About

My daughter Kamiylah Peoples has received excellent vocal lessons from Brandon Smith for one year. Since that time, I've noticed a significant improvement in her vocal range. The singing techniques provided has equipped her with the necessary skills to take her singing career to another level. After 6 months of training, Kamiylah received several singing opportunities including opening up for Jazz Artist Boney James. Most recently, due to the thorough training she became a member of Detroit's next tween stars. Brandon Smith's ability to strengthen the skills of an artist is excellent!

About

My daughter had private voice lessons with Trish from the age of 8 till 18 till she entered college. Trish is one of the main reasons my daughter decided to major in Voice Performance and Education in college. Trish introduced and prepared my daughter in classical music training at a very early age which helped develop her love for classical music. She was taught by Trish to sing Italian, German, Latin, Spanish and French vocal music and to achieve very high scores on her High School Solo Ensemble events. She was also so well prepared that she was accepted at all 5 University's Vocal Music programs that she applied for. This could not have been done without having private music lessons. Trish also recommended my daughter be seen by an ENT Dr. during her younger years when Trish recognized that my daughter had some vocal quality and health issues due to earlier vocal abuse. Vocal cord nodes were diagnosed and my daughter needed to receive outside vocal therapy. Had she not had this checked out at the early onset of symptoms she could have had permanent vocal cord damage. Trish, as a professional instructor, was able to recognize this and her singing lessons were adjusted to minimize further damage until the situation was corrected. I would highly recommend Trish as an instructor. She is very professional and loves to encourage her students and watch them develop into beautiful singers. She also makes lessons fun by introducing all genres of music; Pop, Classical, Jazz and Opera. She is punctual and loves to see her students perform in public. I do recommend one hour lessons versus half hour. The first half is used for warm ups, breathing techniques and and reviewing past music, where the second half is concentrated on selected music being studied. My daughter would definitely not be where she is today as a recent College Double Music Major graduate if it hadn't been for the lessons that she had weekly with Trish. I highly recommend choosing Trish for a vocal music instructor.

About

I offer piano and voice lessons for students of all ages, abilities, and learning styles. Individual lessons are $25 for 30 minutes; small group lessons are for 45 minutes. The rate for group lessons is $45 for two students or $60 for three. I have been teaching for 16 years, with students ranging in ages from 3 to 73. I have a Bachelor of Vocal Music Education degree and extensive PK-12 music classroom experience. In addition, I have directed church choirs for 13 years and currently coach a high school choir and community chorus. Six years ago I was searching for a way to better connect with today's tech savvy children. That's when I found an amazing product called "Soft Mozart." It is the best interactive piano learning software available. Students learn to play on a keyboard connected to a laptop. Everyone who tries it is amazed at how easy it is to learn. With traditional methods, students need to have developed fine motor, reading, and cognitive skills before they start piano lessons. This method eliminates those barriers. With colorful and engaging theory, ear training and piano "games", children as young as 3 can learn to play familiar tunes, often within one lesson. I am located in Clawson, just minutes from Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Southfield, Huntington Woods, Berkley, Oak Park, Royal Oak, Ferndale, Madison Heights, Warren and Troy.

About

Thank you for inquiring about me and my music studio. I have been teaching full time in Michigan since 1992. Because I love children (and adults!) and music, teaching music is perfect for me! I have a B.S. in music, specializing in vocal performance and piano proficiency. I offer lessons for voice, piano, and all of the woodwind instruments. I offer opportunities for students to share their talents in music with other students, family, and friends on special occasions during the year. Each spring, students are given the opportunity to be measured against a standard of excellence, during which students are excited to show how they are progressing. Being able to share this wonderful gift of music makes me feel truly blessed. I have attached a copy of my studio brochure for your review. You can also visit my website to learn more about me and my students. I teach 48 weeks a year and divide the total evenly over 12 months, so that you and I can budget a regular amount. For piano, I bill $80 monthly, and for voice, it's $90 monthly. Each is for weekly 30-minute lessons. Payment is due on or before the first of each month via cash or check payable to "Kristi Balding." You will see that my studio is run professionally. For me, teaching is not just a small hobby that I do on the side; it is my passion. It is my life, and I love it! I strive to share the pure enjoyment of music with my students, and I motivate them to share their musical gift at every level of their development. At my classes, my students learn well and perform with excellence, while having fun at the same time! I hope to hear from you soon! Blessed with music, Kristi Balding
