WORKING WITH BRANDON HAS BEEN MY BEST PERSONAL TRAINING EXPERIENCE: HE'S FRIENDLY, ACCOMMODATING, INNOVATIVE, AND MOTIVATING. I'VE HAD TRAINERS AT MULTIPLE GYMS AND LARGELY BECAME DISENFRANCHISED BY THE PROCESS BECAUSE EVERYBODY SEEMED TO USE ONE OF TWO MODELS: WORK ME UNTIL I DIE, OR COPY P90X. I CAN, AND HAVE, DONE BOTH ON MY OWN. THIS WAS NOT MY EXPERIENCE WITH BRANDON. FIRST OFF, HE ACTUALLY LISTENED WHEN I EXPLAINED TO HIM MY GOALS AND DESIRE TO DO DIFFERENT TYPES OF EXERCISES. FROM DAY 1 WE USED A COMBINATION OF WEIGHTS, RESISTANCE BANDS (WHICH I'VE NEVER DONE WITH ANOTHER TRAINER), PLYOMETRICS, COMBINATIONS, AND EVEN BOXING (YES, I SAID BOXING - ANOTHER FIRST). EVERY WEEK I COULD TELL HE PREPARED THE WORKOUTS SPECIFICALLY TO HIT CERTAIN MUSCLE GROUPS, IN A CERTAIN ORDER, AND IN DIFFERENT WAYS. HE WAS ALWAYS PREPARED AND NEVER JUST WINGING IT AS WE WENT ALONG. HE EVEN INITIATED A SATURDAY SESSION TO MIX UP OUR ROUTINE WITH SOME CITY RUNNING AND INTERSPERSED EXERCISES - IT WAS A GREAT IDEA FOR DOING SOMETHING DIFFERENT AND STILL GETTING A GREAT WORKOUT. BRANDON ALSO MET ME AT MY HOME AND WAS EARLY FOR EACH SESSION. WE USED THE FULL AMOUNT OF TIME FOR TRAINING, NOT CUTTING IT SHORT TO RUN OFF TO ANOTHER CLIENT ON THE TOP-OF-THE-HOUR. I FELT LIKE MY TRAINING TIME WAS MINE AND BRANDON WAS 100% THERE. I HAD TO CHANGE OUR SCHEDULED MEETING TIME AND EVEN RESCHEDULE SEVERAL SESSIONS AFTER THAT, BUT BRANDON WAS VERY FLEXIBLE AND KIND ABOUT IT. I HAD EVEN INJURED MY KNEE (HELPING SOMEONE MOVE) AND BRANDON STAYED IN TOUCH BY OFFERING ME TIPS ON HOW TO CARE FOR IT AS WELL AS SIMPLY CHECKING IN TO SEE HOW I WAS DOING. BOTTOM LINE IS THAT BRANDON IS DEDICATED AND YOU CAN SEE THIS EASILY IN HOW HE TREATS YOU, YOUR TIME TOGETHER, AND YOUR WORKOUT.
I'm not one to write reviews, but because I'm passionate about working out, fitness and nutrition, I feel I should let others out there know what a great place Activate is for all of the above. I have been a member since it's inception and truly believe that it is different than any other facility or big box gym I've ever been a member of. At Activate you are not just another number or member but a person with individual needs. You are heard and encouraged to succeed whether it be from the staff (who are phenomenal by the way) or from other members who are also there to succeed. As a person who has struggled with my weight from my teens into adulthood, it has always been super-depressing to go from fitness center to fitness center and not achieve success. Even if I did achieve success, it was barely measurable, not to mention that I never learned anything about what is necessary to get results - appropriate nutrition and the kind of workouts needed for targeting fat loss. Like so many others, I was on the treadmill and elliptical wasting my time. Activate is the only place I have ever found true success with real, lasting weight loss and nutrition. The staff genuinely cares and encourages you to dig deep to get to the goals you set upon yourself. You will not only learn the best and most efficient way to lose weight, you learn what it takes to keep it off. It is not a fad or a "diet plan" center with pre-packaged breakfast, lunch and dinners, or pills to swallow to suppress your appetite and journals to count your points in. Activate is a fitness center that cultivates living a healthy way of life. It's a place with real people who truly understand because they too have had through their own struggles. It is not a spa where you won't break a sweat and it's not boot camp where someone will break you. Activate is a place where you will get results at the pace you dictate for you. I am a walking testament that it works.
