I don't think I can truly and fully express how blessed Ryan and I were to have had Eleven Courses as our caterer for our wedding day. From the moment we had our tasting, to the finalizing of details, to the actual wedding day, Ryan and I were in great hands. There was NEVER a doubt in our minds that Eleven Courses would let us down. I feel like I could write an entire essay on how amazing Melissa Benson and the rest of the Eleven Courses crew carried themselves throughout this wedding planning process, without mentioning how amazing the food was...because I could totally write an entire essay on that too. To keep things short though, Melissa was just great with following up and answering all of our questions. Catering to our vegetarian guests was a breeze, and making changes to the contract was effortless. Melissa, I am so sad Ryan and I never got the honor of meeting you in person, but if I could, I would give you a HUGE hug right now for everything you did for us. Chrissy was our day of coordinator, which i was personally ecstatic about because she hosted our food tasting, and I absolutely loved working with her. Chrissy, if you are reading this, I am so sad that i did NOT get a chance to hug you that day, because you were just awesome about listening to our needs, and really making sure that Ryan and I got a chance to eat. Not only that, but Ryan and I came back to the venue and found that the room was absolutely spotless. Thank you SO much for taking care of the cleanup. Now on to the food: I can only say one word: incredible. EVERYONE in the wedding commented on how crazy amazing the food was. We barely had any leftovers!! [Which, I was very sad about haha]. Chef Jim, it was such an honor to have met you....your dishes were excellent. And my goodness, can I just also add how incredibly humble Chef Jim is? This is actually turning into an essay, so to sum it all up, Eleven Courses, I am thoroughly impressed with how great you guys were on our special day. It was such a pleasure working with Eleven Courses. As the wedding planner, I hired them based upon my client's taste to be our premier caterer for a tented wedding reception at Glenview Mansion on April 11, 2015. Eleven Courses not only worked with me throughout the whole process, (i.e. tasting, contract, and walkthrough at the venue) they were always very responsive to my questions. In all honesty, their blend of professionalism and friendliness immediately made me feel like I was part of their team. The day of the event, Eleven Courses went above and beyond to ensure that everything was perfectly executed. They arrived on time, helped to set up the table linens, plates, glasses, etc. contracted out by the tent company. The presentation of the food was immaculate. The food not only looked great, it was delicious. As well, the food was more than enough to accommodate the guest count. The guests raved all night about the cocktail hour hors d'oeuvres in the mansion, and the main entrees served during the reception. Clean up was also perfectly executed by Eleven Courses. Their staff of servers were excellent and very helpful, and our tandem coordination made things seamless. I am so excited to work with Eleven Courses again, and cannot wait to recommend them to my future clients. They will for sure be one of my premiere catering vendors! Eleven Courses catered my wedding on 10/24/15, and Melissa Benson and the entire Eleven Courses staff was fantastic from the very beginning of our wedding planning through to the big day. Our guests raved about how delicious the food was, and Eleven Courses did a fabulous job accomodating our vegan guests as well. Melissa was our day-of coordinator, and our wedding was seamless and beautifully organized under her supervision. She and her team also went above and beyond as my family dealt with an unexpected and very serious medical emergency just weeks before the wedding -- the staff of Eleven Courses could not have been more patient, generous and compassionate. I can't recommend them highly enough; they do amazing work, and they're wonderful people.

Angie of Honey Do Wedding and Event Planners was one of the best decisions we made throughout our wedding planning process. She was affordable (especially for a student and military wedding) but always made us feel like her number one clients. Not only was she a great value, but she went over and above what we were expecting. We hired her to be our day of coordinator, but we met with her on a regular basis and she always responded to all calls, texts, and emails. Angie is incredibly personable, knowledgeable, and has connections with various other wedding vendors. As a same sex couple, she never treated us any differently than an opposite-sex couple, and she actually was great at recognizing the subtle differences that come with having two brides. At our first meeting at a potential venue, Angie came prepared with examples of her work and binder with all of our info. She even printed out new forms that said bride and bride instead of bride and groom. These small but significant touches are what make Angie stand out among other wedding planners. She helped us negotiate with vendors to get better prices and confirmed all vendors the week of, lifting a lot of the stress off of our shoulders. We can't speak highly enough of Angie and the Honey Do family!

After I decided to plan a 70th birthday party for my father, I knew I wanted something different other than just a few guests at home. After speaking with the owner of ALD, April, about what I was looking for and what my budget was, she immediately started helping me brainstorm options for locations and vendors to take care of everything from cupcake orders to banners. She even went to visit the restaurant, see the room, and speak to the restaurant event planner before I could make it over to the location. April is super organized and has timelines and deadlines for each step in planning the event and she always returned my calls and emails in a timely manner. When the day of the event arrived she had all of the materials as discussed and decorated the dining room with a beautiful black and gold theme. She provided everything from chair covers and table linens to balloons. Everything went as planned and she stayed around to make sure everything was on track. I'm so glad that I worked with ALD! They created a memorable and unforgettable event.

