Working alongside Anna Grimm in providing Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, I’ve been made aware of what a gifted therapist she is. She’s smart and thoughtful; she listens well and gets clients to hear themselves; she’s engaging and 100% present; she’s kind and humane; she’s funny. And her compassion and her empathy cannot be missed. Anna meets you where you are in your life; she exemplifies caring and the desire to help you move forward and work through the issues and struggles that life has given you. And her photographer’s eye becomes the one that brings insight to the therapist/client relationship. If you’re looking for a therapist, Anna will not disappoint you.

Tahmi has been a counselor to me for the last 6 months. I've been really grateful for the sessions we've had and the ones to come. Tahmi allows me to feel comfortable enough to speak freely and really work through things.

Adam is insightful, empathetic, and obviously knowledgeable in his field. I've always felt comfortable discussing difficult topics -- I believe he genuinely wants to help me understand some issues I'm dealing with. I'd recommend giving him a visit!

Bennett and I worked together at South Metro Human Services for approximately a year and a half. I believe Bennett excelled at working with clients who experienced psychosis, negative symptoms of schizophrenia, and, especially, cluster B personality disorders. He consistently made clients feel heard and supported. Bennett also demonstrated skill in engaging clients in conversations that facilitated self-advocacy with external providers, and, when clients faced barriers to advocating for themselves, Bennett stepped in to make sure their concerns were addressed. As a co-worker, Bennett was an incredible support and ally. As one of the few female employees on our team, I struggled a great deal with the experience of implicit and accidental sexism. I also came to this position fairly early in my recovery from my own experiences with depression and suicidal ideation and an eating disorder. Bennett was an amazing partner in this-- he validated my frustrations, problem-solved difficulties, called out other colleagues, and overall made going to work a happy and hopeful experience. I cannot recommend Bennett Jones highly enough. As a co-worker in the mental health field, and as a friend and support person who filled a puedo-therapist role in my daily life, Bennett is a deeply compassionate and remarkably gifted listener, and working with him has enriched my life in ways I am still discovering, months after our working relationship has ended.

About

I provide both individual psychotherapy and psychological testing. My belief is that people who come to therapy need a therapist who strives to understand their experience. As people come to feel understood and safe in the therapeutic context, they can then work through the difficult issues that impede their growth. My approach is to help clients to process life-related difficulties, explore what has influenced them to become the person they are today, and discover what might be blocking the attainment of a more satisfying life. Clients can expect a safe, collaborative therapeutic relationship that focuses on growth and building personal strengths so that they feel empowered to make changes in their lives. I enjoy working with clients in psychotherapy who have difficulties related to the following: * Depression * Lack of Life Satisfaction/Fulfillment * Anxiety, Stress, and Fears * Relationship Conflict/Relational Concerns * Intimacy Concerns * Difficulties Controlling/Expressing Emotions * Grief/Loss * Adjustment * Phase of Life Issues * Trauma * Abuse My work in psychological assessment with clients, who range from children to older adults, has addressed issues such as follows: * Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder * Autism Spectrum Disorder * Learning Disorders * Mood Disorders Such as Depression and Bipolar Disorder * Anxiety Disorders * Personality Disorders I currently accept clients insured with HealthPartners insurance and anticipate accepting other insurances in the near future.

About

In times of stress and transition, we might experience feelings of being overwhelmed, depressed mood, and anxiety. Frequently, we experience worsened physical symptoms, like difficulty sleeping, stomach upset, or pain. I offer the chance to consider alternatives in handling life's problems, find and build on your inner strengths, and discover new skills that can assist you both personally and professionally. It is my belief that to heal, we must care for spirit, body and mind. I work with adults experiencing mood problems such as depression, anxiety, and anger, relationship problems, and/or physical health problems like irritable bowel syndrome, insomnia, and cancer. I utilize a mind-body method which addresses the connection between mood, stress, physical health, and thoughts. My work includes assisting people in learning methods for aid in these areas; these strategies may involve lifestyle change, relaxation techniques, hypnosis, as well as other stress management methods.

About

I have specialized in treating youth for the past 10 years. I have training in Experiential Play Therapy, using Norton's model. This allows me to use the metaphorical meaning inherent in toys to help children know I understand their story, put words to it, and help them move through the healing process in the safety of metaphor. Children learn and heal through experiential process vs. cognitive process, so toys are a great method to help them in the therapy process. I provide a toy room specifically for play therapy. I also enjoy working with teenagers and young adults. These developmental years are made easier with the support of an adult who can listen, empathize, gently guide, and support as you learn and grow. I enjoy helping families manage the emancipation process and launch their children with success.

About

I am a licensed psychologist in the Minneapolis/St. Paul suburbs. I provide individual therapy for teens and adults, gay/lesbian couples and families. Integrative psychotherapy pays close attention to the mind/body relationship. I work with mindfulness, energy psychotropic, and a range of emotional self-regulation skills. I'm always integrating education in the neurobiology of how things work with all of us humans. I specialize in anxiety/depression, trauma, unresolved abuse (emotional or physical), and the implications of family of origin relationships. I also do some co-dependency and recovery issues. Most insurances are accepted.

About

I offer couples, individuals, and families an opportunity for a lasting change. You do not need to feel overwhelmed by life's problems any longer; I'm here to help you! My mission is to help regular people, just like you, with life's problems. My goal is to provide an opportunity for the kind of change that will let you lead a more fulfilling life. Counseling can help you cope with life's stresses, and increase your awareness. It can also give you more energy and of course, make you feel better! Help is here for you and your relationship. I work based on the idea that we heal in relationship. Because I have seen it many times, I believe that you can recover from anger and get unstuck and out of the same old patterns. Trust can be rebuilt after betrayal, and you can renew the intimacy that brought you together in the first place. Communication problems do not have to escalate to the point that they get out of control. I work with all types of couples, be it married, same sex, living together, dating or engaged. Segal Psychotherapy offers help for individuals. Individual counseling is an inner journey that's focused on your goals. It is a collaborative effort that will help you shift out of the patterns that no longer serve you and steer you toward the life you desire. After counseling, people often experience more fulfilling relationships, healed past hurts, the ability to manage your anger and your anxiety, the ability to cope more effectively with life changes, increased self esteem and feeling more balanced and whole. In general, after counseling, you may feel more in control of your life. If your past is holding you back because of painful memories, I use a method with proven success for trauma resolution (EMDR) that can help you.
