Mike had a great sense of humor and made everyone feel at ease, which is notable since we were navigating a personal ceremony in a tight space . He shot exactly what I wanted for the wedding ceremony and reception, worked well with the photographer, and sent me the footage in a timely fashion. It was a pleasure working with him!

I'm so glad I booked Jeremiah for my videographer and photobooth. The people sent to do both were awesome, and did a great job. They were easy to communicate with, and the final product came out great. Everyone LOVED the photobooth. I hadn't wanted to spend an outrageous amount on photobooth or on videography, and I was worried that I wouldn't get high quality for a lesser price. Jeremiah Sjoberg Videography was a great price AND a great experience. Thank you!

We had Steve create a series of videos geared toward different audiences, focuses and forums, and he worked out a plan to capture the necessary footage and arrange it accordingly. We are so pleased with the 6 videos he made for us, and would highly recommend him to anyone! Steve immediately got on board with the purpose of our video project, and his enthusiasm, commitment and capacity to communicate our ideas continues to benefit us as we show these videos to various audiences. Steve has the drive, professionalism, skill and necessary videography/editing tools to completely take care of your media needs. Also, a notable characteristic that Steve brings to the table is his charisma. Steve interviewed clients for us around sensitive topics and brilliantly elicited responses from them without awkwardness or offense. His ability to hammer out the details of what we were looking for was very comforting and helpful, as we struggled to narrow the focus and message of each video.

Darryn was amazing to work with, start to finish! Our initial Skype conversation with him was incredibly comfortable. Darryn truly knows what he is doing and is able to present that even through a computer conversation! We felt an immediate connection. His communication leading up to our wedding was tremendous. The day of, Darryn arrived early and was ready to record our ketubah signing which took place before the ceremony. We received our final product within 2 weeks as promised by Darryn in our contract. We just watched our wedding video this past weekend and it far exceeded our expectations! He captured moments that we did not even know he was present for! His quality of work matched exactly what he described to us during our initial meeting. Darryn has a wonderful personality and is a true professional. He is absolutely worth the investment.

Dante's energy, creativity and patience its exactly what we needed. The whole process was easy, from our first conversation to the delivery of the photographs. We opted to have a city hall wedding and wanted to make it special. Dante was able to capture a collection of special moments without us even being aware of it! Once outside of city hall, he thought outside of the box and got us on a Carousel that was in the vicinity! It was an incredible experience and it made our day extra special. Dante made us feel comfortable and made the whole thing fun. We enjoyed every second of it and will consider him for any other big event in our life.

I highly recommend Jim at JMN Productions. He provided video service for my wedding and my daughter's Bat Mitzvah. He is incredibly professional and almost stealth-like. He somehow manages to never miss a moment yet you hardly know he's there. Perfect! Our wedding video was professionally edited and just the right blend of capturing the highlights yet keeping it to a length even your neighbors would want to watch. The DVD packaging was also very nicely done. All of this and very reasonable prices. You won't regret hiring Jim.

We loved having Nola and her assistant do our wedding videography. We were hesitant about spending extra money on a video but feel so lucky and happy to have done it! Nola was very professional and listened to what we wanted. She gave us a shortened video to share with everyone as well as a long video to have forever. Her pricing was ideal considering we didn't want to overspend and she allowed us to do payments spread out which was super helpful. I highly recommend Nola!!

Paul was very nice, did a great job, and was willing to accommodate our wedding video needs on short notice. He got us an edited version of our full ceremony in less than two weeks that family and friends have enjoyed greatly. We have had some trouble getting in touch with him after he sent us the video link, but otherwise have had a wonderful experience working with Paul.

Ed was wonderful! My husband and I could not be happier with our choice for a videographer. He is dedicated to creating truly unique videos that capture the joy of your event. With Ed, you don't just get a wedding video - you get a full documentary of the event from start to finish. After our first meeting with him, it was clear to us that he has a passion for this. and as a result treats each client and their video with care and gives it his full attention. He went above and beyond capturing footage of our wedding - from the rehearsal, to us girls getting ready, and even an interview with my husband and I after all the events of the day finished. His prices are very competitive and he provides better video coverage than all of the other videographers that I interviewed. Ed is an absolute pleasure to work with and we simply cannot say enough good things about him. Please feel free to contact me with any questions on my experience with Videonamic. I am more than happy to be a reference. Carolyn August 16, 2017

