In 2012 I walked into a local gym in West New York feeling defeated and unmotivated. I was at minimal 100 lbs over weight and felt terrible about myself. I asked for a trainer at the front desk and told them what I was looking for and within minutes they said we have the girl for you. I saw Tiffany , and at first I thought oh God how can this happy energetic beautiful perfect 20 something year old possibly be able to understand me and motivate me I already wanted to walk out and eat a bag of Doritos. I decided to go ahead with the first meeting already planning on canceling. Well here I am now reviewing her years later which means .. She is FANTASTIC! I worked with tiff for years until she moved back south. Within the first year I dropped over 100 lbs was wearing skirts to work and feeling GREAT about myself and she CHANGED MY LIFE ! She is Brilliant, dedicated, understanding and reliable to say the least. She helped me understand food, nutrition, and exercise and coached me through the journey all the way!

I gained a bit of weight during my marriage and upon separating from my spouse I needed a kick start and so I looked up fitness coaches in New Orleans. These guys were the second company I worked with and with whom I still train and plan my nutrition. My confidence and self esteem are sky high and given the value I receive in life coaching and fitness I see myself working with them for life.

We're especially grateful to have found Melanie. After 2 sessions, I can see the difference that her thai yoga is making in my son's life. She is an active listener and extremely knowledgeable about this practice. She has assessed some key issues to help us through the recovery process not just through thai yoga but, nutrition as well.

Sammy is an awesome trainer. He provides you with everything you need to succeed. I love that one of the first things he does with you is explain your overall body assessment by measuring your BMI. And for free! Most of the time this can cost a pretty penny. This allows you to be able to understand how to reach your goals and how much body fat you should lose in order to reach your goals. He also provides you with an entire nutrition guide and menu and instructions for day to day meals and calculates how many calories you should intake depending on what size you are. By boyfriend and I train together and he gives us both different instructions on how to reach our goals and will be with you every step of the way during your workout. He's very encouraging! He customizes a workout each day to fit your goals and has a beautiful indoor studio with machines, kickboxing, ellipticals, trx, dumbbells etc. The workouts go very fast with water breaks and the music of your choice. I'm staying with Sammy with my unlimited membership each month! The package is the way to go

Awesome workout partner, personal trainer, life coach -- all rolled into one exceptional and beautiful person! She is also offering the expert nutrition, general health and lifestyle advice to help me meet my personal fitness and longevity goals! Plus, Iina is qualified to do it -- after all, she only has a Ph.D. In anatomy, kinesiology, etc. She truly cares, is practically "on call" 24/7, and she always makes time for everyone she trains and/or cares about! Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.

How much does a nutritionist cost?

A nutritionist provides expertise and guidance to help clients with all diet-related health matters, including losing weight, gaining muscle, improving their sports performance, and managing diabetes or high cholesterol. Nutritionists can help people learn to follow special diets in a healthy way, such as becoming vegetarian or vegan or developing a low-sodium or gluten-free eating plan. The average national cost of a nutritionist is $60 to $100. Nutritionists often require an initial consultation with a new client, during which they’ll take a medical history, assess the client’s nutritional needs, and determine the best course of action; this first meeting usually averages $100-$120 for a 45-minute to 90-minute consultation. Subsequent nutritional counseling sessions generally cost less, ranging from an average of $45 for a half-hour session to $60-$90 for a one-hour session. Like many professional service providers, nutritionists may offer discounts through package pricing. For instance, a one-month package with two sessions and email support costs an average of $190; a three-month package with three sessions and email support costs an average of $360; and a six-month package with six sessions and email support costs an average of $540.

Are nutritionists covered by health insurance?

Nutrition counseling can be a critical component of good health care, especially for people recently diagnosed with diabetes or high cholesterol who need to adhere to a specific diet. People also meet with nutritionists for help developing a healthy vegetarian or vegan diet, developing an eating plan to lose weight or gain muscle, or improving their sports performance by changing their diet. Nutritionists may be covered by health insurance depending on your reason for meeting with them. Nutrition counseling is more likely to be covered if it is part of a doctor-prescribed treatment for a particular medical condition, such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or coronary heart disease. For example, Medicare covers medical nutrition therapy services only for people diagnosed with diabetes or kidney disease, as long as they get a referral from their doctor. Also, insurance providers more often cover nutrition visits if the patient has been referred to a registered dietitian within the carrier’s network of providers. Insurance plans vary greatly, so research your benefits before visiting a nutritionist.
