  2. #2 Jessica Toracinta Voice/Piano Studio

    (19 reviews)

    Michael C.

I've been taking lessons with Jess for over a month now and it's been great. I've always wanted to sing but have never had the courage to really go for it. I appreciate that Jess respects my personal goals and tailors her instruction accordingly. As a teacher, it is important to offer your students encouragement and honest feedback and Jess is a natural at both. Jess wants so much for her students to reach their musical goals, but also to enjoy themselves along the way. Jess is always prepared for our sessions and always knows when to advance and when to take more time on a concept. This is a tremendous help to me because it allows me to really trust her when she says "Hey, you're doing really well - let's do something more challenging...." I always leave class feeling like we accomplished something - which to me is important. I highly recommend Jessica to anyone wishing either to begin their musical journey or to improve and grow in the skills they already have.

I took several piano/composition lessons and also a recording session (violin) with Peter. Peter is very experienced with piano teaching and also very knowledgeable with various genres that I was interested in. He introduced me to the basic theories (chord progressions, rhythms, and etc) of jazz and samba and also helped with a composition that I was working on. I also recorded some violin segments in his studio, which turned out very well.

    Lisa F.

I could not have asked for a better voice teacher. Eliyahu put his heart into his teaching. He would always come up with new, fun exercises to get my voice to do what he wanted it to (like magic!), and I also felt so comfortable with him, and never EVER was worried to take risks with my voice in front of him. I also have stage fright and he helped me work on this greatly. He was able to give me wonderful advice on acting and showed my that there is so much more to singing than just hitting the right notes. Eliyahu is a wonderful person and teacher and I highly, highly recommend him! Best voice teacher EVER!

    Music Elements

    (23 reviews)

My oldest daughter has been with Music Elements for a year and a half and she loves it! She takes voice lessons with Laura; only after a few lessons her voice quality and range improved quite noticeably. Since then my daughter has had many performances, solos and leads in shows. Anita, the owner, is so welcoming and accommodates us with lessons to work around our busy schedules if needed. She answers her e-mails right away and is always pleasant! My second oldest started taking piano with Dan and is thriving with progress every week. The waiting room offers crayons for my younger ones - and coffee/water for adults (which is so nice after a long day). The staff is friendly and the students leave happy! I'm so glad that Anita found me on here and we are thankful to work with such a talented, successful school right here in our home town! Boston and New York quality teaching in Chelmsford, Ma.

  • Speech Level Singing Instructor

    Balliro Vocal Studio

    (2 reviews)

Get professional private voice lessons for singers and speakers of all ages. I'm a graduate of New England Conservatory, spent several years singing and performing in Europe and I'm certified by Seth Riggs in Speech Level Singing. SLS is a ten year certification process with annual evaluations and educational requirements. This approach to voice training has been used by hundreds of grammy winners, broadway professionals and opera singers for over 60 years. I have a proven track record with professionals, children, and hobby singers. I teach pop, rock, musical theater, and classical. The majority of students who study SLS improve their range, flexibility and power much more quickly than traditional lessons that are based on imagery and subjectivity, rather than practical tools that you can objectively learn and immediately apply to your singing. You'll earn to sing with a strong mix, so you can have range and power without vocal fatigue, for rock, pop, musical theater, and classical/opera. Lessons are in person and via Skype. You'll receive a digital recording of each lesson and a video recording of SKYPE lessons so you can effectively practice on your own. I have many successful students who prepare for college entrance exams, concerts, auditions, and recordings. I'm currently Associate Professor of Voice at Berklee College of Music in Boston. "Linda, the lesson you gave me, was truly ground breaking. Due to the fact that I've listened to it literally hundreds of times, (on the CD recording of the lesson), I think I've come a long way. Can we set up another?" Dave, singer, songwriter

  • Voice Teacher & Speaking Coach

    Noune Karapetian, Voice Teacher

    (2 reviews)

I am a voice teacher with 20 years of experience singing and teaching. I have sung leading roles with Granite State Opera, Opera Boston, and others. I have been finalist in major vocal competitions like the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. I had vocal problems and overcame them. Through the suffering and trying to find answers, I learned a lot about the voice. I have a good ear and can diagnose problems with your voice by just hearing you. I give you specific solutions to overcome tight feeling in your throat or hoarseness after singing or speaking for a long time or cracking. I teach any style to any level, for ages 7 and up. My students love that I have very clear explanations and make everything simple to understand. They tell me that I make the lessons fun and bring back the joy of singing. The coordination for singing comes with practice, but you need to know how to do it. Singing doesn't have to be complicated. I teach you how to breathe, how to support you voice, how to project your voice, and how to sing high notes with ease. I have MA in Vocal Studies from Komitas National Conservatory. I had further studies at Boston Conservatory with Penelope Bitzas and with Metropolitan Opera singer Maria Spacagna.

