I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Jonathon and Salazar Express Service. They did an excellent job painting our house. Jonathon and his team were professional and personable. He checked in with us throughout the process to keep us updated on progress and get any feedback. They were finished ahead of time and the work was outstanding. He made sure we were pleased with the work before paying . We were so impressed with his efficiency and quality of his work that we have already hired him for a second project on our house. I would highly recommend Salazar Express.

I needed to have some old decayed soffits replaced on my front porch. Randy was knowledgeable, professional, and did excellent work. After removing the old wood, we discovered that the problem was more severe than we had originally thought and that the fix would require more work. He took it all in stride, and basically completed the entire project (from deconstruction and gathering materials to painting and carpentry) all in one day. The price was fair, and the repair looks great. We would definitely recommend 828 Construction to anyone needing carpentry or repair work.

Initial job was pressure wash house and stain portion that was cedar shake shingles. Work was done professionally and on-time. Workers were polite and cleaned up every day. Cost was about $2100, right in line with other estimates. I was happy with work and extended it to decking and additional house painting. In all, cost was about $4600, a fair price and an excellent job.

Used them to hang up shutters on the exterior of my house. Called them on a Friday and I loved that they were able to come out the next day--on a Saturday. Showed up precisely on time and they did a great job. Will use them again.

Greg painted my large foyer area and ceiling, which both needed a lot of attention due to a roof leak and neglect from previous owners/renters. Communication was great throughout the process, as Greg was quick to answer questions and thorough in his explanations. He also recommended and gave advice on paint colors, types, and finishes. I initially planned to go with a solid neutral white throughout the house, but I ultimately decided on three shades of gray in the foyer (including a dark gray accent wall). I'm very happy with the color combination. There were a couple of significant miscommunications about the layout of the colors and what was to be included and what wasn't (i.e., trim painting), but we were able to settle and clear those up amicably. Pros: The ceiling looks great and Greg did not make a mess on any the fixtures, smoke alarms, etc. He was careful to tape everything, remove light switch and outlet plates, and use appropriate prep materials to hide/seal the previous leak. I'm extremely happy with the ceiling. There are also no significant paint splatters or issues with the paint getting onto things it shouldn't have, even with multiple colors next to each other. Cons: I wish I had known to clean the baseboards and walls (maybe with TSP) and then to spackle a couple of spots. I assumed those would be handled, but I didn't ask, which was my error. There are a couple of spots where spackle would've worked nicely, so I do wish there was a bit more prep work with sanding and filling. Secondly, there was an area of the house where the walls were in poorer condition, so there are visible lines that look almost like two slightly different colors (a few bands of slightly different colors). It wouldn't be as noticeable if it wasn't where the light comes in the front door area. Greg came out after the initial completion and attempted to touch up blend the area, but it could've likely just used another coat of paint on the entire wall rather than a blending because it's as noticeable (or even more noticeable) than before. I realize my walls were in very bad shape and low luster paint shows more imperfections, so it's a huge improvement and I'm happy with the results. I may later hire have another coat done to the foyer area later on just to perfect it. Just a few things to be mindful of in the future. Regardless, I plan to hire Greg again for other rooms, as my budget and reno plans permit. He did a great job overall. Thanks!

There's nothing that I've found that can't be fixed/improved by Around the House! From replacing parts in a dishwasher, to planting window boxes, to masonry work on an outdoor fireplace, and many other jobs, everything was done quickly, and the pricing is very reasonable. He knows a lot about every device and structure and offers excellent suggestions and terrific execution of those suggestions!

Dean and his wife and Anthony finished painting the exterior of my house on Friday, August 26, 2016. When Dean came to give me my estimate, he explained what they would do to prep my house to staining my decks, They were punctual and completed the work exactly as discussed. Dean can add another satisfied customer to his projects.

I hired Bobby to paint our master bedroom and bathroom a few months ago. The rooms have high ceilings which made it something i put off doing myself for a long time. But it was time to get rid of the drab beige that was there when we bought the house and add some color. Bobby did a fantastic job. I've had some bad experiences in the past with painters who do a quick and sloppy job, but Bobby was skilled and proficient. He protected the floors and furniture, hand cut the trim and corners, and worked around my awful popcorn ceilings with ease. He was pleasant and professional to interact with. I was really happy with the price, especially given the quality of work. I'm having him come back to tackle my stairs, hallways, ceilings and closets to spruce the place up for spring. I've also been considering painting our cabinets and feel comfortable that he has the attention to detail that it takes to do that kind of job right. I appreciate that I now have a go to person for quality, affordable painting.

They were very responsive and very proffessional. They treated my house with care. They also were very reasonably priced of all the painters I talked to. The job they did was great with the exception of a few light spots. Overall I was pleased with their work.

I have used this company several times throughout the past 10 years for my painting needs. The owner is punctual and has always returned my calls promptly. He delivers on his promises. The painters are professional in my home and always respect my belongings and my pets. The jobs that they have completed for me have always been well done. If there is anything I am unhappy with, it is promptly corrected to my liking. I never have to worry about clean up because I know they will leave everything the way they found it, or better. I will continue to use this company for my painting needs and would recommend them to anyone.

They were kind and patient with me as I fret over deciding a color combo. They offered their professional and personal opinions which helped greatly in my decision making. The house is unrecognizable from how it was before. Total transformation! Thank you Morgan and co. I am extremely grateful

The guys at Shiny Home Remodeling are very professional. I had my walls patched and painted, attic was insulated, kitchen cabinets sanded and painted, and other things. These guys are very handy and clean after themselves. No problem asking for suggestions and PRICE was negotiated to what I could afford.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

    • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
    • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
    • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
    • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
    • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
    • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
