and support, teaching me the most basic techniques necessary for singing. As I progressed through the years, I not only overcame my tone-deafness but actually became a good singer. She helped me to expand my range by over an octave, adding notes to the top and bottom of my range. I now have a range of nearly three octaves when I began barely able to sing an octave scale. In addition to voice, Dorothy also helped me prepare for various auditions as well as taught me to read music and some basic music theory. She also has experience with acting, especially with musical theater, so some of my lessons were dedicated specifically to enhancing my acting skills, both with and without music. Over the years, I began to develop a friendship with Dorothy because she really takes time to get to know her students on a personal level and always loves to sit and chat before and after her lessons. She always made me laugh and was very kind. I never left a voice lesson without a smile on my face, and I always looked forward to returning the following week. I loved studying under Dorothy so much that I recommended her to four of my best friends, who also took lessons with her for multiple years. I now am in my second year of college and no longer am able to take lessons with Dorothy anymore. However, I still make it a point to catch up with her whenever I have a break to talk about how my semester has been, and it is like I never left. I would give Dorothy Miller Vocal Studio 10/5 stars if I could because she is absolutely phenomenal, and I would recommend her to anyone in a heartbeat. I am very lucky to have been her student, and I wouldn't be where I am today without her.

I hired Jack and one of his associates for jazzy background music at my house on two separate occasions. He was easy to work with, arrived on time, and his fee was very reasonable given his high talent level. I have no hesitation in recommending Jack for his music service, whether to play at an event or for music lessons. And I would definitely use him again.