  • Superior Voice Lessons

    Synergy Voice Studios

    (1 reviews)

Synergy Voice Studios offers voice lessons aimed to develop in you the strongest and most versatile technique possible. Throughout your vocal study, you will explore the limitless possibilities through which you can express your unique voice: technique building, applying these skills to YOUR choice of music, and the option of exploring more than one style. Here is some information about the studio and myself, the instructor... My performance background is unique and versatile. Since my undergraduate work (B.M., The Hartt School), I've taken every opportunity to perform, teach, and direct music of multiple genres, both as a soloist and an ensemble member. The result is my experience and understanding of music and the vocal mechanism from various stylistic perspectives. I teach new singers to explore their choice of the following: 1. Soulful styles (r&b, jazz, blues, funk) 2. Bel Canto (classical) singing 3. Ensemble singing (choral, babershop, a cappella) 4. Modern pop and rock singing 5. Vocal Improvisation and male range extension Unlike most studio teachers, whose primary love is performing, my musical identity is built on teaching and giving the gift of musical performance to others. I believe that we all have at least some urge to make music with our voices. It is my work to help you develop the tools you need to tap into that inner musicality and use your voice without limitation. The art of pedagogy is incredibly important to me. After all, what good are a teacher's skills if he cannot transfer them effectively? So should you study here? Well, SVS is for: -Singers with little or no vocal training seeking to establish fundamental technique. -Singers seeking to discover their own voice through exploration of multiple styles. -Male singers seeking to access and strengthen the head voice. -Anyone seeking to expand the "tools" with which to express music through the voice. *SVS also offers lessons/tutoring in musicianship, ear training, music theory, and guitar. Inquire within. **SVS offers an initial lesson/evaluation at no charge to the student. Call or email to schedule!

The topics of discussions cover the following areas: * Music Analysis * Counterpoint in Composition * Tonal Harmony and Voice Leading * Keyboard Harmony, Along with its Baroque-Based Figured Bass Techniques * Choral Analysis and Harmonization * Post-Tonal Analysis, etc. Through the initial discussion, usually, we touch the areas that cause a problem for the student at the time being, and then accurately build an appropriate plan for the lessons. The goal for our meetings would be to broaden the student's understanding of the problematic subjects of study.

  • Jazz Ensemble Coaching

    Morningside Music Studio

In 2007, multi-instrumentalist Dan Fox founded the Morningside Music Studio in Arlington's Morningside neighborhood. His vision was to have a laid back and supportive environment he and his wife, Jennifer Elowsky-Fox could teach private lessons and jazz ensembles. It has proved a good idea as groups and lesson times have started to fill with musicians of all levels eager to play and improve. Morningside offers weekly ongoing jazz ensembles. You can join one anytime and continue as long as you like. Work on improvisation techniques as well as building a repertoire of tunes. Topics include playing modal jazz, blues, standards, scales for improvisation, how to build a solo, phrasing, pacing, dynamics, and a lot more. Instruments accepted are piano, bass, guitar, drums, vocalists, and horn players. Players should either have some knowledge of harmony or be somewhat new to jazz but have some proficiency on their instruments. The idea will be to group people together who are at similar levels. Steinway grand piano, amps, and drums are available. Each group will be limited to four players. Morningside groups play concerts every few months. Previous venues include The Lily Pad, Ryles Jazz Club, The Chit Chat Lounge, Somerville Cable Access TV, and various coffeehouses. Fee is $25/class. No obligation to continue after first class if you choose not to. All groups are taught by Dan Fox. Schedule: Please contact us for the current schedule of evening and weekend daytime groups. Combos at all levels from beginning to advance are currently being offered. "The Morningside Music student ensemble is the ideal introduction into (or exploration of) the jazz world for the beginner/intermediate level player. In the short time since I've started, not only have I built substantially on my repertoire, but learned useful concepts for soloing and accompaniment. Under competent direction (and with a little hard work) you'll be amazed how you grow as a musician in leaps and bounds- two thumbs up!" Ethan Kaczowka - guitarist, 23 yrs. old

General instruction, I'm not sure yet

I'm a complete beginner and have very little confidence in my voice as I don't think I have a good singing voice at all. HOWEVER, someone has suggested I explore lessons and I am really curious about the functionalities and limitations of the voice and getting to know my own instrument better. So I'm willing to take a risk!