Life Changing! Where to start? I started working out with Janet after I had my first child at 36. I was overweight and out of shape, and not feeling good about myself. I started on my own, walking, taking classes at the gym (and had previously worked-out with other trainers). While I lost a few pounds and my conditioning improved - I stalled completely and was no where close to where I wanted/needed to be. I started working out with Janet twice a week, followed her cardio and meal plans on my own, and lost 25 pounds (went from a size 12 to 4 in about 9 months total, but the majority of the body transformation I saw with her within 3 months - follow her eating philosophy!). Even better - I got pregnant with my second child at 38 (almost 39) and continued with Janet through my 1st and 2nd trimesters, followed her eating philosophy (it is a lifestyle change) and only gained 22 pounds, all of it lost by 3 weeks post-partum. I'm 3 months post-partum, just started back, and I'm now 5 pounds below my pre-pregnancy weight. I feel great and haven't looked this good since my 20's - I'll be 40 next month. It feels wonderful to be in great shape for myself, and my children (two little boys in your 40's require a lot of energy) and even more wonderful to have people comment that they can't believe I just had a baby. The thing I love about Janet is she really believes her philosophy (that eating right and working out is a lifestyle - not all trainers I've worked with are passionate like this). It's inspiring, also - being "middle-aged" and knowing that you can be in great shape and look great is inspiring (Janet also had her youngest child at 39 - so it's believable that you can be in the best shape of your life regardless of age - just look at her for some inspiration!). I had such a healthy pregnancy working with her before, during, and now after - she has improved the quality of my life. She will not disappoint! I know this probably sounds like she's paying me to write this because I can't say enough good things, but she has truly been inspiring and life-changing for me!
Denise is an incredible trainer! I met her just over a month ago. I came to her having not exercised for many years as most of my time was spent sitting at a desk. Within a month, she's got me stronger and already feeling better in my clothes. She uses a mix of cardio and strength training that focuses on the entire body and which will ultimately ensure better endurance. She plans a new work out plan for me every time we meet - 3 times a week - that is always different from the last and always tailored to my needs. Her support during the work out is verbal and is also physical when needed. She'll jump right in to help you finish sets when necessary. You can't possibly find a better trainer!
I am really enjoying my self defense training/workouts with Travis. He keeps me motivated and is really challenging me to work those muscles I didn't know existed so I can get more tone and have better balance for my regular workouts and cardio. Each week I look forward to my sessions with Travis, and after each session I wake up feeling the burn and knowing I got a good workout in with him.
I have trained with Tim on and off for the past 5 years. He has helped me to reach the various goals I set for myself over the years . . . from increasing fitness level, losing weight, shaping my body and overcoming and preventing injury. He has always been professional, supportive and very motivating. I met Tim shortly after having my son and my goal was to return to pre-baby shape and fitness level. Tim helped me to meet the pre-baby shape goal and exceeded the fitness level goal I had set. The workouts were always challenging and motivating. Tim and I usually met twice a week for 30 minutes of high intensity interval training (I would warm up and cool down on my own). At this point my cardio endurance was low and he really helped me to increase it. After meeting my goal I was able to maintain our progress on my own at the gym using the knowledge I gained from my sessions with Tim. Two years later, I realized I was slipping on my own (I love to eat and drink red wine!) and contacted Tim to regain the shape and fitness level we had previously established. Tim assessed my fitness level and created workouts that met my needs. Tim is great at identifying areas of weakness and tailoring exercises to strengthen those areas. Our workouts were typically 30 minutes, twice a week. This time, Tim began incorporating a lot more weight training. After several months of working with Tim, I once again exceeded my goals and I was stronger and more fit than I had ever been. I was able to go back to working out on my own, using the workouts and information I had gained from him, and maintain my fitness level. I frequently have people commenting about the exercises I am doing in the gym . . . they are impressed and want to use them! When I returned to Body Pump, the instructor also commented on how my strength had increased! Just last year I contacted Tim again. After several injuries (not from working out) and ongoing treatment and physical therapy, I was very frustrated with my body. Tim listened, in detail, as I explained my injuries and the problems/pain I was having trying to workout on my own and participate in classes at the gym. Based on what he heard and saw me doing he created workouts that helped to correct improper techniques I was using (due to injury) and strengthen muscles to help prevent further injury. After working with a physical therapist 3 times a week for many months, I did not see any improvement. After working with Tim 2-3 times a week for just a few weeks, I saw huge improvement! Currently, Tim has once again helped me to reach my highest fitness level yet.
