Steve was honest about the potential causes of the issue and that, depending on what was going on with the attic fan, costs could be higher. Luckily, it was just the fan belt which he replaced quickly. He is honest and responsive.

Gary started by repairing holes in the roof left by resident raccoons. But his personable, straightforward candor and his careful effort to keep the costs down but the quality exceptional was trust-inspiring. He added attic vents to this 1930's house, replaced knob and tube wiring, installed several outside doors, wrapped the house in new siding after replacing structural supports damaged by termites and adding a few architectural differences to change this colonial home to craftsman, then disposed of several outbuildings, excavated an area and added a 24x32 pole barn garage. Gary knows excellence and pride in a true craftsman's work and that's what he hires. His estimates are detailed and he exercises control to make sure a project stays in budget and on time.

Thought I had birds in my attic. Turns out they were accessing a bathroom exhaust fan vent instead. Ty went up in my crawl-space attic attic (not a fun or easy job), searched all around and verified that I did not have birds in my attic. Then he went onto the roof and determined that the bathroom vent was the access point the bird(s) was / were using. He cleaned and sealed up the vent with mesh / wire and solved my problem. Very professional, very friendly, very fast and very affordable. I would highly recommend this company based on the experience that I just had and I would definitely use them again. Awesome experience. A+++

Charlie did a fantastic job on our attic-to-master suite conversion. Great communication and very accommodating to our needs. Charlie ensured that the large project would be minimally invasive while we continued to stay at the residence. He built a staircase for entry to the project area so that everyday function of the home could be maintained. The budget never wavered throughout and our options were well planned in the initial stages. I would recommend Chux Reconstrux to anyone seeking a professional for any project; large or small. Proceed with confidence!

We had a water heater that was replaced buy 123 Plumbing. The water heater was in an odd location in a closet and it protruded halfway into the Attic. A competitor was completely intimidated by the job. Paul came in and spent some time evaluating it before committing. He did an excellent job! He obviously knows what he's doing. He is professional, personable and very up front and reasonable with his prices. I would definitely use him again.

My wife and I continue to use Safehouse Contracting for our home improvement needs. We've used them for a basement finish (see photos) on our own home, and for work on our rental/investment properties, including roof replacements, electrical repairs, attic insulation work, and grading.   They have a great crew, and there was nothing we asked for in our basement finish that they weren't willing to do for us: from a hidden bookshelf doorway, to 12" x 12" cubbies along an entire wall, to tiered seating with special wiring for our home theater, and even removing a wall along the stairs that we didn't want/need there anymore. They were very professional and highly skilled. We felt that the cost was affordable, and Joe Brose (one of the owners) was able to help us use our investment to finish the basement to the fullest. For example, we would ask for an added feature, and he would tell us how much it would cost.  But sometimes the cost could be curbed by changing it slightly, to take out a feature or changing to materials that were less costly. We feel like what often happens is that builders just say, "A cubby costs this much" and that's it. Instead, Joe says, "If you use wood, it will be this much, but if you use PVC, it will be this much, and you have other options as well." I have recommended SafeHouse Contracting to several friends and family already (two of my brothers have used them for basement finishes and other projects), and will continue to do so going forward. They are worth getting a quote from, even if you build with someone else!

I would HIGHLY recommend Manuel Hernandez for any work needed on the exterior of your home. Manuel provided an on the spot estimate/bid to make numerous repairs on our home. The repairs as listed below were completed and done with the utmost in professionalism. Manuel has a spectacular attention to detail mind and nothing was left undone. When an exterior paint color I had chosen was used and then I didn’t like it, he was soon off to Sherwin Williams to buy the new color. His dedication to the workmanship, his pride in his work and the level of expertise were excellent. I found Manuel as he was working on another house within my subdivision. I had watched his work progress on that house daily so when he was about done on that job, I stopped by and asked for his information. He has always been very respectful of our home. He is very courteous and very prompt. He is a very hard worker working for hours until daylight ran out. Daily clean up and all equipment was out of our way. We have dogs and he was very careful as to our dogs and any open gates. All gates were secured at night. We provided him our garage transmitter so he could store his tools within our garage. I had called numerous other contractors off of HomeAdvisor, Angie’s List and other referrals I had received. His honesty in showing me on my house what was still “good” and not needing to be replaced. Others had given me bids/estimates with so much more being replaced. One contractor had quoted me with pricing a siding panel at $400. Another had quoted me $3300 for one side only. Repairs/Job • Replaced board and batten siding • Applied wrap under the boards for added insulation • Applied Sherwin Williams paint • Applied protective coverings on windows, fixtures and ground covering as needed • Power washed all surfaces prior to any work • Applied caulking to all crevices/windows • Whole exterior house painting • Replaced any wood rot on existing areas/windows • Added new trim boards that were not on prior to the work • Cut/removed boards as needed to add new trim boards • Replaced wood privacy fencing and applied wood stain • Offered to replace any windows as needed {we opted to not due to custom order sizing/delays in order/pricing on windows by local retail}

Pros Property Management came in as the low bid for a new roof so I was a little bit nervous about going forward. However, I couldn't be happier with the results. They did exactly what they said they would do when they said they wanted to do it. I have a high pitch roof, live on a hill and my house is fairly large. They did the whole thing in 2.5 days. The quality appears high and when I did a walk around afterward they left no trash, nails, etc. When I was looking for someone to do the roof I had a hard time finding reviews of companies -- and there are a lot of roofing companies. I hope this review helps someone else.

We install spray-in-place polyurethane foam insulation and foam roof systems. A structure insulated with spray foam typically has half the energy bill over traditional insulation. The initial cost of foam is a fair amount higher than traditional, but the payback amount involved with foam is so high that doing anything else is by far less cost effective. The average-size American home could potentially see a return of literally the $70,000 and up range over 30 years, given the price increase trend for energy in the next 30 years is similar to the past 30, and it will probably be more. Polyurethane foam is used in your refrigerator, deep freezer, coolers, mattresses, chair and couch cushions, car seats—you have been eating off of it, sitting on it, and sleeping on it your whole life (middle-aged and younger people). I am convinced that foam in the cured state is fairly safe; fiberglass is a carcinogen (Google it), and cellulose is toxic waste (check it out also)—a structure with foam has a much healthier indoor environment primarily because of foam's ability to seal. Cellulose actually has more chemicals in it than you could possibly imagine, and that is before we get to the boric acid fire retardant. Now, what do you think happens when the wind blows, an exterior door is opened and closed, an exhaust fan is turned on, or anything that causes pressure change on the building, particles of insulation pass through holes everywhere? You breath these for the life of the building. Unfortunately, it is not usually cost effective to "inject" polyurethane foam into an existing wall, so this needs to be done in the construction phase; however, we can do some things to an existing home.
