IDEATION - Leveraging my experience to help you refine your idea for novelty, practicality, manufacturability, and scalability. (This can include an analysis of your value proposition and/or business model if applicable) 2. CAD MODELING - 3D models of your product for each component and assembly with accurate dimensions, materials, and surface finishes. I use a parametric modeling approach to capture your design intent with critical features and to easily make changes as we progress through the project. 3. ANIMATIONS | RENDERS - CAD model animations and images to show functionality, aesthetics, and features of a design. 4. SIMULATIONS & ANALYSIS - Simulating loads, conditions, and environments on a design then using FEA to review its integrity. 5. PROTOTYPING - Using rapid prototyping methods to create physical samples of your product for testing form, fit, function, ergonomics, and aesthetics. (This is typically an iterative process) 6. TECHNICAL DRAWINGS - Engineering drawings with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) for components and exploded diagrams with BOM for assemblies. 7. PROVISIONAL PATENTS - Detailed documents that contain the necessary information to protect your concept/product/innovation and used as a reference when drafting claims in a utility patent application. 8. SUPPLIER SOURCING - Searching, vetting, negotiating, and working with various domestic and international component/product suppliers to build a robust supply chain for your product. 9. DFM (Design for Manufacturing) - Updating your 3D model considering the chosen mass production technique. (e.g., draft angles, ribs, parting line, assembly procedure) 10. I DO NOT offer Architectural Drafting, Building Design, Home Additions, or Civil Engineering Drawings. Please contract an architectural draftsman for those needs. I DO offer Mechanical design, Consumer product design, Medical products, Start up product development, and just about everything else! Please try and provide as many details as possible when requesting an estimate. I am the owner operator of Curvature. I have been working with engineers, designers, and industrial designers since 1990. I have completed countless projects in just about every industry from material handling to consumer sport products. Curvature is my passion built on a life's work. I built my reputation and this consultancy the good old fashioned way. With hard work, attention to detail, and an uncompromising dedication to customer satisfaction. Bring me your napkin sketches, your garage prototypes, or just an idea you have in your mind's eye. I will provide a complete turn key service to help you design your product into something marketable. I will start by creating a 3D CAD file of your idea, then help you get it prototyped, put you in touch with a good patent attorney, provide rendered images of the product for your web pages and emails. And finally I can help you obtain the best possible manufacturing pricing. I am your "one stop shop" for all things related to the design and development of your product! “Being a design consultancy has taught me how to stay nimble, cutting edge, and highly efficient. Being faster, providing higher quality, using better tools, and re-thinking how I do things on a continual basis is the way I stay ahead of my competition. My pricing and lead times are hard to beat!” “Experience matters! Curvature was founded in 2005, but I have worked in the field as a designer/draftsman since 1990. From injection molded plastic parts to structural steel weldments and everything in between. I know what I am doing, because I have been at this for a long time! I am extremely experienced in complex surface modeling of organic shapes. That’s the hard stuff that so many CAD guys can’t do. Industrial Designers love to work with me, because my CAD models actually look like the original illustrations!”See more

I own a photo booth business, and I had an idea for a new concept. I connected with Scott (on thumbtack) and it has turned out to be a great crash course learning experience in engineering/fabrication! One of the reasons that I went with Scott was that he was excellent about following up. It took us a few weeks to actually commence on the project (due to me being busy with other aspects of the business), and all this time he would follow up with me and when it was time to get started, he was ready to go. The design process was very thorough and extensive. He asked me what I envisioned for this photo booth and created very detailed CAD models that I could look at every step of the way. All the while, teaching me about aspects of engineering which in itself was very helpful. Keep in mind that we were doing this all remotely because I live near San Francisco and he is in Portland. This project took a few months of designing and a few weeks of fabrication, and when it finally came to fruition I met him at the fabrication place where I saw the photo booth for the first time, which was very surreal to me because this idea that I had in my head was now a reality. I'm very happy with the result - our photo booth now looks very professional and is quite easy to setup (which were 2 of our main goals of the project). Scott is very down to earth and easy to talk to so you can tell him exactly what you're thinking. Will definitely work with him in the future if we have any other projects!See more
