Ilir was informative and knowledgeable about what was happening to our roof. We had some shingles fall off and I appreciate that he did not try to sell us a new roof nor just a quck patch job. Instead he and his crew spent hours doing a detailed repair and I feel much more at ease that we have prolonged the life of our current roof. Thanks American Brothers!

We have a boiler that for some reason many do not want to work on, high efficiency, wall-mounted. Our usual guy is sick, so we found Felipe on Thumbtack. His partner was here within a couple of hours, carefully diagnosed the issue, then got us all reset and back online. They also followed-up this morning to see how we were doing. While I hope we do not need them back for this :), I would not hesitate to turn to them for other work.

A1 fixed up a section of my roof that was damaged by a falling tree. They were prompt to show up and examine the work from both the roof top and as well as crawling through my attic space. Estimate provided was clear and, I thought, was very reasonable. The fix was completed on time and the work place was all cleaned-up. Very happy with the results. I will definitely use them agai.

all of us who have lived with a flat roof know the dread that comes season to season..the result of possible leaks and water invasion...well, this summer season, I was hit!, my specific trouble came from shoddy and unprofessional flashing in key areas of my roof--the result of a poor choice of a roofing contractor. I wasn't gonna let it happen again...so this time, I met with 8 roofers and I chose Roman Supinski and crossed my fingers--Man did he come through! as a certified Firestone installer, Roman provided us with the comfort that we needed: a new precision roof with comprehensive flashing. He operated like a surgeon and in doing so, he squashed the anxiety of flat roof ownership..Roman is the real deal..I"ve done all the "leg work " for you. Go Roman!

Eduardo Manito arrived on time for all aspects of my reroofing job; he guaranteed his work, had 20 years in the business and was very knowledgeable about the serious leaking I had. He told me that the second course of Timberline shingles had been improperly installed resulting in very wet underlayment, which was rotting in some places. My roof was 38 years old. His crew of 6 men replaced 20 sheets of underlayment with new plywood, installed the 27squares of new roof after removing both courses of old shingles in one day. They replaced all flashing and installed it correctly. They cleaned up the yard and answered all my questions, were always PROFESSIONAL, and gave me a very good price for the job. (They beat all their competitors pricing) I called 5 references of five recent jobs they did and all praised their work. I really had no complaints and I will use them again when I do my siding. Steve did a great job and was very responsive. With so many rainy days over the past month, we had to reschedule the job a few times to get a couple of consecutive dry days. Steve checked in often and scheduled the job quickly when the weather cooperated. He considered the most cost-effective option, and gave good advice for future roof maintenance. I'll be hiring him to seal my asphalt driveway and wouldn't hesitate to hire him to install a new roof, as he gave me a great quote for that.

They removed the edge of the roof or soffit which was full of carpenter bees. Owner was very responsive and punctual. I am yet to use their help on bigger job but I was happy with the first job. We had to cancel first appointment due to weather condition and rescheduled it to 2 days later. However, It rained on the day as well but I am glad they finished the work despite weather condition.

We had a new roof, gutters, a fence and some other small home maintenance work done. The craftsmanship of all of the work, especially the roof, was superbly done. It's a colonial with particular edges which required hand made solutions to bring it back to its natural glory and that is exactly what was done. We were clients and sometimes students, as time was taken to explain the process, materials being used, alternate solutions etc to ensure that we were comfortable with the job. We would and we have recommended All Remodeling and Construction to others.

PMA Home Improvments replaced all my Gutters, Fascia and Soffit. They repaired section of my roof around my chimney and first floor roof. Sagundo and his crew were reliable, they showed up on time and worked 10 hour days. The job was completed in two full days. I got three quotes and they had the best price. They took pride in there work and cleaned and disposed of all the trash after the job was completed. I would use them again.

Our business with Wisebuild construction has now concluded, and we could not be happier with the results. The site supervisor Frank, was a down to earth person who was patient with us in regard to answering questions and had a keen understanding of roofing materials, techniques, and the specifics about what we could expect from his company. After looking at the paint colors on our freshly painted house, Frank recommended a darker roof to compliment the house. While skeptical at first, Frank's recommendation proved to be right. On the day of completion, neighbors walked by and complimented us on our choice of colors saying that the roof complimented the house and the house complimented the roof. We agreed, and are glad we listened to Frank's suggestion. Throughout both days of removing the old roof and installing the new one, I was up and down off the roof watching what was happening and how it was happening. The efficiency of the Wisebuild roofers was impressive. They worked like a fine tuned machine, always moving, always supporting one another when necessary, and yet demonstrating that each man in his own right was a professional roofer. When the day was over I felt in awe of their skills, their work ethic, and even the playful demeanor between members of the crew. When the roof, the skylight, the vents, the chimney, the gutters, and the cleanup were completed, we felt grateful that we had chosen Wisebuild to replace our roof. As a retired school teacher, I would give the company an A+. We feel nothing but goodwill and gratitude toward Wisebuild, Frank, and every member of that work crew. As it turned out, every claim made by Frank came to fruition. After this experience, my wife and I will never turn to any other roofing company for any level of needed support.

It's been a pleasure to work with Nick and his crew. We needed major exterior work done, new siding, roof repairs and more random work. I have worked with a lot of contractors, and so far Nick’s crew have been impressive. They have the experience and knowledge to give us good recommendations and helped us to save money by reducing the scope of unnecessary work. Their fee are also reasonable, we would have spent much more if not for their experienced inputs. Thank you, guys! Will definitely hire them again.

Bobby came with his worker and together they did a great job - of course only time will tell if I have a problem with the roof hole in the future. Bobby took pictures to show me the hole and the fixed work too. He was very efficient, fast and professional. I did think his price was a bit high for less that an hour's work, but I would hire him again. Thank you

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
