  • Guitar Teacher - Scott

    (9 reviews)

I provide guitar lessons for all ages (7 and up), all levels (beginner to advanced), and all styles (from blues to heavy metal). I have hundreds of satisfied students! Pricing and information are found below. (You can also reach me through my Facebook page for faster responses). Most guitarists spend several years falling over themselves on their guitar until eventually something clicks and they finally break the learning barrier that keeps them from seeing the logic of the guitar's fret-board. Still more never break this barrier altogether. This is primarily due to the lack of good teaching. At any skill level, all guitarist' know there is no limit when it comes to improving their playing ability. With both education an over 30 years playing experience, 20 years of teaching experience, I use college based core curriculum publications as the basis for all my lessons, and then teach my students how to apply them to their everyday playing. With this kind of teaching, the student can be assured they are getting detailed, insightful, thorough lessons that will progress them from a beginner to an advanced playing ability in the shortest amount of time possible, without sacrificing the integrity of the lessons. If you want cutting edge teaching for any of today's styles of music, that is more informative and less expensive than any store (I know, I've taught at most of them!), then contact me and I'll get you on the road to higher learning! A couple questions before contacting me: Do you (or student) play guitar now? If so, what is your (student) level? (beginner, intermediate, advanced) What style do you (student) want to learn? (contemporary, finger-style, blues, rock, metal) Electric or acoustic? Do you (student) want to learn other people's songs? Do you (student) want to learn how to write songs? Are you (student) looking to play in a band? Lesson pricing:....$10 once a week Location:... 54th street and 131 in the Wyoming / Grand Rapids area Any style:... contemporary to blues to metal, Clapton to Dave Matthews to Steve Vai.... I provide EXTRA time when needed...in the name of music!! I am a very patient and compassionate music teacher. I make a great effort to assist students in fully understanding the concepts used in music...and in applying them to MAKE music!! I regularly hold showcases for my students to demonstrate the skills they have learned...all pupils share any donations from the event--thus, for most, it is their first paying gig!! I love the fact that I can sing and play music during performances which make people smile and dance. It is a great feeling! During lessons, it is equally satisfying to witness the development of young (and not-so-young!) musicians. When "breakthrough moments" occur, it is a shared joy between the student and myself.

  • Chris Bota, Guitar Instructor

    (5 reviews)

I play guitar professionally in the local rock band, Desmond Jones and teach music on the side. I have been teaching students for over 2 years and specialize in jazz music theory, blues, rock and roll, folk, bluegrass, and pop music. I study music constantly while I am not playing live or teaching and greatly enjoy inspiring others to ignite the musical spark that music lovers all have. I focus on not only teaching students how to play the instrument, but also teaching them how to learn on their own and help guide their musical desires and help them find their own personal musical path.

I teach highly personalized drum/percussion, bass and guitar lessons out of my home studio. I have a B.A. in Music from Trevecca Nazarene University, with a concentration in drums and percussion. I have over 15 years of musical performance experience in Nashville, TN and the Greater Michigan area. To me, it is absolutely crucial to create an open, accepting and fun environment for teaching lessons. I personalize every lesson to the learning style and personality of the student. Having taken lessons for 10 years myself, I've learned that investing in a fun and positive environment is imperative in helping motivate the students to accomplish their goals! Playing music has formed a vital role in my life. From my early days in school where it helped form my social circles, to teaching me how to be disciplined to accomplish my goals. Becoming a musician has changed my life and I love that I get to help others incorporate music into their lives as well!