CJ was very helpful .. I told her my long term goal and we discuss how I could get there . We did some cardio and strengthen exercises that was very helpful . CJ always asked me do I have any questions And helped me with different food choices .CJ is a excellent trainer !
Josh is awesome! If you are looking for someone to push you he will. I've trained with a lot of fitness trainers in the past and couldn't find the right one until I met Josh. I've been training with him for almost a year now. Other trainers are afraid to push their clients because they are too afraid to overwork them. Listen, if you want results you need to be pushed. Josh is safe with the workouts and knows your limitations and will not injure you. The best way to describe him is almost like one of my old drill sergeants. He won't let you quit. My goal was to loose weight and get in better shape. I've gotten in a lot better shape and my weight loss has maintained...I can mostly blame myself for my limited weight loss goals on my lack of discipline on food....but I'm OK with that. I'm still seeing results. Overall Josh is awesome!
I've known Chris for several years but it wasn't until this spring that I solicited his expertise in Personal Training to get me back in shape. At 37, size 14, with three children under the age of 10, it's safe to say I let my figure and my nutrition fall on the priority list. My 9 year old asked me to run in a 5k with her in May, and after I agreed to do so, I realized I was nowhere near prepared. That's where Chris comes in. I spoke to Chris about my need to get in physical shape for this race and we had long discussions about what has worked for me in the past. Chris designed a workout plan that I would adopt on March 30th and would take me through to where I am today. The mix of strength training, interval cardio and better eating habits, has made a significant impact on my life. Most days my workout lasted about 30-40 minutes Not only did I run that 5k, in three short months, I lost 20 pounds and went down to a size 10 jeans and size medium on top. The results are just amazing. I have so much more energy and I even sleep better! I'll be the first to tell you that it was hard in the beginning, but like anything else that you do repeatedly, it WILL become a habit. So much so that you will look for new ways to stay fit. The only catch is this - you must do the work - and let Chris keep you accountable to it. Chris continues to challenge me with new workouts, and I even take Pilates twice a week at work now, voluntarily! The one area I could do better is my nutrition, but honestly, if I can achieve these results and still enjoy my favorites on the weekends I can keep this up (my current calorie intake M-F is around 1600, and I don't count or worry on the weekends). I'm so thrilled with Chris and his level of professionalism in helping me achieve my goals I can't describe it well enough. At the family 4th of July barbecue, the words "fantastic" and "amazing" were used to describe me and just last week at work someone actually used the phrase "skinny minny" when I walked into their office. More importantly, my confidence level is back up where it belongs. Thanks, Chris, keep it coming!
KJ has really pushed me mentally and physically to look and feel healthy, a goal that I've always wanted to achieve but never was interested in any other types of training. His workouts are never boring and with the results I've made, he definitely knows his training. Summit fitness is the best decision I've ever made for myself.
Sanjay is amazing. I've been working out with him since January 2014 (over 10 months) in bootcamp. I've never stuck with a bootcamp or group exercise because it became too routine. Not with Sanjay! He keeps us on our toes, constantly switching up the exercises in strength training, cardio, plyometrics, all in diverse settings and a positive attitude! He pushes us where he knows we can go always surprising ourselves. He is an excellent trainer and I've seen results in my waist, thighs, and arms. I've never had a semblance of a flat stomach... And I'm almost there! Thank you Sanjay
