Stephanie W. says, "On 19 Jan 2024, we contracted Leone Group LLC to install our BASCO Rotolo shower doors and was given a 1-year warranty. Richard Mintz, owner of Leone Group LLC, sent 2 gentlemen to install the shower doors and he came to perform a QC of their work. When using the shower for the first time, my partner (Marc) noticed that the shower doors were installed incorrectly and were backwards, causing the water from the shower to run onto the floor outside of the shower. We notified Richard, and he had the doors reinstalled. Over time, I noticed that the exterior shower door had become harder to slide and didn't know why as I had never had this type of shower door. While I was cleaning the shower, the inner shower door fell towards me, and I was unclear why. While troubleshooting the difficulty of sliding the exterior door and watching a video and looking at the instructions that were on BASCO's website, I realized that the door should have had an anti-jump rail to prevent the interior shower door from jumping off of the track. I also realized that the external shower door was misaligned. Recently, on 04 Aug 2024, we notified Richard about the failure of his team to install the anti-jump rail and the misalignment of the exterior shower door. His response was that he would install the anti-jump rail once we purchased it because it may not have been included. Our stance is we provided all materials the first time and it was the responsibility of his team to notify us if, after checking the packing list, an item was missing. He is not showing any accountability for things his team failed to do starting on the day of installation which was proven by them installing the door backwards. He is continuing to endanger our safety by not promptly addressing these items. He has not shown any customer service, the is the least he owes us for having to call him back these many times to correct items that should have been done correctly the first time. Do not recommend them and would have paid more to have this installed correctly the first time and have a company stand behind their warranty."See more

Supreet K. says, "Andrew did an amazing job on constructing a wooden screen wall to separate two rooms in our house. When he came to give us an estimate, he asked a lot of questions to make sure that he understood our vision as it was a unique project. He is very friendly and a hard worker. He answered any questions I had and when it came to the actual work, he worked diligently all day from morning to evening. He even took something home to continue working on it there so that our project could be finished as quickly as possible. I would highly recommend him for any construction work you have as we are pleased with the finished product and had a great experience!"See more

FAQs

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does a concrete patio cost?

On average, a concrete patio costs about $2,500-$7,000. The cost to install a concrete patio will vary depending on the size, the finish, whether you want it stamped and many other factors. That’s why you should always get a few cost estimates from professionals when planning this project.

How do you clean a concrete patio?

Use a hose and liquid dish soap to scrub and wash away dirt from your concrete patio. You can also use a pressure washer (just make sure you know how to use it). You can also hire a professional patio cleaner or pressure washing service to help you maintain your patio.

How do you paint a concrete patio?

To paint a concrete patio or porch, decide what type of paint you should use. For example, you might want to consider epoxy-based paint for stain resistance and durability. Then, you’ll need to clean and prep the area, fix any cracks and holes, apply a primer and apply two coats of paint.

To ensure the job is done correctly, hire a concrete painter near you.

How do you fix cracks in a concrete patio?

To fix the crack and holes in your concrete patio, you can apply a concrete repair mix or concrete crack filler. However, for more severe cracks, consider hiring a concrete repair contractor. They have the skills and experience to fill your cracks and holes, ensuring your concrete patio will last as long as possible.

How do you stain a concrete patio?

Hire a concrete staining contractor for this project. These professionals will clean your concrete patio, repair any cracks, and apply the stain and sealer for you.

How thick should a concrete patio be?

Generally, a concrete patio is 4-8 inches thick. Your concrete contractor or patio builder should be able to determine how thick your patio should be.

How much does it cost to build a deck?

The cost of building a new deck or porch is $1,500. However, this price can vary depending on a few different factors. The square footage of the space, the type of materials to be used, the intricacy of the project and your specific region can cause the price to fluctuate. What is the best sealer to use on concrete?

Because unsealed concrete is porous, it readily absorbs liquids, leading to unsightly stains and freeze-and-thaw cycle damage. For this reason, it’s important to seal concrete that will see spills or outdoor weather.

The best option for garage floors and other high-traffic areas is epoxy, which forms a hard and extremely durable surface on top of concrete. Epoxy, acrylic, and polishes are often used on indoor floors, while acrylic-resin sealers and reactive penetrating sealers are used on outdoor surfaces to repel water and salt. Locate a concrete contractor in your area to help find the best solution.

What do paving contractors do?

Paving contractors can be hired to install a concrete or asphalt driveway at your home, office or property. They can also repave an asphalt or concrete driveway that has been damaged by time, weather or heavy loads. When you are looking for a driveway contractor, request quotes from at least three professionals who are in good standing and have great customer reviews. They should do a site visit and write you a bid, detailing the work involved, materials needed, approximate length of the project and estimated cost.

The site for your new driveway will determine costs and the work required for your contractor. First, the ground must be excavated to lay a clear path. This means removing any trees, bushes and stumps. Next, the driveway contractor will grade the area, making a level surface for the concrete or asphalt. To ensure proper drainage, driveway contractors should install a sub-base of compacted gravel (or similar) 4 inches-8 inches deep, depending on your soil type. Then the concrete or asphalt may be poured and smoothed over the top. Your driveway contractor should recommend an appropriate sealant for your climate and advise you on curing time. Does a deck increase home value?

A back deck may (or may not) increase your home’s value or attract potential buyers if you’re looking to sell. According to the Remodeling Impact Report: Outdoor Features, a new wood deck with an estimated construction cost of $10,000 recovered $8,000 for the overall recovery of 80%. Still, 9% of realtors suggested that home sellers should add a new wood deck before putting their home on the market, and 4% said this project has helped closed deals.

The impact of adding a new deck will likely depend on its material (wood, composite, etc.) and where you live. For example, if you live in an area where people rarely spend time outside because of the weather, it’s reasonable to predict that prospective home buyers might not rate a deck highly on their list of must-haves when looking for a new home.

When in doubt, consult with your realtor or a real estate expert to figure out if adding a new deck to your home is the right move to increase your home’s value. If it is, contact the best deck contractors near you to get free estimates and start planning your project.
