I have used Alvin Smithson's services for over five years as a piano tuner, teacher and performer. I am always impressed with his skills, artistry and professionalism. Alvin first came to tune my 100-years old Steinway after it had been neglected for a number of years. He first examined the instrument, diagnosed what needed to be done and then proceeded with his expert tuning. Immediately after he was done and started playing, I was amazed at how good the piano sounded. Alvin explained that with a piano that hasn't been tuned or played in so many years, it will take some time to achieve its best form and sound for which it was built. A short time after, my wife started taking piano lessons from Alvin and as she started gaining proficiency in playing under his guidance, the piano itself gained a rich pleasing sound. Alvin paid close attention and adjusted notes or did a full tuning whenever needed. He also took the time to clean the strings and do minor technical adjustments. When a string needed to be replaced, Alvin recommended a technician from a highly reputable company. Overall, we owe it to his expertise to have the wonderful old piano do what it was built for by the Steinway masters. I should also mention that I heard some great musicians at venues where Alvin is the regular piano tuner. People who visit our house and hear our piano, or play it themselves, always compliment its sound. But the best comes when Alvin himself sits at the keyboard, whether at our house, at a social function or performing in the theater, it's such a joy to hear him play some great classical pieces as well as his own wonderful compositions. He is truly a very talented, sensitive and highly knowledgeable artist. And such a pleasant person, too. My wife and I feel fortunate to have Alvin give us the best piano sound to enjoy live music in our home. I would recommend him to anyone as piano tuner, teacher and overall musician.

Brett is very knowledgeable about the guitar as well as music in general. He explains in understandable terms and analogies, and makes it fun. While he is just starting out in his new studio, he is very organized. And for one on one lessons he charges a reasonable fee.

Yulia, is an amazing teacher and voice coach. She can quickly identify and pin point the issues while singing and does not allow me to drift to form bad habits. She is methodical and commands a great technique which she shares with me. She tries different approaches to fix how I am singing and make me improve. Caitlin Budny has been my voice teacher for the past 2 years. With her expert guidance and professional experience I grew and continue to grow not only as a singer but as a performer. She challenges students to explore not only the nuances of the music, but also the depth of the character they are portraying. She genuinely loves to teach and that comes across in her total investment in her students' budding careers. Any singer would be privileged to work with Caitlin.

Mr. Walls is an enthusiastic and patient teacher. As a choir member at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton for the past fifteen years, I have been able to sing liturgical music, and participate with other choirs in singing more complex pieces of music, such as requiems and compositions for rites of the church and special occasions. Our choir has sung in various languages, and joined other choirs in ecumenical choir fests. Mr. Walls has studied music composition, conducting, and history, and is an accomplished musician on several instruments, including the piano, organ, and guitar. He has several years teaching experience in the U.S. and abroad. I would say Mr. Walls' expertise and talent are second to none.

Initially I was looking for a teacher to help my child with voice lessons. The teacher was able to evaluate my child's strengths and areas that could be improved upon. When we decided to transition to piano, my child's teacher has been knowledgeable, likable and invested in helping my child develop their skills. She communicates how my child is progressing and suggests homework to help reinforce what is taught. In addition, the owner is very professional and makes himself available to clients with any question and/or concern in person or via e-mail. The facility is kept clean and is equipped to handle several kinds of instruments. If you are looking for quality teachers and responsible ownership, this Music Space is an excellent choice.

I took voice lessons from Diane and specifically wanted to specialize in jazz. I learned techniques from her that no one had ever taught me that have helped me be a better vocalist with more projection and power. Diane is amazing at what age does and she knows what she's doing! I'm grateful for my time with her when she and I were in Los Angeles!

My teenage daughter has had several lessons with Orla and we have found her to be professional, kind and extremely knowledgeable about mechanics of the voice as instrument. She brings her enthusiasm and warmth to each lesson and my daughter very much enjoys working with her. In the few lessons that they've had so far, we have seen improvement in both voice technique and comfort of performance.

Annie was one of the kindest teachers I've ever worked with, giving me constructive criticism in a positive way instead of trying to "scare" me into doing it better or differently. She was always open to working on new repertoire and gave me some good suggestions from her own life experience. She knew my voice type and what I was and wasn't capable of, and always pushed me beyond what I thought was even possible for me. She made sure to warm me up appropriately every time. She was also very flexible when I would get sick or things would come up, and always made sure that we got all of our make up lessons in. I would continue to work with her if I hadn't moved to another state!

In the months that Judy was my voice teacher, she helped me progress further in my vocal range and techniques than any previous teacher had done in years of working together. She's attentive, flexible, and works at exactly the right pace for you in that you're making progress without hurting your vocal chords or seeming rushed in any way. She's also one of the sweetest and most caring people I've ever worked with. 10/10, highly reccomend.

The vocal technique that I learned from Dorothy Miller completely transformed my voice and my career as a singer. Dorothy’s teaching focuses on the implications of classical, consistent technique within all different styles of music. Voice lessons with Dorothy combine this teaching of safe, anchored singing while exploring the exciting world of performance and audition repertoire. For me, I started working with Dorothy at the age of 12. I had been singing my whole life, but my throat was constantly sore and I had no access to higher ranges. In my 6 years of study with her, I was able to expand my range and vocal versatility, lay down a firm technique and develop a passion for new types of music. Dorothy works to develop an authentic, individual relationship with each student, and over the years I can genuinely say she has become like a second mother to me. She additionally helped me to navigate and prepare for the college audition process, and I completely credit her in my acceptance to the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University!
