Mike had a great sense of humor and made everyone feel at ease, which is notable since we were navigating a personal ceremony in a tight space . He shot exactly what I wanted for the wedding ceremony and reception, worked well with the photographer, and sent me the footage in a timely fashion. It was a pleasure working with him!

Pablo and his staff worked great together for perfect coordination. For our June 2016 wedding we had picked Pablo well ahead of time for his creativity and great personality. He is always reachable and gets back to you in a timely manner, they listen to the needs of the client and delivered, pictures were given with great presentation at the time promised, and Pablo kept us calm in times of stress during crunch time. We met with Pablo to begin with, his staff that shot our wedding were willing to keep in touch and meet if needed as well. On the very few shots the business stamp was on, it is discreet and elegant. Pick Essence Photography, and you won't regret it! They are fun, creative, and easy to communicate with to make the photography experience what you need it to be. Thanks Pablo!!

We had Steve create a series of videos geared toward different audiences, focuses and forums, and he worked out a plan to capture the necessary footage and arrange it accordingly. We are so pleased with the 6 videos he made for us, and would highly recommend him to anyone! Steve immediately got on board with the purpose of our video project, and his enthusiasm, commitment and capacity to communicate our ideas continues to benefit us as we show these videos to various audiences. Steve has the drive, professionalism, skill and necessary videography/editing tools to completely take care of your media needs. Also, a notable characteristic that Steve brings to the table is his charisma. Steve interviewed clients for us around sensitive topics and brilliantly elicited responses from them without awkwardness or offense. His ability to hammer out the details of what we were looking for was very comforting and helpful, as we struggled to narrow the focus and message of each video.

I'm so glad I booked Jeremiah for my videographer and photobooth. The people sent to do both were awesome, and did a great job. They were easy to communicate with, and the final product came out great. Everyone LOVED the photobooth. I hadn't wanted to spend an outrageous amount on photobooth or on videography, and I was worried that I wouldn't get high quality for a lesser price. Jeremiah Sjoberg Videography was a great price AND a great experience. Thank you!

I have hired SCM for numerous videography and photography projects over the last four years. I greatly appreciate Timothy’s eye for detail and his extra effort to get the right shot. His interview subjects and clients find his personality and professionalism to be very calming and reassuring. His custom animation and musical composition skills further enhance his offerings and help set him apart from other vendors. His customers get a high-quality, polished product at a very competitive price. He is a true pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend him to other companies looking to tell complex stories through engaging video and photographs.

We loved having Nola and her assistant do our wedding videography. We were hesitant about spending extra money on a video but feel so lucky and happy to have done it! Nola was very professional and listened to what we wanted. She gave us a shortened video to share with everyone as well as a long video to have forever. Her pricing was ideal considering we didn't want to overspend and she allowed us to do payments spread out which was super helpful. I highly recommend Nola!!

I've had several experiences with TNT Photography and Video and all of them fantastic. Rich Sorensen's videography is outstanding. He has done several jobs in the sport of equestrian show jumping, from slow motion demo to a fantastic split screen of two different rides on the same course. The result has always been high quality, good color and clarity without wind noise. Rich maintains a high standard of quality and service, a true professional.

Larry Eudene has a real keen eye for unique candid shots as well as posed pictures. He did a complete tableau of our 50th Wedding Anniversary and we were delighted with the results. Way beyond our expectations. And pictures were delivered quite soon after the event compared to what other people we know experienced. Larry aims to please and has the talent to do so. We would not hesitate to recommend Larry to friends or family members. If you are looking for a 1st Class photographer, contact Larry Eudene. Steve and Norma G.

Deidre did an incredible job capturing so many special moments from our wedding day. Truly was amazing to get to re-live the day (when it’s so easy to miss so much with everything that is going on ). Deidre made sure to not be in the way, but also to be there for all the important things. Our wedding video came out even more incredible than I could of dreamed up. Highly recommend! Very professional & has an amazing talent with capturing and putting her works of art together! Thank you ‘Simply Memories’ for such a beautiful video to forever have to look back on .

I found Zakk in the nick of time to do the video for our wedding. His videos are exceptionally beautiful, and I knew I struck gold. He was clear, communicative, and really tried to understand the vibe of our wedding and what we were looking for, even on a tight timeline. Zakk arrived promptly at the venue on the day (which was some distance away) and was unobtrusive to the bridal party and the bride/groom while getting the footage he needed. I cannot wait to see his video- as I know it will be just as amazing as the rest of his work! I would definitely recommend Zakk!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

    • Package 1: $1,400
      • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
      • Two cameras with audio equipment.
      • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
      • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
    • Package 2: $1,800
      • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
