Great experience! Scheduled the appointment very quickly (within the week and would of been sooner if my schedule allowed for it). Brought over a TV mount since I let him I know I didn't have one yet. Mounted the TV and my apple tv beautifully and made sure all the cords were neatly secured behind the TV. Couldn't be happier.

Matthew, of Federal Hill Home Theaters, did a phenomenal job with hanging my TV above the fireplace. Matthew was on-time, friendly, knowledgeable and finished the job very quickly. The TV looks amazing! He even cleaned up after finishing the job, which I personally was not expecting. He provided a great wall bracket that worked well with the fireplace set up and allowed the outlet and plug for the TV to be hidden once the TV was hung. I would highly recommend using Matthew and Federal Hill Home Theaters for your home theater needs and will definitely call on him again in the future.

Joe is awesome! He knew exactly what to do without hesitataion. Quoted me a great price. I called him a week later to come perform the work and he arrived the next day. He installed a Ring doorbell and it works great. He doesn't know it but he is now my go-to electrician for work to be completed.

We moved into a new apartment yesterday and asked that Ralf mount 2 floating shelves and our flat screen TV on the wall with a bracket. They managed to finish the work faster than expected, and was kind enough to put up 2 curtain rods for us as well. Great quality work and very friendly. I would definitely use him again.

Jason did a phenomenal job at about 1/3 the cost of other quotes I received. He installed electrical outlets above two wood burning fireplaces, mounted a 55 TV above one of them, including threading the A/V wires horizontally across the wall and across studs, and added a few other new outlets throughout the house. I had a bunch of home theatre companies come out and tell me how complicated my TV mounting job was going to be and gave me absurd timetables and quotes. Jason came by and completed all the jobs perfectly in 6 hours. Also, unlike other electricians that I’ve had, Jason didn’t make a mess and spackled all the holes in the wall. I highly recommend Jason and will definitely hire him again for my next job (recessed and exterior lighting).

Art was amazingly wonderful, his willingness to help in whatever we had going on, from helping us carry furniture up the stairs to hanging pictures, tv and anything else we through at him. He had such a welcoming, and comforting way about him that I would never use anyone else if I needed someone. I know I’m being selfish but I hope he never leaves the state of florida. ☺️

We hired Don to conceal the wires behind our already mounted TV. He was very punctual and professional and did a great job and even fixed the TV’s angle. We rehired him to add shelves to a small crawl space in one of our bedrooms and again he did a fabtastic job. We will be hiring him again for sure.

Customer service is important to me, so when this young man came to mount my TV on the wall; I was absolutely pleased with his diligence. He was patient, particular and passionate about his work. He initially could not find a stud but did not give up until he did. He took his time to measure precisely: hiding the cords. He even went to Home Depot to get a converter because my TV cord wouldn't plug into the outlet. I'd recommend his service without trepidation!

I needed someone to put an outlet/cable behind my wall so the TV wires were not visible. It was too complex for me to do because my TV is above a fireplace. He was thorough and installed a new outlet and outlet for the cable above the fireplace and behind my TV in short notice as well. No complaints would hire again!

My first time using smart guys I was very impressed. I have a bad knee so putting up a 50"inch tv on the wall is next to impossible for me to even try to attempt. First of all, they came on time. We're very polite. But most importantly what surprised me was how clean they were. Most companies just come and do their job and leave you with the clean up but not with this company. I'm definitely going to call again once my sound system is ready to install.

I wanted to get Samsung "the frame" tv mounted a dry wall that had 1inch gap to brick . Multiple electricians refused to take the job because they were unfamiliar with it. Zack was confident about the installation from the beginning and did a flawless job. He was quick and went an extra mile to make sure I was satisfied with everything . He also fixed and replaced multiple multiple switches around my house . After multiple bad experiences with electricians, his professionalism was a surprise . Moreover, he was a genuinely nice guy and s veteran so If you looking to get any electrical work done I would highly recommend him.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Who wall mounts TVs?

