It was an absolute pleasure to work with Karim, Babble Films. We got high-quality content right on time as promised. To be honest, we had given them a very tight deadline for the project and they nailed it, not only was the project delivered on time, but the quality of work was amazing. I look forward to working with Babble films in all my future projects mainly because of his work ethic and his amazing skills as a cinematographer and an extremely talented editor. I should admit being a video producer myself, I was impressed with the level of attention he pays to micro level details in the videos. Even after production, Karim was patient in taking up last minute requests, changes and worked relentlessly in delivering an amazing video that exceeded our expectations. They were very professional in conduct right from pre-production to final delivery and made sure we were satisfied with the results. I would recommend Babble films to anyone looking for professional and premium quality content at a competitive price. Having had a great experience with Babble films, and the extra mile they go to make their customers happy, I look forward to working more projects with them in the future.

I was completely on the fence on having a videographer at all for my wedding so decided to go with a less expensive option. I heard about Creative Eye Productions from a friend who was also planning her wedding that met them at an event at her venue. She said they seemed like great people and had a very reasonable price. I researched them and watched some the videos they had and was satisfied. I am not that techy and didn't care about having Blue Ray/HD or a long video. What I ended up with was a 45 minute video which included my entire ceremony, all the speeches and multiple clips throughout the day; and also an 8 minute shorter version - which is great to show family and friends. I think I spent about $900 which included an extra $100 for travel to where I was, and we were SO happy with the results. We got a great deal and a GREAT video which we love so much. Mike was our videographer and he's great and doesn't ever get in the way, you barely know he's there. I also delt a lot with Shannon who is so nice. They are a smaller company and really care. We have referred Creative Eye Productions to two other couples who had really nice weddings and just didn't want to spend thousands on videography. They were both thrilled as well. Definitely go with this company!

When it came time for our wedding, my then fiancé and I were always on the fence about having a video made, not because we didn't want one but because with all the expenses we didn't think we could afford one. Just one month before our wedding day of 6/10/16 I made an executive decision and went to Thumbtack in search of a videographer for our big day. Here I had a few options but ultimately settled on Magic Moments and I couldn't be happier with that decision! Brian from Magic Moments was phenomenal from start to finish including the planning up to our big day and the videos he took and provided us. Brian / Magic Moments were professional, punctual and provided fantastic, quality footage of our wedding day which included both a 5 minute highlight film and 4 hour unedited film both shot it wonderful HD and given to us on Blu-Ray DVDs! Thanks to Magic Moments we have a wonderful, quality video which we can enjoy for years to come! I would absolutely recommend Magic Moments for any videography needs you may have!

C-Squared was truly amazing to work with at both my last company and now at my current, I have used Rick specifically to run full video production for our yearly All Star Awards. This is our most special event of the year that involves many hours of video and editing laudatory for each winner. Rick is professional, knows his stuff and a true partner throughout the entire process. The outcome was seamless, beautiful HD video with impeccable quality and sound.

Ryan converted our VHS home video tapes to DVDs. The VHS tapes were very old and started to degrade. Ryan transferred all the tapes, edited them, added music and put them in chronological order. She did such an outstanding job that we asked her to convert our parents' 8mm home movies and slides to DVDs as well. Everyone was quite pleased with the end products. We now have visual memories that will last!

Bill was tasked with making a mini documentary of our family. I had no idea just how moving the final result would be! Bill was able to capture the event in a way that I didn't realize was possible. Under a less skilled hand, this could have easily been a professional version of a home video. However, through the use of raw footage, music, interviews and meaningful "background" footage Bill edited a final movie that delivered all of my expectations, and much much more. I could not recommend Bill any higher.

Spencer helped film and create a video for my event called Hurricane Challenge which was a service event for kids with disabilities. He was there early and stayed late, making sure he captured every wonderful moment. He was very professional, had all his own equipment and had the video finished in a very timely manner. He even took suggestions before finishing the final cut. He is a great videographer and editor!

I've been working with Donna Marie at ThelmaWorld for over 10 years now. She was also my "editor of choice" for 10 years before that at a high-end production house in Boston. To me it's the value added that Donna Marie brings to every project. It seems that ever good idea I come up with gets transformed by Donna Marie into a great idea. She has the eye of an great artist --- and better yet, knows how to transform the great vision info stunning video production. Her editing skills are a given to me at this point, so, quite often it comes down to something else --- she's such a even tempered, happy and delightful person (and always has been), why would I go anywhere else? As a two-time Emmy Award winner I have nothing but great things to say about the "Donna Marie Experience". I highly recommend her and the entire ThelmaWorld staff. Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

      • Package 1: $1,400
        • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
        • Two cameras with audio equipment.
        • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
        • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
      • Package 2: $1,800
        • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
