MassGarage

What a pleasant surprise to find a business that shows up on time, is extremely courteous, and committed to getting the job done efficiently and quickly! The same day they came to give an estimate, once the approval was given to do the work, within 50 minutes, MassGarage had my garage door was repaired and working again! It's refreshing, and rare, I might add, to find a business that respects your home when they come to work in it and doesn't just take for granted that they can take your old parts with them when they leave without your permission. This is definitely the company will will use in the future and recommend to others as well. THANK YOU MASSGARAGE!

dependable garage and home service

Eli has 2 techs - Ever and Justin - come out and complete the work. They called ahead of time to confirm the time that they would be home to give me a quote. They showed up, and in addition to the quote they were prepared to do the work right then. Garage door springs were replaced efficiently and professionally in about 45 minutes and the tracks and pulleys checked. Would recommend the team to anyone looking for Garage door repair services.

First Choice Overhead Door LLC

My experience with First Choice Overhead Doors was fantastic. I received a few quotes from different garage door companies. He was the most reasonably priced, return my call immediately. His company showed up on time and very professional. He will be my go-to garage door company in the future, and I will recommend him to any family and friends in need of garage door repairs or maintenance.

Assembly Concept

Hugo was the first to respond to my call for help in assembling a (to my mind) complicated entertainment center. He arrived exactly on time and proceeded to work. He is polite and helpful and estimated that the job would take about an hour and a half. It did. He checked every door, every drawer and every door and made minor adjustments as needed. He opened and closed everything ensuring that they operated smoothly, which they did. He then proceeded to set up the TV and other attachments. He even adjusted a washer/dryer which had been delivered the previous day and with which he had nothing to do. This was an all round great experience and very reasonably priced. I would recommend Handy Hugo to anyone.

I hired Stephen last summer to install a screen door on the front door of the house. The door was not designed to have a screen door, so he had to design a frame build out to accommodate the screen door and handle the stress of the door opening and closing. He did a great design, made the build out look like part of the original door frame, and installed the door. Terrific job and a great person to work with. I'm already building out my list of other jobs I need done on the house and will definitely be calling Stephen to get them done.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Who repairs garage doors?

Garage door repair is a specialized job, which is typically handled by a garage door repair service. Professional garage door repair technicians can test or repair a garage door system and fix cosmetic blemishes on doors. Common requests include help with jammed or inoperable doors, slow or erratic doors, unusual sounds, dents or scrapes on the door, and general system testing. Garage door repair professionals can work on single-car, double-car and RV-size garage doors.

How much does garage door repair cost?

When a garage door goes off the track, the spring breaks, the door is dented or the garage door opener is on the fritz, a professional garage door repair specialist can help. The cost to have a garage door fixed varies, but the national average cost of garage door repair is $70-$110. The extent of the damage and the size and material of the door will affect the final cost. A garage door repair company generally charges a national average of $80 for a service call, which includes the first hour of labor and service, such as testing and inspecting the garage door and opener. Apart from labor, the garage door repair costs hinge on buying replacements parts. For example, a new spring costs an average of $60. Expect to pay several hundred dollars, though, if the door is beyond repair; a new garage door ranges in price from $200 to $4,000, and most homeowners spend an average of $800-$1,200.

How do you choose a garage door?

When garage door repair isn’t an option — perhaps the current door is beyond fixing or you want to upgrade to a quieter, more energy-efficient model — it’s time to buy a new one. But choosing a garage door is not as simple as it sounds, even when you know the right size for your home. A wide range of materials, styles and finishes are available, and each factor influences the cost. Garage doors are made of aluminum, steel, vinyl, fiberglass, masonite, wood (typically cedar or mahogany), or a composite of several materials. They may be insulated against cold or heat. Traditional and modern styles include raised panel, carriage house or crossbuck. Most styles have window or arch options, and are available in different wood finishes and neutral colors. Because garage doors account for a large part of a home’s exterior, their appearance is usually a homeowner’s top priority. An attractive garage door can increase a home’s curb appeal and resale value.