Electricians, handymen and TV installation specialists may all provide television mounting services. The person who does the mounting should be qualified and knowledgeable about basic construction concepts as well as working with audiovisual cables. In general, no specialized certificates are required to provide television mounting services, but as always do your diligence and make smart hiring decisions.

It’s important to find an experienced professional who will ensure the TV wall mount meets building code. Most regions have fire codes that don’t permit high-voltage power cords behind walls (low-voltage wires like HDMI and video cables are generally acceptable). A basic wall mount on drywall may take approximately one to two hours, while more complex mounts on brick or stone with hidden cables can take three or more hours. If you need more electrical outlets installed near your entertainment system, you may want to hire an electrician. Check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

What should you do with a broken LCD TV?

Nationally, the average price range for TV repair is $60-$90. LCD TV repairs are one of the most common TV repair requests. A liquid crystal display (LCD) TV uses the same technology as your smartphone and most computer screens. Images are created on an LCD screen by electric currents that pass or block light through liquid crystals that are encased between two polarized, glass-like sheets. LCD TVs can be very thin and are relatively affordable, making them one of the most prevalent types of TV on the market. If you have a broken LCD TV, it can probably be repaired. Common problems that can be repaired include a blank screen, sound issues, power problems and digital connection problems. Here is one example of LCD TV repair cost:

  • 55-inch Samsung LCD TV repair: $150, including parts and labor
    • The LCD was intermittently powering up and powering off. The main circuit board was removed and replaced.

Can you fix a flat screen TV?

Yes, you can usually fix a flat screen TV. Whether you have a plasma, LED, OLED, HDR, HD or even LCD, TV repair pros can repair your TV. Flat screen TVs are expensive, and when they stop working it can make your heart stop. But TV repair technicians have advanced along with TV technology and are equipped with the proper tools and training for major and minor repairs. If your flat screen is too massive to transport, most repair companies have pickup and drop-off service. For the most common problems, TV repair pricing might range between $175 and $200 on average. Here are examples of the most common problems:

  • Power problems: The TV won’t turn on or will not stay on once started.
  • Digital problems: All connections are in place but you’re not receiving any signal.
  • Sound problems: There is no sound, the volume doesn’t respond to attempts to raise or lower it, or the volume is inconsistent.
  • Screen problems: The TV is on but there is no picture.

How much does it cost to mount a TV?

Elevate your home style with television mounting services. The national average price for television mounting services ranges between $100 and $130. Factors that can affect cost are the material of the wall you want the TV mounted on, whether you want the wires hidden, and any additional entertainment system connection you desire. It probably costs more to mount a TV on brick, stone or concrete than on drywall or plaster due to the added labor required to drill holes. For example, a company may charge an additional $99 to mount a TV on a brick wall. Here are some examples of average costs for television mounting services:

  • Basic TV wall mount: $40. Does not include bracket, device connection or strip management.
  • TV wall mount: $119. Includes bracket, mounting services, strip management system (for concealing external wires), and connection of all entertainment devices.
  • TV wall mount with wires hidden inside wall: $139.
  • Installation of additional electrical outlet: $65.
  • TV wall mount over fireplace with wires hidden: $179-$249.
  • TV wall mount and up to 5 speakers wall-mounted with hidden wires: $399.

Can a TV be mounted above a fireplace?

You may be able to mount your flat screen TV above your fireplace for a more streamlined look in your living room. In fact, TV mounting professionals can hang your flat screen TV flush with a wall or from a tilting or full-motion bracket mount in any room in your home. A tilting or full-motion mount may be the best option above a fireplace so you can tilt the TV down for the best viewing angle. Whether the wall above your fireplace is brick, drywall, concrete, stone or plaster, most television mounting services can accommodate your needs. Hardier wall surfaces like concrete or brick will require more labor and expertise to mount, and will likely have a higher price range.

If you want your AV and cable wires hidden in the wall, you will also pay a higher price due to the added time and skill to properly drill the holes and run wires. Before mounting your TV above your fireplace, consult with the manufacturer about necessary distance from heat sources. If the space above your fireplace gets too warm, another location could be better for the longevity of your TV. Your television mounting services may take between one and two hours, or more depending on your home theater setup.
