Imaginola Photography did my daughters sweet 15 party. They we're very friendly, they remained professional thruout party. I liked the software for the Booth. Everyone loved it. Some people said they wished they had more props, but all in all everyone went crazy for it. It was a huge success. I would definitely get them to do another party for me. Jenny

We hired Mr. and Mrs. Glory Clown for our daughter's 1st Birthday party. From the moment of the first interaction, to the very end of their performance, they were both AMAZING! Booking was super easy and their quoted price was the most competitive (you get 2 individuals for the price of 1!). I had a few kids in my party with "clown phobia," and Mr. and Mrs. Glory Clown were very accomodating. They wore these cute shirts (instead of their clown costumes). Mr. Glory Clown called to confirm the event details a few days before. He also called the venue of our event. They were punctual and got right to work. While Mrs. Glory did face painting, Mr. Glory did animal balloons. Kids were over the moon! Then they proceeded to do their comedy magic show, which the kids loved. Our daughter was 1, so she was too young to participate. But I loved that they incorporated the parents in the show, which was a nice touch. On top of doing an amazing job entertaining the kids, Mr. and Mrs. Glory Clown gave us a box of super delicious glazed donuts and a stuffed animal to every child. Overall, it was a A+++++++ experience. Thank you so much! We won't hesitate to call you next time we are in town!

Lexie was awesome as a face painter for my friend's birthday party! She was arrived early so she could be ready to start on time. She even wore a mask to match the Mardi Gras theme of the party. She did a great job of painting faces for both kids and adults; everyone shared that they loved her work and enjoyed her personality. I would 100% recommend her services and use her again for any future event.

We hired Yolanda a second time to entertain our guests with tarot card readings at a wedding rehearsal dinner. She also brought along a friend, Lydia, who is a medium. Not surprisingly, Yolanda and Lydia were a bit hit. The guests loved the experience and I heard several relating with amazement how eerily accurate the readings were. I highly recommend Yolanda. She is very professional and a pleasure to work with.

Bryan did a fantastic job taking photos at our daughters 7 years old Shopkin party. Each child was able to take numerous pictures throughout the two hour event. Bryan made it so much fun and had a lot of patience with the 40 little Girls. I highly recommend anyone thinking of a photobooth to hire Picture Podium Open Air Booths. Thank you Bryan for making our daughters birthday memorable.

Mr. and Mrs. Glory Clown were amazing! I hired them to provide the balloon twisting services for my friend's 50th birthday party weekend in New Orleans. They were professional and prepared; they arrived early so they could be ready to go at the event start time. They were super fun; the adults and kids both enjoyed them. Their balloons were awesome! They were extremely easy to work as I planned the event from North Carolina. Overall, great service and value. I 100% recommend their services and would definitely use them again for any future events.

Arielle provided the photo booth for our daughter's Quinceañera party. She arrived early to set up a was a true professional from the moment I hired her company until the end of the event. Everything was perfect. She is very prompt responding emails/phone calls; the setup, pictures and props are of very high quality and good taste! Don't fall for a cheaper offer. You might find another company with lower prices, but you will get either a self-service photo booth without an attendant (you don't want that) or a totally tasteless, bad quality photo booth with a bad attitude kid. And on top of that, he is probably setting up the booth when the party already started because he was late!

I saw them perform at a bar. It was excellent, seriously their chemistry was palpable and infectious. It was clear how much they both love performing. Their harmonies were on point and the balance between them was perfect.

Stephen played solo piano at my businesses soft opening and it really made the night special. I requested some quiet and sophisticated music that would allow my guests to still be able to chat and he did exactly what I asked for. I would definitely recommend this musician for a private party or business function and I will be having him back for any of my future events. His music exceeded my expectations.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      What is a mariachi band?

