Hire this Company! I live in an old house in the suburbs surrounded by trees and bushes now and moved here from the city (apartments) where I never had to worry about pest, bugs, spiders etc In our old house now there is spider webs outside on the window and occasional spider coming through and silverfish from the basement. I don't like it, yuuuck Dave was nice and patient with me answering all my questions that only a clueless city person would ask :-) Very quick in responding, extremely professional and very kind person. He sprayed inside and out and will be back monthly for the season. I trust his work is great as they also give a guarantee. Hire this company and don't look anywhere else.

Kolley’s is the BEST! A family owned business and a great value! How often do you get a quick response, great service and excellent follow up from a company—all at a terrific price? I had another exterminator (who was more expensive) come to remove a yellow jacket nest. Turns out he did not do a thorough job. We still had yellow jackets and we were expecting guests with a 16 month old toddler to visit for several days. I spoke to Gene and he was fantastic! He added us to his busy schedule before a holiday weekend. He spent a lot of time inspecting the exterior of our house and found another huge nest we were unaware of. He treated and removed it, told me what to expect over the next few days and said to expect I’d need follow up treatment — at NO additional charge. He even gave me his cell phone, knowing I was worried about the toddler going outside. There was a 90% reduction after the first treatment. I called and told him there were a few remaining and he came out the same day. AND he gave me a 2 month guarantee if I see any more yellow jackets. Gene is friendly and knowledgeable, I couldn’t be more impressed! Great service, great value!!!

Prompt response, I think Ej and her crew did a wonderful job. I have had this bee issue for months in my office space. I tried several other pest control companies and it seems as though they didn't know what they were doing. Ej's Pest Control was able to come in, inspect the issue, give suggestions, and solve the problem. Fantastic work! I will recommend them.

The people I spoke to were all polite, friendly, and professional. The technician showed up right on time and listened to my concerns. They applied treatments to all our problem spots - outside, inside, and external shed. I will update my review when there's an opportunity to observe the effectiveness of the pest treatments.

I found coordinating a service appointment was very easy via phone and email. The technician, Jeff, did a fantastic job. He showed me what he was looking for, he de-webbed everything to see if there were any issues I hadn't identified. He treated the areas I needed, and a few extra areas to be sure of the results. I was moving boxes in the basement later that day and pleasantly surprised to NOT find any live insects. This will be my pest treatment company in the future.

They gave us an excellent quote of $65 for ant extermination. When I spoke with them, they gave me a higher quote (can't remember what it was but it was more than $65). I asked them about the original quote and they told me that they set up an automated message that quotes people at $65. Ultimately, they said they would honor the $65 for being first time clients. When they arrived at the house, I told them where our ant problems were. He told me that it would cost $135. Again, I brought up the original quote and said we reached out to them bc of this good deal. They finally agreed to the $65. Well...it was a complete waste of money. They were in and out in less than 5 minutes. They put these gel bait traps down that we could have just done for ourselves and for much less. They didn't even spray. Seriously, they put 4 ant traps down, didn't even do the whole house, 2 in the kitchen and 2 outside - for $65. Completely ridiculous and uncalled for to charge that much for something we could have done ourselves. Ultimately I feel like we really got scammed and I'm incredibly disappointed in this company. My husband is LIVID. If the owner reads this, I feel like we are owed a complete refund or at least a discount of some kind. This work and service was completely below par.

A $225 job turned into $1,659 after several other recommendations were made. Not being an exterminator, I really have no way of knowing whether all of them were really necessary or not so I trusted Serge was giving me sound recommendations. Serge and his guy were very professional and really have an extensive list of abilities beyond just pest control. They even threw in a couple of little jobs at no cost because they could do them quickly while they were here!

Richard was wonderful !!! I was very worried I had bed bugs and he came out the very next day for a free inspection. He was friendly and obviously new what he was doing. He educated me about the proses, what to look for and how to Provent them as he did a thorough surch. He was very patient with all my questions and my 2 year old who really wanted to help him. I never felt he was in a rush. The surch came up clean but he still sent me an email full of information to provent bed bugs. I just couldn't be more pleased. If we ever do get bed bugs he is defiantly my go to man. Thank you so much Richard I will defiantly get a good night sleep now :0)

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you get bed bugs and how do you get rid of them?

