This is my first experience using professional movers. I’ve been hesitant in the past because of the experiences of friends and family. I couldn’t be happier with my experience with Jameson Moving. Matt couldn’t have been quicker to respond to my initial message and each text or call I made to him afterwards. He was kind, professional, and more than helpful, not to mention very accommodating as my move was on very short notice. Devon and Aaron were just as amazing. They were incredibly efficient as the movers. I was shocked at how quickly and safely they were able to move my apartment. They were also both incredibly kind, professional, and friendly. I very confidently recommend Jameson Moving. I’d suggest them to any of my friends and family and won’t hesitate to use them in the future!

I needed 4 appliances and a kitchen table with 4 chairs plus some odd and some odd and ends . it was enough to fill a small truck .I was completely surprised by Joe and his crew . Joe is the most professional and respectiful mover of Other Peoples Stuff .Having just moving in on 10/16 ,we had experience with a large moving company Sudath . My experience with Joe Merola tops them by a mile in every single circumstance except Sales . On any small move I can Highly recommend Joe Merola's Company.

Brian and his associate were fantastic! My original movers cancelled at the last minute and I wasn't even sure I was going to be able to find anybody. Brian called me back immediately and came through at the last minute even though he was over an hour away! Brian and his team were super friendly extremely thorough helpful and honestly were true lifesavers during a really stressful time. he even moved me through a huge snowstorm and everything was handled meticulously!! I will most definitely be using him again for any future moves and highly recommend him to anybody going through either a small or large move. they truly were awesome....and who can never confidently say that about their movers??...job well done!!!...many thanks to you guys

Burke At Work Moving... where we do all of the work! Burke At Work Moving offers everything from professional moving labor to full-service moves that can be tailored to meet your budget. Professional moving labor service options: 1.) Mover/driver -- In case you are uncomfortable driving a larger vehicle such as a moving van/box truck (anywhere in the continental US), or you have friends/family helping you, but you need a pro to help properly wrap/pad/protect your belongings and make sure the moving van(s)/storage container(s) are loaded correctly. Light dis-assembly/reassembly, as well as all necessary moving tools are provided. When items are loaded correctly, the potential for damages are eliminated, as well as efficiently utilizing all available space. And utilizing all of the available space means saving money because customers can rent a smaller storage container/unit or make only 1 trip in a rented moving van that drinks fuel and charges you per mile. 2.) 2-4 professional movers and moving van(s) -- Standard crew for most residential moves where customer packs and boxes their own items. Our crew will pad/protect all items and load/unload moving van(s) or storage container(s)/unit(s). Light dis-assembly/reassembly, as well as all necessary moving tools are provided. Full-service move: 2 to 4+ professional movers -- Customer touches nothing! We pack/wrap your belongings/items, box everything up, load it up, and then unload, unpack, and dispose of unwanted boxes/trash. It includes everything listed above.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What do moving companies do?

Moving companies provide a range of services to help you physically move out of one residence and move into a new place. But moving companies can do so much more than just haul your belongings across town in a truck. The national average for moving company prices ($250-$350 per hour) reflects the range of services provided. Here are examples of all the ways moving companies can help:

    • Packing: Moving companies can pack your belongings for you. They typically charge a flat rate for both the box and the labor to pack the box. The more time-consuming the belongings are to pack, the higher the cost per box. For example, books could be $5 per box, linens $10 per box, and fine china and glassware $18 per box.
    • Specialty moving: Safely move a baby grand piano, a oversize aquarium, or other specialty items with the help of pro movers.
    • Storage: Many moving companies can store your belongings while you wait for a new home to be remodeled or closing of your new home to be finalized. If you’re moving long-distance, they often provide short-term storage free for a specific length of time, and a set rate after that (such as $60 per square cubic foot of storage space used).
    • Long-distance moves: No need to rent a trailer and move your things; a long-distance moving company can haul your belongings across the country for you. Typically they charge by the cubic foot for moves, with prices based on your destination.
    • Unpacking: Moving companies can even unpack your belongings for you after they have moved them. This is not as common, and will definitely increase the price, but can be helpful if you’re not able to tackle this task yourself.

How much does a moving company charge per hour?

When you’re ready to make a major move, it’s time to research moving companies’ prices. A moving company may charge on average anywhere between $25 and $100 per hour, per worker, for moving services. The price will vary with regional labor rates, local cost to do business, and the level of service the movers are providing. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a moving company is $250-$350 per hour. This price includes a range of pricing, from all-in service with four or more movers on site to standard hourly rates for one or two movers. Other factors that affect moving companies’ prices are packing, stairs (or elevators), and distance. For a full-service move, you pay movers to pack your belongings for you. You may pay for the cost of the moving boxes and an hourly rate per worker, and there may be additional charges for packing fragile items. Stairs will also add to your moving prices. Lifting and carrying boxes and furniture up and down stairs takes more time and creates more physical labor for the workers. Moving companies may charge flat rates for flights of stairs, such as $50-$70 per flight. A moving company may also charge a one-time fee for moving things via elevator, such as $75-$100. If parking is not accessible in front of your home or apartment building, there may also be an additional fee for the added distance to carry your belongings to the truck.