I loved everything about working with Dianna of Catering reserved! From start to finish she delivered everything she promised, including delicious food! She was prompt, creative, and thorough in her proposal; she worked with me to refine my needs and I was very comfortable with my final decisions; Her pricing was affordable and fair and most importantly she promised there would really be enough food to feed everyone and there was! She promised it would be delivered on time (it was), that her staff would set it all up nicely without my help (he did!) and that it would be hot and delicious (and it was!). Nothing was forgotten; nothing was omitted. The serving utensils were there, the sterno, and the clear containers were perfect for serving the food in. I didn't need china serving dishes for my event, but Dianna does offer that and if my next event needs Catering Reserved's full service, I won't hesitate to use it. (Food plus waitstaff for setup and clean up.) I've never met Dianna in person, and I never tasted her food prior to hiring her for my very important event, but from our first conversation I just knew I could trust her, and I was right. I highly recommended her! Thanks to Catering Reserved, I got to visit with my guests and totally enjoy my "after-the-wedding" party.

By some divine intervention, my husband and I stumbled upon Denean's Party By Design at a time when we were having a number of problems with our venue. Denean and her team were truly God-sends! Denean is thorough, detail-oriented, understanding, and so kind. She was so pleasant to deal with throughout the process. My husband and I had an inter-faith (Jewish and Catholic wedding) - Denean took the time to learn all the traditions and customs to make sure everyone's customs were honored. Denean also went above and beyond to ensure that our venue accommodated an entirely gluten free wedding. Any request that I made - no matter how obscure or small - Denean exceeded. On the day of the wedding, Denean and her team kept everyone on track, calm, and organized. Denean set up the venue beautifully, taking care of every last detail down to the placecards and photo arrangements. Additionally, she made sure we had zero issues with the food. Mary really helped make our wedding day go off without a hitch! She was so incredibly supportive of all of our ideas when we first started talking, and checked in a lot along the way. Mary absolutely loves this type of work and stayed in constant communication with us about personal items that she owns that she could bring and use at the wedding free of charge. I had the distinct pleasure of working with the incomparable Michele Palmer (and her dynamic team) for my recent wedding in October 2016. I hired Michele and her team to help with month-of wedding coordination. Initially, I thought I only needed someone to help set up the venue on the day of the wedding and handle week-of phone calls with the other vendors to make sure that everyone was on board and had the correct details. However, as this was my first time planning a wedding, and despite my tendency to be an extremely organized person, there were so many little things that Michele and her team took care of that I hadn’t even expected or anticipated and that helped my wedding go off without a hitch. I would ABSOLUTELY hire Michele and her team again, for any event I host, and merrily pay whatever price to secure her services. In chronological order, and among other kudos for things that I am sure happened behind the scenes and of which I am unaware, I can credit Michele and her team with: -Coordinating the walkthrough at the venue with the caterer, myself, and her team (which happened more than a month prior to the wedding) -Working with the unusually inflexible venue to book a real band, get the band in for training, and arrange for the band to be there with ample time to set up and take down their equipment -Working with the venue to design a floor plan and timeline that the venue was able to understand (despite their perpetually baffled reactions to things from cabaret-style seating to the timing of cocktail hour) -Arranging two rendezvous with myself and my husband (prior to and after the wedding) to meet halfway and transfer LOTS of wedding “stuff” from one vehicle to another. (NEW BRIDES: this is SUPER IMPORTANT because it allowed all of our wedding guests and ourselves to leave the venue at the end of the evening without having to wait around for any handmade decorations, gifts, etc. to be collected and transported into someone’s car. It was the #1 thing that made us feel like we could celebrate on the day rather than be the hosts.) -Chunking last-minute detail information for me, such as deciding on linens, and communicating that information to the caterer (including number of each type of linen for each specific type of table in the venue) -Making useful suggestions that enhanced the wedding experience for the guests (pintuck linens instead of plain, three lanterns on the tables rather than one so they wouldn’t get lost) -Exchanging seemingly hundreds of text messages to answer my last-minute questions and attend to last-minute requests for things such as changing out an escort card when one of the guests broke up with his date two days before the wedding -Arranging for 29 sets of fairy lights for our lanterns, checking the batteries for each one, and stuffing them into the lanterns (saving me from a seriously tedious task) -Being prepared to handle any number of high-maintenance relatives, including knowing their names and where they would be seated -Handling guests that showed up to the venue 75 minutes early (!!!) when the venue was not ready to receive them -Checking in with myself and my husband multiple times throughout the evening to make sure we were OK and had everything we needed (food, drink, a moment to collect ourselves) -Working hand-in-glove with the caterer to accommodate our unusual ceremony (of unknown duration) -Helping me to bustle my dress quickly and efficiently with little direction (CRUCIAL when you don’t have someone at your final fitting and simply need someone to bustle the dress who has bustling experience) -Tearing it up on the drums as a guest drummer for the live band for a song or two -Checking in after the wedding to arrange any and all wrapping-up details PS: Michele can totally hook you up with lanterns and make your tables look SUPER romantic! Michele and Laura are absolutely amazing and I highly suggestion them for any type of event! They were such a delight I now consider them friends. I hired them as day of planner for my wedding about 30 days before the wedding date and they jumped right in and help me with all details and logistics for the day so I didn't have to think about anything. They worked with all of the vendors I hired to coordinate and schedule out the day of the wedding as well as the details needed before the day. They also came to every meeting with me that I had at the hotel(reception site) from the day I hired them to the day before the wedding. They were there to protect me and my ideas and vision for my wedding day. Every email I sent with questions was answered within hours if not sooner. And trust me, I sent a lot of emails :-) My wedding was amazing and I owe it to them for it being possible. They were able to source signs and décor I wanted last min,the day before the wedding!!There were some hiccups that happened the "Day of" but I didn't even know about them because Michele and Laura from hotel to the church helped smooth it all out and knew what I wanted and were able to make decisions for me. They really do it all, the hotel coordinator left before my desserts were plated, so Michele and Laura were in the kitchen plating desserts for the buffet. And the last song of the night Michele, the multi-talented lady that she is, played the drums with our band!! Honestly, their professionalism, coordinating skills and genuine care and passion for their events make these two the BEST!

