I had been playing guitar casually for a few years and decided I needed some professional help getting to the next level. Shane put me through a strong curriculum that strengthened by playing skills on multiple levels. I would highly recommend him to any friends and family willing to learn guitar/bass/vocals. He has a flexible schedule and an easy going personality that makes the learning experience really enjoyable.Highly Recommended!
We started working with Justin over the summer break and we have been very pleased. Communicating and scheduling with Justin has been easy and his guitar lessons have been very helpful for our 12 year-old son.
We brought our son to James in Aug of this year and have seen improvements in his playing within weeks. We highly recommend him for guitar lessons. A O’Hara
Paul hosts great lessons - I came in as a beginner and Paul provides a good balance of enthusiasm and understanding to motivate me to get better. I would definitely recommend Paul for his abilities and great teaching style.
I learned Bluegrass Mandolin from Jan when I lived in Raleigh in late '90. It was my dream time. I miss your lesson, but I really enjoyed it. I take a Japanese mandolin teacher's lessons and enjoy mandolin in Japan. But everything was starting from your lesson. Thank you, Jan.
Charlie has been teaching acoustic guitar to my 13 year old son for 7 years. He is an excellent instructor that is very patient with beginners. My son has made great progress in these 7 years and has expanded his lessons to include piano and dobro which Charlie has supported and instructed him in also. I would recommend Charlie to instruct any beginners in guitar, piano or dobro.
I have been one of Suzanne's guitar students for several years in an evening group lesson situation at a local high school. I like Suzanne's enthusiasm and creativity in a lesson environment. I also admire how quickly she can deconstruct a song and make it playable for the class. Suzanne does an excellent job of balancing learning new songs and teaching the theory behind them without slowing down the fun. Her students seem to quickly pick up the guitar and enjoy playing it almost from day one. I especially like that there is "no fault" if an adult student has trouble finding time to practice between lessons. Of course, without practice, it is hard to improve quickly. Sometimes we work on a song that isn't one I'd choose. But this exposes me to other music genres and provides new learning elements. Suzanne asks us for input of which songs we'd like to learn, so the occassional "dud" song isn't really a problem. As the skills of the class continue to improve, it might be interesting to have class members bring a song to discuss/improve with input from their peers and Suzanne - think of a writer's workshop. For a fun guitar lesson experience, I highly recommend Suzanne.
I took guitar lessons from Paul Warren at the Raleigh Music Academy for about two years. Paul was great and was able to customize a lesson plan for me to advance my playing ability faster. In addition to invididual instruction, the RMA has student shows so each student gets an opportunity to play in a live setting and gain greater experience and knowledge through interaction with other students. Each summer the RMA has a guitar workshop and guitar clinic where they bring in a well-known guitarist which gives students an opportunity to learn directly from a professional musician and participate in a Q & A with the artist. The RMA is great and really professionally run. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to improve as a musician whether they're a beginner or advanced player.
I've been sending my son to learn drumming with Mr.Brandon since July 2016 at his music studio (da Capo al Coda) in Fayatteville. Mr.Brandon is very patient and kind with his students and very flexible if we need to change the time of the training if the need be. The studio itself is has pretty good spacing for the parents to sit down and watch kids train. Also, he is very reasonably priced. In the past 3 months, I've seen my son's love for music and drumming increase and I credit it to Mr.Boyles for instilling love of music/drumming in his students.
