Mr. McCright’s experiences are unique among advisors. He has an extensive business background. He grew up on his family’s farm in Iowa and graduated from Southern Illinois University Magna Cum Laude before earning his MBA from Harvard Business School. He is a veteran of five business startups including one in which, as the first employee and CEO, he grew the company from start-up to $240 million in sales and 950 employees in just three years. He has experience in agribusiness, construction, the food sector, and franchising, among other industries. His experiences have led him through General Manager, Vice President, COO, CFO, President, and CEO responsibilities. While working as a senior consultant for one of the top rated Family Business Consulting firms in the world, Mr. McCright has advised numerous Gen 1 through Gen 5 family businesses. His first-hand understanding of family business issues allows him to expertly address both the emotional and subjective, as well as the technical business and management issues for his family business clients.
Helping clients work through challenging issues, whether it is management or ownership succession planning, strategic planning or family communication is rewarding. These are often emotionally charged issues and ones that the families have had little experience dealing with. To see solid plans put in place and greater family harmony is something I derive a lot of personal satisfaction from.
