I started piano lessons with David as an adult beginner last year. David is not only a very skilled and passionate pianist, but also an encouraging and methodological teacher. His lessons are taught in a way that is best suited for my specific learning style and addresses any problematic areas or knowledge gaps that I have. In addition, David has helped me gain a problem-solving mindset that allows me to practice more efficiently and solve many challenging problems that arise out of piano practice on my own. Thanks to David, my piano skills have improved significantly, and I finally found a hobby that I enjoy everyday.

Matthew is very professional musician. He took a lot of time to assist me preparing a very special song list for my husband's birthday dinner party. My family really enjoyed themselves especially because of his soulful sounds from playing the saxophone. He was mesmerizing. And, we're going to invite him back in the near future. Thanks, Matthew!

Dan has a wide knowledge base that covers both composition and improvisation as well as general technical approaches to saxophone playing. Additionally he was especially helpful at teaching how to solo over complex chord progressions. Highly recommend!

Alex was highly recommended by my daughter's classical saxophone private instructor after she expressed great interest in Jazz. Alex was able to get her ramped up for audition and acceptance to the GDYO Jazz Institute within a few short months through focused lessons and lots of practice. Although, Alex is not always in the same city to provide lessons in person, he has been able to provide solid lessons via video chat which has worked out extremely well. We are very pleased that Alex continues to provide lessons to our daughter who loves this great art form!

I have enjoyed my experience with Daniel! He has been very flexible with my busy schedule, and was helpful with clarifying my goals for taking lessons. His studio is conveniently located in Manhattan and provides a bright, welcoming atmosphere for learning. I plan to continue my lessons with him for the foreseeable future, and certainly recommend his teaching to music learners of all levels!

Noel was very responsive and easy going when setting up the first meeting. He was very kind and patient in explaining everything, starting from the very basics (this was my first lesson with no prior experience and very little-to-no knowledge about notes etc) what kind of mouthpiece to purchase, how to put it on correctly, the basics of the instrument itself etc. The lesson felt very comfortable and informative. Noel was friendly and encouraging and seemed very experienced and passionate about the sax and teaching the magical musical ways! I'm looking forward to our next lesson together

I think Julie is an awesome teacher. I'm in my 20's and was looking for someone to teach me the saxophone. I was a total beginner, and Julie was so patient from the beginning. During each lesson, Julie taught me new things while enforcing the ideas she taught the previous lessons so that I would work on perfecting one skill while learning a new one, which encouraged me to continue practicing and working on the skills. Overall, I think Julie is a wonderful amd talented teacher that really knows how to teach each student on their own level, and I'm so grateful to have taken lessons with her.

Jack makes everything fun and easy to learn. I’ve been going to his lessons for 4 months, yet it feels like it’s been longer because of the improvement and how well he connects with everyone. He is incredibly talented and has years of experience and knowledge of drums. I love his lessons and I would definitely reccoment him to anyone interested in learning.

      About

I am a certified New York State music teacher with over thirty years of experience. I hold a Bachelors degree in Music Education from the Indiana University School of Music as well as a Masters Degree in Music Education from the University of North Texas. Warm and engaging are words people use to describe my teaching style. I teach piano, clarinet and saxophone using motivational techniques which help to develop strong playing skills, musicianship, sight-reading skills, as well as knowledge of music theory and improvisation. Lessons are never dull but fun and exciting, taught with humor and personality, leading to joy and fulfillment through musical expression. I am very eclectic and open to all styles of music; not afraid to motivate and engage students through music that interests them. The use of colorful graphic images, as well as audio and video recordings of professional musicians help lead to understanding of the many musical concepts students must learn on their way to learning to play a musical instrument at a high level. Instruction also supports preparation for the NYSSMA Solo Festival where needed.
