I love working with Cornelius. We meet twice a week and July will be my 3rd month of having him help me with fitness and strength training. There are many reasons why I would recommend him. Here are a few. I am 45 year old woman, 5.5 in height and weigh 230lbs. I was a strong swimmer when I was younger, but have never spent much time in gyms. I would describe myself as having little to no awareness of myself as someone who can train. But I did know that I needed and wanted to get into much better shape. I was also excited about developing better balance, a stronger core, and even new skills like boxing. When I met Cornelius he asked me detailed questions about why I was there and began to develop a program around my strengths, goals and limitations, which included a lower back injury and tendinitis in my left elbow. Every time we meet he asks briefly on how I am doing, and I know he is thinking through the workout to take me to the limit of my capabilities while still ensuring that it is enjoyable. I always have a great time and am tired but invigorated when I leave. This has altered how I view exercise and feel about myself. The gym where we train is tiny but has taught me important things about how less is more, and that you can do a lot with what's around you. This has been a huge help in keeping on training when traveling as you don't need to find a gym but can do many things to build strength and keep in shape where you are. Finally, I feel safe and respected working with Cornelius in the little gym and know that we are on a steady positive path to making real and lasting improvements to my health and wellbeing. I can't think of a better investment to make than that.

Chris helped me train for about a month and I have learnt so much from the sessions. He taught me the basics of strength training and how I could combine that along with my cardio sessions. I was getting very bored of my treadmill and Chris encouraged me to try new techniques to boost my training so that i could get a kick out of my work outs! He introduced me to circuits. I've been training with Nate several times a week for over 5 years, and I couldn't be more pleased with my progress, fitness level (strength, duration, flexibility), and the ongoing challenge and diversity of workouts -- they're never boring and incorporate strength, stability and core, time under tension, and functional training for every part of my body. In addition, Nate's a nice guy with a great sense of humor, so the workouts are tough but enjoyable. After his initial assessment, he continued to take the time to get know me individually and has a vested interest in my health, well being, strengths, and weaknesses (he enjoys identifying and having me work on my weaknesses!). Nate works hard with each of his clients and he customizes each workout for their individual needs and goals. I have always been reluctant to get a personal trainer because I thought I could do it myself; not to mention it was very costly. After months of frustration not seeing the results I expected, I decided to post on Thumbtack to get pricing for personal training. I received multiple calls and emails from various trainers in the area. Robert, from Fitness Stop, called with detailed information about his weight loss and strength training plan. Because of the information he provided, and I can assure you the other trainers did not give me this information, I was convinced I needed to meet with him for an initial assessment. After 6 weeks of following his plan, I've lost a little over 4% body fat and gained lean muscle mass. Not only do I feel healthier and more energetic, I've lost weight and inches! I've worked with majority of their trainers, and they are all amazing! Each workout is different to prevent your body from hitting a plateau. Not only that, but it breaks of the monotony of the average mundane workout. I would 110% recommend Fitness Stop for not only weight loss but overall improvement of health.

This was my first time using a personal trainer, too. My kids, aged 9, 12, and 15, and I wanted to prepare for a hike across the Grand Canyon. We interviewed several trainers and hired Svetness in the end because 1) they required a 2-day a week minimum commitment - they didn't want to invest in us unless we were willing to make a serious commitment; 2) they offered meal planning guidance to coordinate with our training goals; and 3) they have a team of trainers so if one trainer wasn't a good fit personality-wise or not compatible with our busy family schedule, then there was always someone else to try. We were nervous that it might be too intense for us as becoming body-builders is not really high on our list of desired life-time achievements, but I can honestly say that misconception couldn't be farther from the truth. Over the course of a year we worked with 3 different trainers - all of which were great! They each had a different approach but we saw noticeable results with each. They all did a fabulous job of accurately assessing where we were physically and gradually build a plan for us so that we would improve our strength and endurance. The workouts were varied, so we were never bored, and they required us to use and build different muscle groups over time, fluctuating between strength conditioning and cardio. All of the trainers were WONDERFUL with the kids - modifying exercises so each of us could succeed and advance at our own ability level - and they kept it light and fun! Let's be clear, they worked us hard - oftentimes the kids and I would compare notes the next day about how sore we were! But the trainers were ALWAYS encouraging and never demeaning, no matter how out of shape we were or how much we struggled with an exercise. Worthy of note: we chose the 2-day-a-week commitment and made it a priority to exercise at least 3 additional days each week, which certainly contributed to our progress. With 30-40lb backpacks, we hiked across the Grand Canyon in 100+degree heat with ease. The kids improved drastically in their sports (baseball, basketball, and field hockey). We ran a 5K together (a first for all of us!) and made decent time. We weren't as sick this past year and have had more stamina in general. And as an added bonus, we have grown closer together as a family. This whole training thing has been a great experience for us - so much so that we have decided to continue with a second year with Svetness. Right now our training goal is just general fitness, with an emphasis on the things that will help the kids with their sports, but we are actively thinking about what our next physical challenge should be!

