THEY BELIEVE IN QUALITY WORK THE FIRST TIME AND NEVER CUT CORNERS FOR THE SAKE OF THEIR CLIENTS. The privacy fence at my home was damaged during hurricane Matthew. The 2 door vehicle access gate had been blown off at the hinges and the ground had washed out around some posts causing the fence to lean. There were also some substantial water spots that had appeared in the ceiling after the hurricane as well. Mr. and Mrs. Murray operate a great family run company. They were quick to respond to my request and set up a time to come out and quote me a free estimate. We discussed many options on how to approach the repairs and welcomed my feedback instead of just telling me how they wanted to fix it as they saw fit. They are ready to work as soon as you have available time and work around you schedule, no questions asked. They replaced a 20 foot (approximate) section of fence from scratch. New posts, new framework and new panels right off the existing structure. The gate was also built from scratch. They do not use prefabricated material. Work was complete in a matter of hours on the fence. The water spots were a simple fix, but they took the time to identify a cause within the attic. Once they had found the problem they took care of it without question and explained what they had found and how to keep check for it myself in the future if i needed to. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a respectful, honest and high quality company for all around repairs.

We hired JFItzgerald to do several jobs at once. Roofing, tearing down and rebuilding a deck, tearing down old fencing and putting in new fencing, vinyl siding repair are just some of the items. Everything was completed in a timely manner and looks great! Not only was John very professional, he provided great customer service and was a very tidy worker. There was never any trash or debris left lying around. We will definitely hire him again in the future and will recommend him to anyone looking for a General Contractor.

I had a concrete floor installed in a large metal garage. the ground was very uneven. Nayser came out and leveled the ground and poured my pad. He did an excellent job. It is hard to find people that take pride in their work. If you are look for someone to do concrete work Neyser is the person for you. He does a good job and can be trusted. I am planning to get more work done.

I started off hiring John of Ark Construction to make metal awnings from the same metal as my roof and then it went on to repairing my deck, painting the trim on my house fixing my french door and closing in my carport. I and my Husband are extremely pleased with all the work that was done. John is very trustworthy and does not try to sell you stuff you don't need, he does a very good job and has a very nice personality. I would highly recommend him for any job he was hired to do.

Jake responded to my request quicker than expected. We were able to schedule an appointment for the following day. My husband and I were expecting to have to pay for a new roof but Jake was able to help us file an insurance claim and get our entire roof replaced by our insurance company. PW Roofing then had our roof installed in less than a day. Would definitely recommend them for anyone needing roofing work

Very pleased! Adam Norris, is dependable with reasonable prices. Recently he built a very sturdy porch and ramp on my home. I knew what I wanted...he knew how to build it! Before that, he installed metal roofing on my house and my storage building. So many carpenters are not dependable nor trustworthy these days. Give Adam a call. You won't be disappointed!

Mike and his partner showed up and had my siding fixed in no time. The siding that came off was nailed back on and the ones that were loose were nailed to keep them from coming off. A shingle that was bowed up was also fixed. It turned out the person who installed the roof had placed that shingle crooked. Mike’s partner took his time to take the shingle off and straighten it out before securing it back on. Thank you!

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

      • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

      • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
        • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
      • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
      • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
      • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
      • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
      • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
