WOW! Gina is amazing! I have had a couple of Angel Readings with her and she gave me so much insight regarding some issues that I was having at the time. What is most amazing is the fact that I never mentioned anything to Gina about what was going on at the time. She picked up on it through the reading and gave me the guidance and answers I needed. On top of that if you want any clarification or have any questions regarding the reading, she will reply right away. If I could have added more stars I would have. I highly recommend Gina, trust me you will not be disappointed!!

Donna has been providing training and coaching for our company for over 10 years. Her knowledge and expertise has improved the abilities of our staff immensely! Our trainers get higher feedback scores from audiences and this is directly attributed to Donna. Donna has also presented at our annual conference every year and audiences rave about her ability to connect with them as well as the content she provides. It is always fresh and gives them real life skills and tips to help them improve their own company operations. I would recommend Donna over many other public speakers and trainers I have encountered in my career! Sue B., NECA

Jo Rossi is an excellent and experienced coach. The x-bility courses she coaches are designed to build on each other and, through experiential activities, lead participants to recognize the limiting beliefs that are holding them back, and then change them. Jo individualizes the experience for each participant, through the questions she asks and the guidance she offers. Her knowledge and experience allow her to do this so that almost all participants consider x-bility courses to be a growing and positive experience. Jo is keenly insightful and empathetic, but not afraid to challenge in order to promote growth. As a coach, she is eminently qualified with a very strong record of success and achievement.

My first (and only) experience with a coach was with Dixie Gillaspie, and what a blessing to be coached by the best! Dixie Gillaspie is insightful, proactive, inspiring, and helped me identify - and ultimately overcome lifelong obstacles which had blocked my professional, as well as spiritual path. Decades of feeling 'stuck' put to rest. Her guidance; priceless.

Trainers are knowledgeable, tough yet compassionate, they really care and are focused on you and not just when youre with them but throughout the week. Always there for any questions and guidance. A wonderful experience that keeps me coming back even over a year and a half now! They have helped me so much on My Journey after my gastric bypass surgery and are an intricate part of me getting rid of 317 pounds... from a 6x shirt 66 in waist to a Med shirt 32 in waist... and I have become stronger. When losing that much weight no matter how much protein you digest you will still have loss of muscle strength yet they helped me keep what was possible and now gain so much strength back. It's amazing how they have helped me and I am forever greatful.

I was fortunate enough to find Cindy during a time when both my personal and professional life had become too much for me to keep organized. With her stable and compassionate guidance I was able to not only establish a sustainable approach to sorting and accomplishing my tasks, but also help me arrive at a much clearer understanding of the root of my challenges. I would recommend her to anyone having difficulty keeping the elements of their life in order.

I've had Charlotte do the taxes for my business for the last 3 years - worry and hassle free. She was professional, proficient and personable. A year ago, I was in the middle of a transition period and I needed some guidance; it was natural for me to contact Charlotte because she was familiar with my finances. Hiring her as a consultant was a turning point for my company; she helped me regroup and gain focus.

Benjamin has been my fitness trainer for seven months. I am 62 years old and was considered obese before we started training. Thanks to not only working out, but the instruction, guidance, support, and encouragement that I have received from my trainer, Ben, I have become healthier both mentally and physically, stronger, and more flexible. I have lost 50 pounds in a very healthy way. I love working out since he always changes what we do according to my needs. Ben has even corresponded with me between training sessions if I had a problem or question. I have been able to completely get off my medication for high blood pressure since I have started working with Ben. He is a wealth of information about nutrition, physical needs, and explains whatever we are doing and why it works. It amazes me what I can do now that I couldn’t do before. Ben has been very easy and fun to work with. I look forward to each of our training sessions. Thanks, Ben.

Monique has been a trusted adviser for me and was just what I needed to help work through a very uncertain time personally and professionally. Unlike others I've used for guidance previously, she was able to span, link, and synthesize issues going on at work and in my personal life. She shifts between listening and being prescriptive in a way that keeps each session dynamic and lively. She brings in thoughts and philosophies from many different teachers and styles without being wedded to any one particular school of thought. She also has a gift for sharing personal anecdotes that emphasize her belief in the techniques she espouses and show how she "practices what she preaches". She is open to alternative viewpoints and can discuss the pros and cons of different belief systems, which makes the coaching process feel very collaborative. Her approach is very customized and diligent, she prepares for each session and links back to the issues / topics discussed in prior sessions to bring continuity to the whole process. I especially appreciated the "homework" assignments, which made me feel like I had an active role in working through the issues and could make progress on my own outside of the coaching sessions.