Mariachi bands are rooted in Mexican culture. Traditional mariachi bands consisted of two or more members playing stringed instruments, wearing regional costumes adapted from the charro (Mexican horseman or cowboy). Modern mariachi bands, which are likely what you’re looking for when searching for a mariachi band for hire, feature at least four members who play stringed instruments (violin, vihuela, bass guitar called guitarron) and one or more trumpets. The costumes have remained the same, but now trumpets are synonymous with mariachi music. Mariachi bands for hire often play a wide range of music, including styles originating from Mexico and adopted from elsewhere. These include jarabes, waltzes, serenades, corridos (Mexican ballads), ranchera, cumbia, and more. Mariachi bands for hire bring a festive and soulful element to a party, birthday, wedding, corporate affair, fundraiser or community event. UNESCO has inscribed mariachi music on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

What is a photo booth rental?

A party photo booth is a fun, interactive experience where guests can take a series of photos (usually three or four) that are immediately printed out on a strip as a keepsake. When you rent a party photo booth, the company sets up the booth or photo station at your event; a photographer staffs the booth and coaches guests on how to use it throughout the event. Often the photo booth rental company provides props like silly hats, wigs and glasses. There are different types of party photo booth rentals. An open-air booth has a curtain or backdrop that allows more freedom of movement and enables more people to use it at one time. The traditional enclosed photo booths that you may have seen at the mall or the fair tend to cost more to rent, as they are harder to transport and also cost more for the pros to purchase. The national average cost for party photo booth rentals is $400-$500.

What does a fortune teller do?

A fortune teller offers insight into people’s past, present and future through private readings. Some fortune tellers read palms or use tarot cards, runes, or tea leaves to see into a client’s future. Other fortune tellers consider themselves psychics, numerologists and mystics who look for patterns and meaning in seemingly random events, such as stirred tea leaves or the draw of a tarot card. By interpreting what they see in the cards or leaves, fortune tellers answer their clients’ questions about their lives, such as who or when they’ll marry, whether they should quit their job, or whether they should have a baby. Tarot card readings are a particularly popular way of having your future told, because they’re such a familiar method of fortune telling. More importantly, you can guide a tarot reading by asking the specific questions that are most important to you. By interpreting the cards you’ve drawn, the fortune teller may give you new insight into yourself and help you make an important decision. For some people, fortune tellers are simply amusing, but for others, they offer helpful guidance and spiritual nourishment.

How many mariachis can a band have?

A mariachi band for hire can have as many players as you like. Modern mariachi bands typically have a minimum of four players with the trumpet playing a vital musical role along with stringed instruments such as the violin, guitarrón (a Mexican bass guitar with a deep body), vihuela (a Spanish stringed guitar) and guitar. Strong vocals are also an important component of mariachi bands for hire, since one or more of the players will be singing during the performance. For a truly spectacular show, you can hire a mariachi band with 15 or more players. The medley of stringed instruments, multiple trumpets, soaring vocals, and even an accordion or harp is powerful and beautiful. Mariachis typically wear the traditional costume of charros — Mexican horsemen. The look is a very regal, monotone suit, often in black or white, with silver adornments and embroidery. Mariachi bands often wear sombreros as well. Traditional mariachi bands were only made up of two or more players, according to a UNESCO report celebrating the cultural heritage of the musical style. The style of music originated in the state of Jalisco. Now the style of music is symbolic of Mexico but is celebrated all over the world, and adds a fabulous vibrancy to any group’s events, parties and weddings.

How much does a mariachi band cost?

A mariachi band will bring your party or event alive with their fabulous costumes, beautiful playing and strong vocals. The cost of a mariachi band for hire will depend on how many players are in the group. Each musician in a performance group needs to be paid, so pricing is usually based on the number of mariachis (musicians), the location of the event (and travel time required), and the length of the performance. Day of the week also affects cost, as does day — Christmas, New Year’s Eve and other major holidays will cost more than regular days. The national average cost for live bands of all types ranges between $740 and $1,200. Depending on where you live and regional rates for performers, you might expect to pay between $65 and $120 per hour, per player. Mariachi groups may have 12-15 players available for performance at one time, depending on your budget. Here are some examples of how the number of players affects average cost:

      • Four mariachis: $300 per hour for weeknights, $400 per hour for weekends.
      • Five mariachis: $350 per hour for weeknights, $400-$450 per hour for weekends. Weekends may have a minimum number of hours.
      • Six mariachis: $400 per hour for weeknights, $450-$500 per hour for weekends.
