Meagan baked 150-200 cakepops for my wedding reception favors. She made two flavors of my choosing and made them in the exact style and color scheme to match my wedding décor. I even sent her ribbon and monogrammed tags that I wanted on the favors and she individually wrapped and tied the tags to the pops! She arrived early, set up the favors on a display, plus the pops tasted great! She did a wonderful job and I would definitely recommend her for any party planning events!

Sylvia was my wedding planner and her work is absolutely AMAZING. I gave her my vision and she ran with it, my wedding was over the top and almost a year later I'm still getting compliments on how BEAUTIFUL it was. I owe it all to Sylvia and Made for You Events I will certainly be using her for every event I plan going forward.

Creative Impressions provided a bartending service for a wedding event. Shunta was very friendly and flexible. She checked in frequently leading up to the event to see if there were anything she could do to help. The guests also has really good feedback from her services. I would definitely recommend Creative Impressions for their bartending services.

Allegiant was great to work with! We had such a fantastic experience with them for our wedding. As with most weddings, things didn't go quite as planned and our driver was flexible and accommodating! The Limo was beautiful and everything went well with almost zero stress on our end. THANK YOU ALLEGIANT LUXURY LIMOUSINES!

Mrs. Kim is awesome person from within and out. Her and her daughter did an outstanding job at my wedding. Everyone enjoyed their presences. And, asked if she did other functions. I highly recommend Mrs. Kim for your wedding, birthday party, and/or any celebration.

Annie is a wonderful host/manager/event planner! Having worked with her to create both personal social events and business social events, I can attest to her warmth, professionalism, and efficiency. Not only does she do an excellent job "making it happen" for an event, but she makes helpful suggestions and offers advice in a way that is accessibly and authentic. It's like getting help from your mother except with no judgement or guilt! Annie really is a first-rate professional and one who truly cares about YOU, YOUR EVENT, and making YOU HAPPY. I highly recommend consulting with her when you plan your next event in the Raleigh area.

Amy was amazing. We acquired her services for day of that really meant month of planning. Our only regret not having her for the whole process. We highly recommend a wedding planner and choosing Amy will be a great decision. Our daughter's wedding was wonderful. We enjoyed every moment thanks to Amy. Her attention to detail ensured a worry free wedding rehearsal and wedding. Wedding big or small a wedding planner should be a priority.

We started planning our giant Indian wedding extravaganza about three months before the big day(s). The process was overwhelming at first. An event coordinator at one of our two venues saw our distress and suggested Jocelyn as our weekend coordinator. After our first meeting, we knew immediately that she would be a great fit - what a relief!! Jocelyn coordinated an entire weekend of wedding events for us, including a Friday night reception in Venue 1, a Saturday morning wedding ceremony in Venue 2, a one-hour room flip in Venue 2, a Saturday evening horse procession to Venue 2, and a Saturday evening reception in Venue 2. Before our wedding, she calmly dealt with a multitude of decoration and logistical requests from myself and the extended family. She was never flustered, always flexible with her time, and always extremely optimistic. She also had great suggestions for vendors and services that fell within our limited budget. The weekend of our wedding went beautifully, and while some minor details ended up falling through the cracks (centerpieces were different from what we planned - not that anyone but the immediate family noticed!), nothing major went wrong - which is a HUGE accomplishment for a massive Indian wedding planned only in 90 days. Many of our wedding guests told us it was the most organized Desi wedding they had ever been to. What an achievement! None of this would have been possible without Jocelyn. Her and her team are the absolute BEST!!!

We highly recommend Lilli's coordinating services based on our experience with her as our wedding day of coordinator. She delivers professional service at an excellent value. Before the wedding, she was organized, asked questions that we might not otherwise have thought of, and prevented things from falling off our radar. As promised, she learned all of our vendor details beforehand and contacted vendors to finalize their arrival. On the day of the wedding, Lilli did a great job managing everything. She put out fires for us, acted on our requests promptly, and communicated with us efficiently when our input was necessary but did not overburden us with details or decisions.

If you are planning a wedding, I heartily recommend Something Fabulous Weddings! During our long engagement, my wife and I (control freaks both) went back and forth about whether to have a large event to celebrate the actual event. Both of us had been married before and had considered throwing a big party sometime later in the year. But for some reason, with six weeks to go, we decided to have a reception on the wedding day. We had a guest list with more than 300 people on it, and we had identified a venue, but the venue was not in any sense a traditional one, so it came with no ready infrastructure available to support the event. Worse still, it was outside. So, less than six weeks before the big day, we had no bad weather plan, no theme, no caterer, no chairs, no tables, no music, no nothing except a vague sense of what we wished the celebration to be like. Fabulous Weddings to the rescue! They saved us. I have been told many times it was one of the best events of its kind that people had ever attended—the food, the setup, the tables and flowers and everything about it was just, well, FABULOUS. Of course, it rained cats and dogs on the day of the event, and everything had to be shifted and changed at the last minute. Through it all, Ashley and Trent remained cool and calm and got everything to work and work so well that we were proud to be the hosts of such a special night, and our guests were ecstatic! Without FW, we were zeros. With them, we were heroes. Do yourself a favor, hand them the keys and let them drive you to success. We did.

Amy was a tremendous help during my wedding day and through all the details prior. My day would not have been as perfect without her. She helped me with all the details from the moment I became engaged to the wedding day. She also organized and hosted my engagement party, which was beautiful and everyone had an amazing time. She has a great eye for detail and also seeing the big picture. She referred me to an amazing DJ and a local person that created beautiful silk flower bouquets, boutonnieres, and corsages. Amy also made and designed my silk flower center pieces, other silk flower displays, and other decorations for my wedding. They were so beautiful and perfect! Amy is super sweet, respectful, and dedicated to her work. She organized her own wedding and has helped many others. She is able to come up with ideas, offer advice, and work within any budget. She will not disappoint! If you need assistance in a day of wedding coorindator or help along the way, Amy is definitely a great choice! My wedding day would not have been as perfect without Outstandingly Original Occasions!

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How much does it cost for a wedding planner?

Wedding planning is a full-time job — unless you hire a professional to handle the hard work for you. The cost for a wedding planner will depend on the level of service you desire. The least expensive wedding planner option is day-of coordination, then partial service, then full-service.

The national average cost for wedding planning is between $990 and $1,300. Costs are greatly affected by region, with rural or smaller-town wedding planners often far more affordable than planners in higher-cost cities. Here are some examples of the various levels of wedding planning and their potential average costs:

      • Day-of-wedding coordination: $800-$1,700. Day-of services can include the planner finalizing all details, creating a timeline, confirming vendors and overseeing all setup, day-of activities, and cleanup. The couple does all the front-end planning and contracts all the vendors. Time commitment could be about 15-25 hours, depending on pricing.
      • Partial service: $1,500-$3,800. Here the planner works with the couple from the beginning, helping contract vendors, creating a timeline, and overseeing all details of day-of execution. Time commitment could be about 30-60 hours, depending on package and pricing.
      • Full service: $3,500-$8,000 or more. Here the professional handles all wedding and planning details including working on design, securing rentals, getting the venue and vendors, and handling complete execution of the event. Time commitment could be 50-150 hours or more, depending on package and pricing.
      • Consulting: $50-$150 per hour for design, vendor, reception and other wedding planning consultation.