      About

I specialize in career and communications coaching within the scientific and engineering industries. I typically work with two types of clients: 1) Mid-senior level technical professionals who are in career transitions toward positions that require more sales communications and people-management skills. This typically includes scientists or engineers moving from technical/regulatory industry roles into consulting/service industries; from corporate employment into self-employment; or from technical/project management into sales engineering/corporate management positions. 2) Junior level engineers/scientists trying to evaluate the type of career to pursue that utilizes their specialized education, personal preferences, and natural skill sets. I provide one-on-one coaching, corporate group career advising, change-management consulting, group communications training, and public speaking for educational, transitional, and motivational purposes usually for university, high school, or unemployment organization functions. My customers love working with me because I treat each person like an individual and motivate every person to creatively evaluate their educational and personal assets to consider pursuing/creating career opportunities that will provide long-term personal and professional satisfaction.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      What is a life coach?

A professional, accredited life coach works with people to help them make important changes in their life, either growing in their profession or changing gears in their personal lives. They help clients turn their dreams or wishes into realistic, attainable goals. They guide people through the process of making life changes by helping them evaluate the steps they must take to reach a particular goal, then help them decide how — and whether — to take those steps in the most efficient, effective and rewarding way possible. A life coach acts as a motivator, strategist and accountability partner. Unlike a therapist, a life coach doesn’t help solve problems from your past — they’re focused on helping you move forward with new ways of acting and thinking that will help you reach your goals. Some people specialize in particular types of life coaching, including life balancing coaches, small business coaches, executive coaches and personal finance coaches. Some meet clients in person, while others hold consultations over the phone.

Regardless of which type of life coach you’re interested in, make sure the person holds an International Coach Federation (ICF) credential. There are three tiers of credentials: Associate, Professional and Master, which require coaching experience ranging from 100 hours to 2,500 hours.

      What is a career coach?

If you’re interested in furthering your career and want expert help, a career coach is a smart solution. A career coach is a professional you hire to guide you during a job search or a career transition, or to help you improve and advance in your current position. A career coach analyzes your work situation and learns what your professional goals are. They then create a strategy to help you achieve your targets. Throughout the process they should provide objective feedback and guide you in approaching the process strategically. Here are some of the tools and tasks a career coach may assist you with:

      • Helping you build a strong resume that reflects your work history, potential, and skills
      • Coaching for interviews and strategies for solid answers built around your resume and the target job
      • Defining your career goals
      • Creating a plan for job searching
      • Improving networking strategies and skills
      • Developing strategies for negotiating raises or promotions
      • Assessing why you’re not getting where you want to go
      • Identifying new positions or career opportunities that fit your skills

How much does a life coach cost?

A life coach helps clients set and reach professional and personal goals, develop positive habits, and deal with stress. Some people meet with a life coach once or twice, while others form an ongoing professional relationship, meeting regularly in person or on the phone. The average national cost to meet with a life coach ranges from $80 to $130 an hour. Some coaches offer per-session pricing, especially for one-time meetings; expect to pay an average of $100-$125. People who want to work with a coach over a period of time to explore life transitions, career growth or lifestyle changes may be able to get discounted pricing in a package. For example, three 60-minute sessions cost an average of $300, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $350, and four 60- to 90-minute sessions plus unlimited contact between sessions cost an average of $400. Some specific types of coaching, such as relationship or marriage coaching, cost more than standard life coaching. For instance, three 60-minute relationship coaching sessions cost an average of $500, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $550, and six 60- to 90-minute sessions cost an average of $650 when purchased as a package. Training and experience can also affect the cost of hiring a life coach. An Associate Certified Coach, who holds a certification that requires only 60 hours of training and 100 hours of coaching experience, will charge less than a Master Certified Coach, who typically has at least 200 hours of training and 2,500 hours of coaching experience.

      Why is career counseling important?

Career counseling can help you discover your career path, help you overcome challenges preventing you from finding happiness in your job, or help you learn more about career opportunities that are available to you. Career counselors are typically counselors who specialize in helping guide people into their best career choices. As professionals, they have typically completed a master’s degree in counseling with a focus on career counseling and bring a nuanced understanding of the emotional blocks that prevent someone from doing what they love or getting ahead in their current position. Here are some of the ways that career counseling can help:

      • Identify your skills and talents and how they correlate to different career paths
      • Educate you about the educational requirements for launching in various careers and what earnings can look like
      • Help you understand the kind of environment you want to work in, and which careers are best suited for that
      • See opportunities to transfer your existing skill set to other career areas
      • Help you identify causes of tension or unhappiness in your current career and how to overcome those difficulties
      • Help you create a game plan for moving forward
      • Provide a safe space for you to understand your feelings about career choices you’re making

How much does it cost to hire a career coach?

A career coach provides one-on-one sessions to help you reach your career goals or overcome any challenges you’re having in your career path. The cost to have career coaching can vary based on factors such as the number of sessions you purchase at one time and the experience and rates of your counselor. Career counselors are typically professionals who have earned at least a master’s degree in their field. Based on their academic background, supplemental certifications they have received, and any postdoctoral work they have done, their rates may vary. Typically career counselors offer reduced rates when you sign on for their services on an ongoing basis. A typical price range for career counseling services (nationally) could be $75-$150 per session. Remember to always ask if the career counselor offers a complimentary introductory session. You want to make sure the relationship will be the right personality and counseling style fit to help launch your confidence and upcoming career changes.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
