Mike had a great sense of humor and made everyone feel at ease, which is notable since we were navigating a personal ceremony in a tight space . He shot exactly what I wanted for the wedding ceremony and reception, worked well with the photographer, and sent me the footage in a timely fashion. It was a pleasure working with him!

Creative Eye was the videographer for our wedding, and our video turned out beautiful, exceeding my expectations. I had looked several places for a high-quality, low cost videographer, but most places are extremely overpriced. Creative Eye is reasonably priced, easy to work with, very friendly, and high-quality. They worked well with me--a somewhat indifferent bride who didn't know what she wanted--and they created a masterpiece. I couldn't be happier!

When it came time for our wedding, my then fiancé and I were always on the fence about having a video made, not because we didn't want one but because with all the expenses we didn't think we could afford one. Just one month before our wedding day of 6/10/16 I made an executive decision and went to Thumbtack in search of a videographer for our big day. Here I had a few options but ultimately settled on Magic Moments and I couldn't be happier with that decision! Brian from Magic Moments was phenomenal from start to finish including the planning up to our big day and the videos he took and provided us. Brian / Magic Moments were professional, punctual and provided fantastic, quality footage of our wedding day which included both a 5 minute highlight film and 4 hour unedited film both shot it wonderful HD and given to us on Blu-Ray DVDs! Thanks to Magic Moments we have a wonderful, quality video which we can enjoy for years to come! I would absolutely recommend Magic Moments for any videography needs you may have!

Michael and his team did an awesome job documenting our wedding. My wife and I are truly grateful to find a videographer that was very open in filming our Chinese/Vietnamese wedding. Our wedding day started very early and Michael was very accommodating. Michael took initiative in learning the culture, and right off the bat he knew what moments to shoot to make our wedding video so memorable. When we reviewed the full featured video--it brought our special day to life. Our family and friends were so impressed with the work Michael and his team put out. Thank you for your awesome and hard work. We will definitely keep you in mind and will recommend you to anyone. Cheers

I had the pleasure of working with Ayan this past spring. He was hired by the Food Truck Festivals of America to shoot a promo clip of my food truck business for an upcoming festival. I was extremely nervous and camera shy as it was my first time being filmed, but Ayan made me feel comfortable with his style of interviewing and shooting. I felt that I didn't give him great footage to work with but the finished product came out far better than I ever could have expected! His level of professionalism paired with a genuine interest in our story made for a wonderful experience. All around a great film maker with an eye for drama and detail (not to mention his handy editing skills!!). After he made our promo video, we hired him to create a full length video of our business. To say I was excited would be an immense understatement. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a videographer for their wedding or any special occasion. I promise you will not regret it.

We thought that Jim Nogueria was a great wedding videographer! We found out about Jim's videography services through this website, Thumbtack. We were very satisfied with the overall quality of our wedding movie. We thought that the video captured all of the high points of our wedding, which included the key parts of the ceremony and reception. Although Jim was filming for 8-9 hours, the final edited wedding video was around 1.5 hours and included DVD chapters so we could navigate with ease to a certain part of the wedding movie. I had thought that Jim would have filmed the ceremony in its entirety, but he didn't include some of the standard Sunday mass aspects, like setting of the table, communion, etc. or the entire duration of the receiving line at the end of the ceremony. This was not a problem for us, but you just want to make sure the expectations are set and that you are both on the same page to avoid any disappointments at the end. Prior to hiring Jim as our wedding videographer, we liked how he was very responsive to the emails I sent him with my questions and how thorough he was with explaining the entire process. We actually never met face to face with Jim prior to the wedding, but felt that phone calls and emails were sufficient. We also liked how Jim, at the time of booking him which was almost 1.5 years ago, was one of the very few videographers in our area that was offering filming in 4K, which is the current and highest standard for video resolution. Jim always made sure that I was happy and completely satisfied with his services, including after he provided the finished product. In addition to the wedding video which he provided in the Blu-Ray disc format, at my request, he also provided me with the final wedding video/trailer video files, as well as all of the raw video footage which was not in the final wedding file. He sent me an external hard drive which I then I copied the files to my computer for backup purposes. Overall, we were very happy that we decided to hire a wedding videographer because the wedding video will be something that we will cherish forever.

Tim did an amazing job filming my wedding and putting together a video and a highlight reel that I got to share with my fb friends! I have a moment in time I'll get to relive forever thanks to his wonderful work. Everything from the music and quality was perfect and had me in tears at the moments he captured. My husband and I can't wait to work with Timothy again.

We loved having Nola and her assistant do our wedding videography. We were hesitant about spending extra money on a video but feel so lucky and happy to have done it! Nola was very professional and listened to what we wanted. She gave us a shortened video to share with everyone as well as a long video to have forever. Her pricing was ideal considering we didn't want to overspend and she allowed us to do payments spread out which was super helpful. I highly recommend Nola!!

We hired Pixsmotion as our videographer for our wedding day and we could not be happier that we did. Pete did a wonderful job capturing the day (despite the rainy drizzle!). We cannot thank him enough for his work. We have already watched the edited videos several times and have received so many compliments from family and friends. Pete was professional, responsive and so easy to work with. He was actually probably one of our favorite vendors! We feel so lucky to have stumbled upon Pixsmotion. We would recommend Pixsmotion in a heartbeat to any bride and groom looking for an affordable videographer who will not disappoint!

We asked Mike to take some pictures of our 25th wedding anniversary celebration. I am usually the photographer in the family so I just wanted to be able to sit back and let someone else capture our day. Which Mike and Colleen did beautifully!

Paul was very nice, did a great job, and was willing to accommodate our wedding video needs on short notice. He got us an edited version of our full ceremony in less than two weeks that family and friends have enjoyed greatly. We have had some trouble getting in touch with him after he sent us the video link, but otherwise have had a wonderful experience working with Paul.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

      • Package 1: $1,400
        • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
        • Two cameras with audio equipment.
        • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
        • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
      • Package 2: $1,800
        • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
