We needed new carpet in our living/dining room and we couldn't be happier with how things turned out. The carpet is like a cloud and we love walking in that room barefoot now because of how soft and plush it is! They installed the carpet very quickly and everything looks GREAT!! We would not hesitate to call this company for all our flooring needs in the future!

We hired Zamir to install some engineered hardwood flooring in an office. He was very responsive when communicating. He and his team were respectful of the home and did a great job installing the flooring. They worked very quickly and left a clean space when they left. I would hire him again and would recommend him to others.

We are very happy with the work that Bert did with our kitchen remodel project and would consider him again for future projects. Overall our kitchen remodel consisted of removal of old cabinetry, flooring, and demo of a closet. He was timely and cleaned up before he left for the day. He installed new cabinetry, tile flooring and a glass backsplash it all looks great!

TL;DR - Beautiful work quality, good value, but a little unprofessional Positives: Starting off, I'd like to say that Brian did a phenomenal job with the carpet installation. It included 3 large rooms each with closets and a hallway, and he did a beautiful job all by himself in 2.5 days. He arrived at our house exactly when he said he would each day and worked long hours to make sure he got the job done in our short time frame. His work quality is excellent and is a good value as well. While I couldn't say better things about the work, I do feel it is important to give a thorough and honest review including both positives and negatives. Some of the comments below aren't extreme "negatives" per se, just little things to mention for the purpose of other people reading reviews. To preface this, there was a little issue that occurred right at the beginning that is worth explaining: my father-in-law (who sells carpet for a living) delivered the carpet to us all already cut to size, and carried it up the stairs to place the pieces in the appropriate rooms. He was trying to be helpful and didn't know that Brian had plans to take up the pieces one by one as he installed them. Brian was unhappy about this because he said that the carpet rolls would be in his way since they were already all upstairs. This was understandable, obviously nobody wants someone interfering with their work. Not sure if this had an impact on the course of his work or not, but I just wanted to include it for completeness. Negatives: In my opinion as someone also in the customer service business, Brian was a little lacking in professionalism. During the installation we could hear him saying/yelling profanities and other exclamations of frustration as he was working. As adults, it wasn't really bothersome because we can understand how frustration and hard work sometimes gets the best of us, but this would have been very inappropriate in a household with children. The same occurred when he first saw that all of the carpet was already upstairs, to which he openly said "Pain in my ass." Yes, it was intrusive to his work, but this was not a professional response to the situation at all. Additionally, his clean-up wasn't very good; in moving the doors around to install the carpet he left several very obvious dirty hand prints that we had to go around and wipe off. He also left extra pieces of tack strip with the tacks facing up in a bathroom, and my husband ended up stepping on one (he left the tack strips on purpose because the bathroom has to be finished at a later date, but it would have been better if they were left somewhere more out of the way or if he would have warned us that they were on the floor). Other comments (neither negative or positive): For some reason Brian didn't have his work truck with him that day and wasn't able to take away the huge bags of trash at the end. He offered to come back and get them the next day though. Also, his response to messages while planning the job was pretty slow (maybe a day between texts). Not a huge deal to me though because people have lives. Last, he did leave some scratches and marks on our newly painted walls; I think this is to be expected during carpet installation though.

Danny has done several projects for us, including pouring a concrete slab for a shed and installing a fence and gates. He has also done interior projects for us, like installing a ceiling-hung pot rack. Danny is super cooperative and willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done right. We are very happy the with the results!

Minor flooding in our basement essentially ruined our carpet pad. Since the carpet was old, too, decided to replace it along with the pad. Had 2 couches, a pool table, an entertainment center in that room. The Carpet Guys showed up on time, moved EVERYTHING, and put down the new carpet over 700 sq ft including stairs in about 3 hours. Professional job and hire Jose and Jose again.

When I arrived at the showroom, I was kindly greeted by Hannah. I spent about and hour and a half looking over carpet and Hannah was kind to offer bottled water while I stressed over carpet selections for an aging mother. Due to time constraints the carpet needed to be installed right away. I picked out in stock samples (which Hannah pointed out to me) in the showroom on Saturday, Ayman brought the samples to the house on Monday, and what my wife and I picked was installed on Tuesday. The timing was wonderful (the installers even showed up over an hour early)! There were moments with the installers that made me nervous (language barrier, and I'm not sure how well they understood English). There were some installation procedures I questioned (like entry plates in the entry way to rooms as opposed to tack strips, and the use of double sided adhesive as opposed to entry plates). I had wanted double sided adhesive for the entry ways that the installers did not have, or something other than tack strips to the entry ways so that there would be no chance of the tack strip nails pricking feet. The installers helped me to choose the appropriate plates and I was not charged extra for them. It would be good for the salesman to offer these options while a customer is selecting the carpet. The installers asked for my opinion a couple times during the installation, and once again when the installation was finished. The carpet looks like it was stretched correctly, and we're happy with the results!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to carpet a bedroom?