I can’t say enough good things about Julian! We definitely hit the jackpot with him and in a very short time, he’s become a great trainer, mentor and role model for my 15 year old son who has wanted to increase his strength/stamina while working on his soccer skills. Julian very quickly responded to my search for a personal trainer and was incredibly professional during our introductory call. It was evident that his knowledge of /experience with soccer as a player and coach would be a good match for my son. He also shared his philosophy about strength training with kids, specifically how he seeks to understand what motivates and is important to them, so he could then weave in his expertise which ultimately would result in a truly customized program to help accomplish their goals. He was eager to “meet” my son and scheduled some time to speak with him personally over the phone and get to know him. I have trained with Tim on and off for the past 5 years. He has helped me to reach the various goals I set for myself over the years . . . from increasing fitness level, losing weight, shaping my body and overcoming and preventing injury. He has always been professional, supportive and very motivating. I met Tim shortly after having my son and my goal was to return to pre-baby shape and fitness level. Tim helped me to meet the pre-baby shape goal and exceeded the fitness level goal I had set. The workouts were always challenging and motivating. Tim and I usually met twice a week for 30 minutes of high intensity interval training (I would warm up and cool down on my own). At this point my cardio endurance was low and he really helped me to increase it. After meeting my goal I was able to maintain our progress on my own at the gym using the knowledge I gained from my sessions with Tim. Two years later, I realized I was slipping on my own (I love to eat and drink red wine!) and contacted Tim to regain the shape and fitness level we had previously established. Tim assessed my fitness level and created workouts that met my needs. Tim is great at identifying areas of weakness and tailoring exercises to strengthen those areas. Our workouts were typically 30 minutes, twice a week. This time, Tim began incorporating a lot more weight training. After several months of working with Tim, I once again exceeded my goals and I was stronger and more fit than I had ever been. I was able to go back to working out on my own, using the workouts and information I had gained from him, and maintain my fitness level. I frequently have people commenting about the exercises I am doing in the gym . . . they are impressed and want to use them! When I returned to Body Pump, the instructor also commented on how my strength had increased! Just last year I contacted Tim again. After several injuries (not from working out) and ongoing treatment and physical therapy, I was very frustrated with my body. Tim listened, in detail, as I explained my injuries and the problems/pain I was having trying to workout on my own and participate in classes at the gym. Based on what he heard and saw me doing he created workouts that helped to correct improper techniques I was using (due to injury) and strengthen muscles to help prevent further injury. After working with a physical therapist 3 times a week for many months, I did not see any improvement. After working with Tim 2-3 times a week for just a few weeks, I saw huge improvement! Currently, Tim has once again helped me to reach my highest fitness level yet.

I can't begin to describe how great Rachaad Is. You will see results and you won't be disappointed.  But the awesome part is - he keeps you motivated.  He believes in you when you don't think you can and he let's you know it.  He just doesn't give up on you.  And his optimistic attitude helps keep you focused on the goal.   After three months, I have upper body strength for the first time in my life (I have never been able to do push-ups before now). You cannot put a price tag on feeling the best physically you have in years. Aric has opened my eyes and subjected my body to a form of training that was entirely foreign to me (and will be to many other former athletes, weekend warriors, or sedentary desk workers), and yet something I now believe is absolutely vital to almost all human beings. Training with Aric will improve your FLEXIBILITY (increased range of motion, decreased pain, and increased strength through proper muscle function), BALANCE, CONCENTRATION (Train Mindfully as Aric would say), COORDINATION, and of course STRENGTH. An unanticipated benefit is that it may also have you BREATHING BETTER (improved endurance, less anxiety, more energy) than you ever have before. Here's a little about my story that may ring a bell to many people out there: I was a former college soccer player who had suffered a couple sport-related injuries left me unable to find my way back to the field for about 2 years. I had tried multiple physical therapists, chiropractic, you name it to regain my athletic prowess. What I DIDN'T realize that the things affecting me most weren't my ankle or knee surgeries, but rather the imbalances, weaknesses, and compensations I had developed from years of bad posture sitting in a desk job and doing traditional workouts at the gym. MANY IF NOT ALL of you have these without realizing it and you're robbing yourself of feeling and performing your best.To give you an idea of the types of issues I was dealing with and you may be dealing with here are a few examples: anterior pelvic tilt, shortened hip flexors, hip misalignment, tight neck, inflexible shoulders, tight pectoral muscles (thanks a lot bench press), weak core strength (six pack "abs" are not core strength), and more. These types of things DO NOT go away in a workout or two as they're built up over a number of years; your body is great at adapting (unfortunately in most cases with people who work a 9-5 at a desk this is a bad thing). I can pretty confidently say that Aric is one of the only personal trainers in the DC area adept at identify these types of issues, and coming up with the perfect plan to correct them. If you are an athlete looking to improve your performance or return after an injury, a sedentary desk worker experiencing back or knee pain, or just ANY HUMAN BEING give Aric a call. I guarantee that his breadth of knowledge and mindful training techniques will have you feeling better than you have in years. If you want an overnight solution I recommend you stop reading this right now and go back to whatever fantasy land you live in. If you're willing to be patient and put in the time and effort it takes to see improvement the RIGHT way (i.e. helping your body versus hurting it more through "traditional" methods) then I highly suggest you get in with Aric before his business blows up and he no longer has time for new clients. When I first met Dimitri over a year ago, I had a long way to go on my fitness journey and was a little bit intimidated about starting a training program. During our first training session I nearly passed out because I was out of shape, and I wasn’t fueling my body the way I needed.