Kenny was referred to us by a friend of a friend, and we decided to give him a shot since we were planning on a tight budget. While the price might have been "budget-status" what we got out of it certainly was not! The first day we met with him, he brought his wife along and we knew right away they were a good match for us. While Kenny is patient and more technical, his wife was more personal and knew how to put us at ease over many issues.  His package included everything from engagement photos, a canvas print, more than enough hours to cover a full-day Chinese/American wedding, a second photographer as well as a complete set of all the wedding day photos.   Our engagement session was more fun than we both thought it would be! Both of us hate being the center of attention, but Kenny was great and made it seem like we were just hanging out in the city. He also brought his wife again and she was a gem! She fixed my hair and flyaways for every single shot! Kenny had some very cute ideas of his own and he was also open to us bringing new ideas to the table. There was one picture in particular we weren't a fan of when it was being taken, however, was one of the favorites when showing our friends!   We both feel that Kenny went above and beyond what his package provided. He was always attentive to our needs, and we were never afraid of expressing what we wanted to him. On the wedding day, Kenny was with me first thing in the morning and his assistant Adrian was with the boys. I was very afraid that our families would get pushy with their smartphones and DSLRs (which they kind of were..) but Kenny and Adrian were super patient about that and never lost their cool. It was also a huge plus that Adrian speaks Cantonese! One of my favorite things about these two besides their patience was that you didn't really notice they were there. The previous family wedding we attended had pushy photographers who acted like the stars of the show. The only thing I wish we had done differently would be a private photo session with just the groom and I. I'm not sure why that part slipped our minds, but we were just so caught up in the excitement and focused more on group photos.   All-in-all, we are happy with Kenny's services and would recommend him to other couples who are trying to avoid paying a premium for other photo services. Thanks for everything, Kenny!

About

Amber the owner and main photographer/videographer founded Silver Pix Studios 10 years ago. She has worked professionally in Los Angles in the film industry working on Films, Commercials, Prime Time TV shows and has ample professional credits for photo, video and design for Top magazines internationally. Since returning to her roots here in Beantown, after being in Los Angles for over 5 years. She decided she wanted to focus on photography, film and design for her own studio. She wanted to be able to create a studio that was fun, creative and had some of the best artistic photographers around. Having a dual Fine Arts Degree from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston and Tufts University. She wanted to offer a fine art approach to wedding photography. Amber always had a talent for taking OMG, breathtaking images which had won her awards in the past but nothing compared to the photos she could take of weddings. The amount of emotional impact, the photojournalist approach combined with her Art Direction and magazine background has made for a exceptional combination of Art becoming Life. "A wedding is one of the most important days in your life and I want to be able to not only capture that moment but have you able to see your story unfold and live that moment again forever..." "After a wedding is said and done all you have left are the photos." When Amber comes to shoot your wedding or event she is always unobtrusive and is a caring watchful eye. She makes sure that she can capture your day fully and looks upon your day with your perspective not hers. This is one of the reasons why she can photograph the most unforgettable moments in your life. She is very well in tune with every one of her clients and offer Free Engagement Shoots with all her packages because she wants to have that personal relationship with you. This way you are famillair with how you are on camera as well as have a win being photographed by a professional. "There is no person who is un-photogenic. They have either had a bad experience or have not been photographed by someone who knows how to light or use a camera. I don't think there is anyone I can not photograph. I have a philosophy that I always look at the best qualities in people and you can see that in my photographs." When you get a package at Silver Pix Studios we will also be there to help you through the overwhelming process of having a wedding. We see it all (literally) and know the in's and out's of what to do and who to stay away from. If you have any questions feel free to ask us. Honesty is our best policy and this is one of the reason our clients LOVE us! We care about our photographs, maybe even too much at times. We normally over deliver more than was expected every time. If you would like to schedule an appointment to meet with Amber please call her or e-mail her. Good Luck with your wedding planning!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

  • Package 1: $1,400
    • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
    • Two cameras with audio equipment.
    • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
    • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
  • Package 2: $1,800
    • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.

I am looking for a simple depiction of my wedding day. I would like full footage of my ceremony including readings, etc., a glimpse at cocktail hour, all of the speeches (there will be 5-6) and dances with parents, first dance, etc. We are also doing a dance for all of the married couples, and I would like that filmed as well. There are a few songs I am picturing to use for the parts that are not full footage, such as us getting ready, for example. Looking forward to connecting with a Boston area videographer!