If you’re building a new home, remodeling, or ready for new carpet in your bedroom, you’ll want to know carpet installation costs. Here are the factors that affect the cost of your new bedroom carpet:

    • Installation cost per square yard: From under $2 to over $6. Carpet companies have a labor cost per square foot for installing your new carpet. Depending on where you live in the country, that rate can vary greatly. This rate does not include the cost of the carpet.
    • Type of carpet: from $1 per square foot to $20 or more per square foot. The fibers that make up your carpet will have a direct effect on cost. As an example, specialty wool carpets may start at about $10 per square foot, while a manufactured fiber like nylon may be about $2 per square foot.
    • Removal of old carpet: from $1 to $4 per square yard. Old carpet is labor-intensive to remove and also costs money to dispose of or recycle. The cost to remove carpet will depend on how much carpet you need removed and whether your installation pros offer a discounted rate for installing your new carpet at the same time.
    • Subfloor repair: from $40 to $70 per hour (plus materials cost). If the flooring underneath your old carpet is damaged, it must be repaired before the new carpet is installed. Many carpet pros can offer this service, or you can hire a handyman to handle the job.
    • Type of carpet pad: $1 per square yard and up, depending on the thickness. The cost to install carpet pad is typically included with the labor cost per yard of installing the carpet itself.

How much is the cheapest carpet?

If you’re looking to reduce carpet installation costs, there are several ways to save. Start by considering your carpeting needs. Manufactured materials such as polyester and nylon will be cheaper than natural fibers such as wool. From big box retailers, starting prices for olefin-based carpet are approximately 50 cents per square foot — making the cost under $5 per square yard. Indoor carpets made with olefin fibers are typically the least expensive on the market. Keep in mind that olefin fibers are not as soft on bare feet as other fibers, so are often used in areas like basements, playrooms or indoor patios. Nylon and polyester are good options to reduce carpet installation costs while still creating a cozy feel. The face weight, fiber construction and density of a carpet all affect the cost per square foot. The cheapest nylon or polyester carpets can start at just under $2 per square foot, making them about $18 per square yard. Lower-cost carpet tends to wear out more quickly and show stains more easily, so avoid light colors and vacuum regularly to keep the fibers clear of dirt that might age it too quickly.

How much does it cost to install carpet?

If you’re ready to bring new life into your house with a makeover from the ground up, you’re ready to learn more about carpet installation costs. Installation costs vary greatly, depending on a number of factors such as the type of carpet, the number of square yards, any necessary repair work, the number of stairs you have, and where you live. Due to these variables, the national average cost of carpet installation ranges between $200 and $4,500.

To start planning for your new carpet, measure roughly how many square yards of carpet you’ll need. Research the main carpet styles and materials you like to get a feel for what they cost. Nylon carpets are typically the least expensive, and wool is one of the higher-end carpets. Prices per square foot might range from under $2 to over $10, depending on materials. Count the number of stairs you want carpeted; each one might average between $3 and $10 (or more for box steps). Carpet removal can be an added cost as well, averaging $1-$4 per square yard, depending on the company and regional disposal costs.

How much does it cost to install carpet on stairs?

The number of stairs you want carpeted in your home will directly affect your carpet installation cost. Putting carpet on stairs generally increases the labor time and requires a higher degree of detail than laying carpet flat. Where you live in the country also plays a role in your carpet installation cost. Carpet installation companies in smaller towns with a lower cost of living and a lower cost to do business (insurance, company vehicles, employee labor, etc.) can usually offer their customers lower rates than companies in large cities where the cost of living and the cost to do business are higher. Carpet pros will often quote you a flat rate per stair once they do a site visit to provide an estimate. They’ll take into account the size of each stair you want carpeted (including both the step and the riser), and what type of stair it is. For example, the cost might range between $3 and $10 per stair for labor only. On the higher end of the spectrum, box stairs or staircase stairs with spindles that must be worked around might cost between $15 and $25 per stair.