The increase in bed bug infestations in the U.S. is a result of increased travel, lack of knowledge about preventing infestations, increased resistance of bed bugs to pesticides, and ineffective pest control practices, explains the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It’s easy to mistake bed bugs for carpet beetles or similar-looking bugs, so infestations are often not noticed when they first occur. Prevention tips include keeping areas free of clutter, regularly washing sheets and mattress covers in hot water (and don’t forget to wash the laundry bag, too), and vacuuming regularly and safely disposing of the sealed vacuum bag. Not everyone has reactions to bed bug bites, which also may be mistaken for the bites of other pests such as mosquitoes, so timely bed bug extermination depends on identification of bed bug activity. If you notice physical signs of an infestation, contact a bed bug extermination professional as soon as possible to learn about chemical and non-chemical (such as heat) treatment options. An integrated pest management plan may incorporate one or more methods.

What do pest control companies do?

Pest control companies handle all aspects of bug, rodent and animal extermination or removal. Pest control professionals visit your home or office to identify the type of pest that is troubling you and offer various treatment plans — complete with clearly outlined costs. Once you and the pest control company have a signed agreement, the pro will begin treatment. Pest treatment can range from the use of spray pesticides and gel bait to live and/or kill traps. There are a wide range of types of pesticides, many of them nontoxic for humans and other small animals. This means you may be able to have your home treated for pests without harming nearby wildlife or your dog and cat. The pest control pro will carry out the treatment plan and, depending on the service agreement, provide follow-up such as emptying traps, inspecting access points, or reapplying pesticide spray if the pests return. Costs will vary based on the type of pest you are having removed and the extent of the infestation. The average national pest control price range is $80-$130. From a minor bedbug event to an entire home termite infestation, pest control companies have got you covered.

How do you get rid of termites?

The best way to get rid of termites is to act fast. Termites are a problem that will only get worse — and no matter how much you want them to, they usually don’t magically move out on their own. There are three main types of termites: drywood, dampwood and subterranean. Drywood and dampwood termites sneak through cracks in your exterior paint, nail holes, and gaps near windows and other openings and begin to eat through your wood. Subterranean termites enter your house from the ground up by creating mud tunnels. In all cases, they survive by eating the wood of your house. The type of termites you have can steer the treatment plan.

Methods of termite extermination include fumigation, use of pesticides, and use of natural elements that are poisonous to the bugs. The extent of your termite infestation will help determine the treatment method. If you have drywood or dampwood termites that have infiltrated all aspects of the wood in your home, the pest control pro may recommend enclosing the whole house in a tent and gassing the termites via fumigation. If you have subterranean termites, often the entire footprint of the home must be treated by drilling liquid treatments into the slab or foundation of the home to exterminate the colonies. In any case, once you see signs of termites, it’s time to take action and call a pest pro.

How much does it cost to remove a mouse?

If you have a mouse in your house you’re probably quickly researching pest control costs. Mice, although tiny, can transmit diseases and also get into your food and leave unsanitary droppings around your home. If you have seen one mouse in your house, it’s likely that more have taken up residence in your crawl space, attic or basement. The national average pest control cost is $150-$200. Costs can vary depending on whether you need to get rid of a population of living mice or just dispose of a dead mouse (or full traps), how extensive the mouse population is, and where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pest control cost for removing a mouse:

  • $150 for initial trap setup and inspection (and sealing of entry holes).
    • $50 for rodent removal service calls and emptying of traps. This visit can also include identifying and sealing entry points that were not sealed on the first visit.
  • Rodent extermination: $110-$350, depending on how heavy the rodent population is, whether the mouse infestation poses health risks, how many entrances exist and how many rodent bait stations are needed.

How much does it cost to kill bed bugs?

The cost of bed bug extermination depends primarily on how widespread the pest infestation is and how many rooms need to be treated. Other factors that can affect bed bug extermination costs are the amount of clutter in the location, additional furniture that needs to be treated, and construction of the home. Pest management professionals often have rates for room treatments, which can vary based on these factors. As an example, a pest management company treating a 10-by-15-foot room with light infestation might charge clients about $250, while the same size room with a heavy infestation and large amounts of clutter might cost the clients $300-$400. Clutter and heavier bed bug populations mean more product and longer labor time for the workers. Rates will vary from company to company, and from region to region, but the national average bed bug extermination cost is $320-$400. Bed bug heat treatments are an alternative way to exterminate these pests. Heat treatments are typically charged per square foot and tend to cost more than chemical or non-chemical spray solutions. Although effective, they are not usually recommended for occupied spaces, as the extreme temperatures can damage televisions, window dressings and other home furnishings.