I had the privilege of participating in my best friend's wedding, organized by Ms. Johnson. It was very well organized, elegant, and overall very enjoyable. I've dealt with wedding planners who make things more stressful and more complicated than needed but Ms. Johnson was very friendly with a simple and direct approach. She made everything as smooth as possible and quite honestly made it all look effortless, even though it was abundantly clear that she put in a monumental effort for this event. Just had a great event yesterday, planned by Lisa McGillin of ELG Event Productions - a Celebration of Life for my recently deceased husband could not have been more perfect from any perspective. Another planner had left me hanging with no arrangements, 2 weeks before the event date, but Lisa rode to the rescue. Good deals arranged for full service catering, equipment and furnishings, flower arrangements, momentoes for the guests, terrific bar service - and it was all put together like magic despite the short planing window during this already busy party season of graduations, weddings, etc. Lisa made it special in a hundred ways. I have made a new friend in Lisa at a time when friends mean so much. My husband would have loved every minute of this special celebration!

Jessica can accommodate the most detail oriented bride down to those who are clueless or simply overwhelmed and preoccupied! With her help, we handpicked our ceremony line by line and my husband even surprised me by writing his own vowels. Jessica is warm and sweet, but gets down to business. She left no stone unturned or question left unanswered. I've been to weddings and cringed as the bride didn't know when to hand off the bouquet; the parents didn't know when to kiss or the audience stood because there was no direction to be seated. We hired them to help coordinate the wedding and ended up asking them for help with the party favors and other things that we just couldn't get done on our own. When my now wife and I set out to plan our wedding, we were one of those couples who thought hiring a planner was unnecessary. We had roughly 6 months to pull it off. We fancy ourselves as reasonably intelligent and financially responsible people and we thought that was plenty of time. Fast forward 4 months. The stress began to mount and panic had set in. Our budget is dwindling. We broke down and decided to hire a day-of coordinator. Better late than never, but who do we call? Every one we spoke to was either way too expensive or not the right fit personality wise. Thanks to Thumbtack, we found Vanessa. We are incredibly happy we did and we couldn't have pulled off our awesome wedding without her. Here's just a few of the reasons why: 1) Attitude - She has the PERFECT demeanor for event planning. She kept us on track, but was never pushy. Very personable and easy to talk to. Every time we spoke to her we felt both at ease and motivated to check more off of our list. 2) Creativity - Simply put she has great ideas. Whether it was decor, logistics, floor planning, etc., she listened to our inputs (which weren't always in lockstep - welcome to married life) but put here own spin on things. Our wedding was weeks ago and we still are getting comments on how beautiful everything was. 3) Contacts - Vanessa made great recommendations for vendors, and didn't do so based on any kickbacks or financial gain to herself. In fact, we had one vendor who was somewhat flaky that we had already booked. She was able to line up a "just in case" vendor for us. 4) Organization - Nothing fell through the cracks and she thought of small details we didn't have the capacity to (because we were too busy being crazy pants). 5) Value - She is worth every penny and I would argue she is a bargain for the service she provides. This is especially in comparison to other planners out there. If you need help planning an event, not just a wedding, we highly suggest you reach out to Vanessa @ Little Black Book. Hiring Vanessa Young at Little Black Book Events is one of the best decisions we made. Vanessa is fantastic. At our first meeting, she opened our eyes to lots of details we had not considered and picked right up with coordinating our vendors after signing on. After another meeting, a phone call and tons of emails -- we were all set. Vanessa handled all the details on the big day and put us completely at ease.
